nta786 Posted 14 May, 2014 Share Posted 14 May, 2014 Surely there is no point in this? My £500 is worth more than the vouchers. Why would I do this swap?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 May, 2014 Share Posted 14 May, 2014 I am interested in buying this chair. It says you can sit on it for up to 24 hours a day. This sounds interesting to me as currently I get a numb arse if I sit in the one place for too long. I was thinking of withdrawing my £500 and driving all the way down to SO16 to meet you and do the exchange. The problem is, this chair costs £499 and your vouchers are for £500. Do you know if they will give me a quid back or do I also have to find something else that costs exactly £1?

SNSUN Posted 14 May, 2014 Share Posted 14 May, 2014 My parents gave me £250 john Lewis vouchers for Christmas last year. I wanted the new iPad Air. I put the outstanding amount on their credit card. :-) They haven't said anything yet but I bet I don't get much this Christmas...

Tokyo-Saint Posted 15 May, 2014 Share Posted 15 May, 2014 Oh come one SO16, don't be like that, it was just a bit of jokes. I am sure if anyone was looking to swap £500 cash for £500 in vouchers, they would be in touch. If anything, a bit of ribbing helped keep your thread at the top of the saintsbay pile. Tokyo-Saint Posted 15 May, 2014 Share Posted 15 May, 2014 Yeah that's always the danger. I get vouchers through work now and again and my Mrs has them spent before they even hit my wallet. buctootim Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 Ive got about 100 5p off a litre fuel vouchers for my local garage. You can use one voucher to fill up your tank, say 60 liters - so each voucher is worth £3. I'll take £300 for the lot. I might swap with SO16 Saint, as long as he drives down. He could fill up at the same time.

pap Posted 16 May, 2014 Share Posted 16 May, 2014 This is good bidding, and where I'd hoped the thread would get. SO16_Saint is now in the position where he:- 1) can keep £200 John Lewis vouchers, and buy anything that John Lewis sell to the value of £200 2) take the £151 cash, and be able to spend it on whatever he wants, including narcotics and hookers. 2) wait for a better offer than £151, and be able to spend £whatever on whatever he wants, including narcotics and hookers. How many others of us can say that at five to one on a Saturday morning? Think you've got a win here SO16_Saint. PS. Why so keen on cash? Narcotics and hookers? Rut Posted 18 July, 2014 Share Posted 18 July, 2014 Ive been given £500 of John Lewis vouchers. Anyone need/want these for any reason? Would much prefer cash If you want them, theyre yours.... for £500 I hope for your own sake that you were taking the pss. Normally people will say something like 'cost 50 quid, will accept 48 quid' like they are doing you some massive biggest bargain favour ever. You? Naah - none of that ol' pony! Cost 500 quid. Sell for 500 quid. Roll up! Roll up! Out of interest. Just how much do 500 quids worth of JL vouchers cost? That's usually the sort of thing they will knock out for 450 quid cos they know you have to spend them there.
bpsaint Posted 18 July, 2014 Share Posted 18 July, 2014 You can sell gift vouchers on ebay, and make pretty much the same value back in auction. Heres a good example relevant to the OP http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/331175715084?nav=SEARCH
