Turkish Posted 10 June, 2014 Posted 10 June, 2014 I'm not sure why I'm indulging you, but certain of us have mates who dine at the top table. Believe what you want mate. You forget the only dining at the top table Brett does is taking the captain his sausages.
buctootim Posted 11 June, 2014 Posted 11 June, 2014 Given how much money has been spent I'm quite surprised how bland the interiors are and evidence of not quite finishing to a high standard (eg no plastering on the fitness room walls). Inside it looks more modern 4* hotel than £30m worth.

Inside it looks more modern 4* hotel than £30m worth. Looks pretty sweet to me. And bear in mind that that figure includes the pitches at considerable expense and the training dome (also at considerable expense). I bet you that the building was about 50% of the cost if not less. The pitches would probably surprise us by how much they cost. But yeah the building isn't the only thing they've built (see the aerial mockup earlier in the thread).

Yep its fine - beautiful on the outside and obviously a big upgrade on what we had. I guess I just expected more 'wow' to the interior given the price tag.
niceandfriendly Posted 11 June, 2014 Posted 11 June, 2014 Any player desperate to get away from Southampton FC at this time is pretty damn spoiled.

I guess I just expected more 'wow' to the interior given the price tag. it's still not 100% finished they don't hand the building over until the 1st July 2014 so there will be work on until that date and then also continual "snagging" work to be completed.
RonManager Posted 11 June, 2014 Posted 11 June, 2014 It's a long term investment, so a good percentage of the cost will be recouped when put up against tax over the coming years.

The Kraken Posted 18 June, 2014 Posted 18 June, 2014 Actually, I think you'll find that's a Henry vacuum cleaner.
Gemmel Posted 18 June, 2014 Posted 18 June, 2014 Actually, I think you'll find that's a Henry vacuum cleaner. You've done it now...... Just wait for the endless side splitting quips as to who our next signing is going to be.
SO16_Saint Posted 18 June, 2014 Posted 18 June, 2014 Samsung 95" Windows 8 touchscreen... They couldnt even lay the carpet in a straight line FFS
eelpie Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 Any news on the stadium expansion? Can't help thinking a show of intent there would make players and manager think twice about leaving. St Mary's is actually going to be resized smaller to reflect Season Ticket Sales.
eelpie Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 1st team changing room today... Sorry, but I have to say that does look like a torture chamber. Is that room 101 through the black door? And what is with the tipsy logo? Or is it me? - had a few drinks today
Turkish Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 1st team changing room today... Looks small, did they have to give up some space to fit in cortese personal lift?
Turkish Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 You've done it now...... Just wait for the endless side splitting quips as to who our next signing is going to be. Thierry??
Turkish Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Actually, I think you'll find that's a Henry vacuum cleaner. Can't even afford dysons. We must be in a sorry state.
waggy Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Can't even afford dysons. We must be in a sorry state. I take it that dyson is henrys assistant and that we are going for a clean sweep next season......... I'll get my coat.

ecuk268 Posted 26 July, 2014 Posted 26 July, 2014 I've noticed in the last couple of weeks that the next stage of the expansion of Staplewood is well under way. The 2 fields between the current boundary and Twiggs Lane are being cleared and levelled for the new training pitches. Doesn't seem like the actions of someone who's looking to asset strip.
cellone Posted 26 July, 2014 Posted 26 July, 2014 If it helps us Hoover up all trophies I'm all for it. I'm not going to let my self get sucked in to this until I see the cold hard vax for myself!

Looking good, Staplewood now stretches from Staplewood Lane to Twiggs Lane in length, huge area and certainly being done for the long term.

Providing players of Champions league quality for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea , Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd for years to come
Trout-Tickler Posted 26 July, 2014 Posted 26 July, 2014 Providing players of Champions league quality for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea , Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd for years to come We should start taking orders. Are we the Crewe of the Premier League?
cellone Posted 26 July, 2014 Posted 26 July, 2014 Providing players of Champions league quality for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea , Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd for years to come That's our bread and butter which is why I'm not keen on borrowing two of arsenals and tuning them up for them.
ART Posted 26 July, 2014 Posted 26 July, 2014 Providing players of Champions league quality for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea , Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd for years to come Not such a stupid idea. Well worth taking a long hard look at what could be done. The Academy could provide work shops of various length where other clubs send their potential young stars and pay large sums which will provide the finance and support the further development. These young stars could provide our own young potential lads with class opponents in training matches. Employing the likes of Glenn Hoddle and other former top managers and coaches could lead our Academy to become the top training facility in the world.

If it's a success we won't even need a first team.
