whelk Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 If the bookies are to be believed all looks a bit gloomy (at time of posting but these are dynamic). MP next spurs manager https://m.skybet.com/football/manager-specials/event/16376171 Shaw https://m.skybet.com/football/transfer-specials/event/16187792 Lallana https://m.skybet.com/football/transfer-specials/event/16520696
eharty9 Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 Giving me nightmares.. Although bookies odds are bound to be like that due to all the newspapers etc.
whelk Posted 16 May, 2014 Author Share Posted 16 May, 2014 Never trust skybet on any of that stuff. They make the sports news and they make the odds. Must make themselves a fortune and there are always some very deliberate stories planted. So dodgy. Believe what you want to believe but the bookie business is more scientific than you may think and SkyBet isn't a wing to promote SSN. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/tottenham/next-permanent-manager
Snopper Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 I`ve never done any betting so I don`t understand it and at 75 I ain`t about to start. But here`s one thing I do know. I normally only get stressed on match days and I can handle that once a week or so. But with all this stuff going on I feel stressed all the time and it`s not good for me. Roll on the start of next season.
tisspahars Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 Betfair is a much better guide - not only do bookies give much shorter prices, but a few tenners is enough to see them running for cover for fear of people with inside knowledge. MP has been flirting just either side of evens for a few days now on BF and I suspect 50/50 is a pretty accurate reflection.....
whelk Posted 16 May, 2014 Author Share Posted 16 May, 2014 I'm not talking about the industry, I'm talking very specifically about SkyBet Hence I put an oddschecker link that illustrates that SkyBet odds are similar to other bookies for next Spurs manager. Supersubpuckett Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 Odds are driven by how much activity is taking place which will be influenced heavily by what people are reading in the press. So if all the papers say mopo is off the spurs then lots of people bet on this and the odds come down. Its therefore easy to see why people connect the stories which sky peddle about and the betting on skybet.
sammysaint Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 It also depends on money being put on by punters, all it takes is a few punters who think they have inside knowledge to bet big and odds will be dropped. Everyone on here bet 1 pound on all 3 to stay and watch the odds drop.
