  1. 1. Who do you want as manager?

Someone with a proper playing style that is similar to MP's.

None of these (Scottish) wallies like Mackay or Clarke and lets be honest, after MP someone like Howe would be so underwhelming, both for us and the players.

Would be worth asking Gary Neville (although he wouldnt be keen) otherwise hopefully Les will use his contacts to find another MP type somewhere.

I could see us going for Sherwood................ lets face it he managed to get one over on MP twice this season

Yeh against a third string back line and a depleted midfield and several individual howlers. He did little to raise his stock on the basis of those games. Would say you're a little blinkered.

I don't see that at all. You could have flipped a coin for those matches, both teams made terrible errors, some were punished, some weren't. Was it Sherwood's genius that meant Saints started with Gazzaniga, Hooiveld and Fox? They only just managed to beat a saints team featuring the nightmare trio.

No. In fairness Sherwood's genius was getting Adebayor out of training with the kids, putting an arm around his ego and putting him back in the 1st team.

What else could Pochettino have done, out of interest? He's entitled to assess his options.

I know he's entitled to assess his options, but he's never shown any kind of commitment to the club throughout his time here, even before Cortese left. He just leaves you cold; Nigel Adkins was obviously a decent bloke with morals - you could tell he loved the job, even though Cortese was obviously putting him under incredible pressure, even with 2 successive promotions. I hated the way Cortese tried to wipe him out of our history after being so good as it his job. The players must have rated him as well, otherwise they would never have achieved so much under his management. He was just getting to grips with the PL when he was given the boot. I'd rather him than many of the other names touted.

How about honouring his existing contract ?

Board should hold him to that, or put him on leave.

The 'board' whether its the entire board, or a combination of Krueger and Reed, seem pretty hapless from the limited noises heard, actions seen.

Unless we can get someone similar to MoPo from La Liga we'd be mad to look beyond Moyes. Utd aberration aside he's got a great record at a club at the level we should be aiming at. Laudrup is a disaster by all accounts and we're so much better than Poyet, Rosler, Petrescu etc.

I won't judge the board on their failure to keep a manager but upon the quality of their replacement.

If we get poyet, garcia, di matteo or Sherwood I will commit suicide by wine.

Give me a foreign manager with success in another league who play the biesla way ie, sampaoli, techul or yakin I'd take that in heartbeat.

Loss is easier to deal with when your excited by the potential of the future.

Yakin has left Basel (isn't that pretty much Kat country in Switzerland?) and Tuchel has left Mainz. Either would appear as quality replacements with what they have achieved. Or the Chile chappie, who appears something of a like for like of the apparently departing MP.

Sampaoli is leaving chile after the World Cup and has been studying English and Italian for over the last year in preparation of management.

Of the overseas names mentioned these two stand out.

Although how the players react to either is questionable, but then again no one knew how MP would be met.

Needless to say though if either do come here, Yakin may use it as a stepping stone to Galatasaray or wherever, Tuchel to wile away his time before replacing Klopp at Dortmund...

Ok techul it is cos we will be awesome if he get the Dortmund job after us :-)

Good bring him in then, he sounds like a good shout and is also actually Argentinean I believe. He has made Chile look like world beaters when they're not really quite that good. In a happy coincidence we are in a position to help him out with a soon to be redundant translator, should his English lessons not be going to well ...

Yup, that's what you get when you hire managers who are that good.

long shots

De Boer

Simeone

De Boer is a long shot, but does seem to be looking for a way into the Premier League and we might be a good option. Ajax of course significantly bigger than us, but Saints are a top half Premier League side De Boer might at a stretch be able to get his teeth into.

But Simeone! Simone isn't a long shot, he is this...

Whilst not "fashionable" types, hopefully the club won't rule out the likes of Micky Mellon, Russell Slade and Karl Robinson from MK Dons.

I don't think we should be recruiting our next manager from the Munch Bunch.

Chris Hughton was in the DeVere Saturday night. Someone on my FB got there pic taken with him and said he's a really sound bloke. Hope he's not being lined up though!

jeez no, I just hope he was there buying a yacht, meeting a tart or something. If we sign Hughton it's because we're preparing for life in the Championship again.

Poyet, Lennon and Petrescu in frame apparently according to the Express. Petrescu's name has been lingering around like a bad smell for a few months - reminds me very much of how Krueger's name was eased into the frame as eventual Chairman. Please God, no.

Isn't it terrible that Poyet looks like the best option out of those three?

Will be extremely disappointed with any of those but would all be good in the Championship I suppose

Steve Evans, the new Billy Davies? Who else has spearheaded back to back promotions - the anyone-but-Cortese brigade inform us that Nige was simply bankrolled.

That report is literally telling you the early favourites with bookies. With Poyet, the manager with the shortest odds, at 5/1 I would not read much into it.
