Toon Saint Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Yes, add in G Neville and Ralf Rangnick (sp?) and it we will have brilliant options. Gary Neville is an excellent pundit, but why does that make him a brilliant option as a manager?
DT Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Oh come on, Saints! Bloody make the appointment and let's get cracking with the rebuild.
Saint_Abroad Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 So we are interviewing Theodore Roosevelt for the job now? Who will be his assistant? I know who it won't be, Howard Taft. Plus, I'm not sure his Bull-Moose tactics will translate well into the current Southampton squad. He'd have to bring in a Hiram Johnson, which could work if played in an attacking midfield role. (Yea, historical American political humor.)
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Gary Neville is an excellent pundit, but why does that make him a brilliant option as a manager? I think he's more than just an excellent pundit. Punditry just gives him a platform to speak. I think he is one of the few people who could translate his knowledge, experience and skill into the role of a manager/coach. Most pundits couldn't make the transition - they just talk the talk, whereas I think he is capable of becoming a very successful manager. Not going to happen realistically this time round though. Just my very humble opinion.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Song for RK if he gets appointed? Maybe a tad obscure for a football song, but hey, let's blaze our own trail here yeh?
Bearsy Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 i have been out today: a) is there any news bout cowman? 2) who is teddy & why is people talking bout teddy?
Saint_Abroad Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 2) who is teddy & why is people talking bout teddy? 26th President of the US (among other titles) and possibly the next manager of Southampton Football Club.
Bearsy Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 this teddy appointment has disaster written all over it. I like the bear aspect of teddy, but how is being 26th president of the US in anyway qualify you to be football manager?
pap Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Song for RK if he gets appointed? Maybe a tad obscure for a football song, but hey, let's blaze our own trail here yeh? Rococo (Loves the Saints) Rococo (Hates the Skates) Yeah, could see something like that working
richardc Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 this teddy appointment has disaster written all over it. I like the bear aspect of teddy, but how is being 26th president of the US in anyway qualify you to be football manager? this is why He is noted for his exuberant personality, range of interests and achievements, and his leadership of the Progressive Movement, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Rococo (Loves the Saints) Rococo (Hates the Skates) Yeah, could see something like that working Thought you'd be with me on this one
Bearsy Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 this is why He is noted for his exuberant personality, range of interests and achievements, and his leadership of the Progressive Movement, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity interesting, so it has come down to cowboy or cowman? cowman for me. Experience.
richardc Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 interesting, so it has come down to cowboy or cowman? cowman for me. Experience. interesting that you choose experience - I think this is a dated concept - I go for robust masculinity
rooney Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 interesting that you choose experience - I think this is a dated concept - I go for robust masculinity Yes, he used to be Tab Hunter in a previous life.
Batman Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Ralfy and les can go screw themselves of they appoint sherwood
Window Cleaner Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 They won't appoint Sherwood. You just cannot say, not with Reed doing the lion's share of the chusing. I bet he wanted McClaren actually. Seems to me (and probably only me) that someone doesn't want Koeman (other than me that is).
SNSUN Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 We need an appointment that would as close as possible unite the fan base and provide positivity for the new season. Koeman would have a few knockers but would most likely have majority support. It seems to me that Sherwood would completely divide the fan base based on people's opinions on here.

Why would Koeman have a few knockers ? He stands out a mile to be honest . ... Will walk into the dressing room and command respect as he has played game at the highest level....Good cv as a manager.....plays great attacking football and brings academy players through and will be hungry to prove himself in the premiership . No brainer if you ask me.
Viking Warrior Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I'm sure guan would have posted if the appointment was imininent He said next week and I'm with him that it is next week
DT Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I'm sure guan would have posted if the appointment was imininent He said next week and I'm with him that it is next week You have info?
Viking Warrior Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Talk of appointing a new manager . The Inverness supporters are laughing their heads of at Celtic appointing delia . One said looking forward to some excellent pies when they travel to Glasgow next season
Saint Matty 76 Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Alex Goring Crook @alex_crook 35s Despite what the bookies say Tim Sherwood is NOT in the running for the #saintsfc job He's spoken.
ratio_decidendi Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 So Alex Crook has just stated that Sherwood is most definitely not in the running for the Saints job... A shame - I could have done with a laugh next season.
Viking Warrior Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I never thought sherwood was ever in the running but shergar is . Providing the club can find him Neigh I hear you shout .
Verbal Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Alex Goring Crook @alex_crook 35s Despite what the bookies say Tim Sherwood is NOT in the running for the #saintsfc job He's spoken. So that's that then. Sherwood it is.
Ohio Saint Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I'll be very disappointed now if we get anyone other than Teddy R. I am starting to think though, that he may be a bit dead. Could we sign Robin Williams to play his part? He looked just like him in the Night at the Museum movie. Teddy S would be a disaster. No Presidential experience at all according to Wikipedia.
Ohio Saint Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Oh yes, if you don't want cowman, don't google "reverse cowman"
Viking Warrior Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Adam faith sang a song about a cow man written by the gibb brothers Cow man sing me song la la ( this is genuine ) Meanwhile in the pub I'm in Inverness this lass is giving me me the eye I paused for a moment and gave her it back
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I think you should lay off the sauce for bit Viking.

What about a Teddy Boy manager? His quiffed up hair will surely rub off on AL and LS. I bet within the first two weeks of the season every Premier League manager will be sporting a frock coat. Ohio Saint Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Meanwhile in the pub I'm in Inverness this lass is giving me me the eye I paused for a moment and gave her it back That's a very important moment when you are the drunk guy at the bar. Gotta work on the pose. Just the right amount of mystery, look assertive yet approachable, get your sense of humour across............That's how it seems in the ol' brain box anyway. Usually, it just looks like a drunk guy trying to sneak out a fart.

CB Fry Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 ... well this aint gonna make good reading for some http://sportingpreview.com/football2014-summer/2014043.php If by "some" you mean "people who get stupidly worked up about some half baked speculation from a 23 year old work experience kid a betting website with no more information than anyone on here" then I agree some will.

Pastor Patrón Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I'd rather have Yakin then Koeman, but both are a step up from Pochettino which is the important thing
Viking Warrior Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Ohio only one pint sir . I had a train to catch lol
Saint Billy Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 If Koeman gets the job will that be the return of the golden era of Total Football?
supersonic Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Source? know someone who works at the club. As I've said before, they aren't a football fan, so no chance of them being on the wind up. Don't get much info from them but just passing on what I've been told
Dark Munster Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I would be over the moon to see Magath appointed as Saints manager. If I were a skate.
Dark Munster Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 Teddy would be a lot better, even though he's a bit dead.
ToreSF Posted 6 June, 2014 Posted 6 June, 2014 I'd rather have Yakin then Koeman, but both are a step up from Pochettino which is the important thing You watch a lot of swiss and dutch football?
