Toon Saint Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 Increasingly excited about this potential appointment. Let's hope the board are on form and sell Koeman the club as best they can (please Ralphy no talk of marketing staff recruited from Apple!) Just looking at his goal scoring record as a CB - it is absolutely staggering! Managed 26 for PSV in one season and 19 for Barca in another. 239 in 685 games in total! Obviously means nothing with regard to his managerial skills, but could certainly see the likes of Lovren being content playing under someone with such a high profile. St Jim Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 I see that Koeman's son (?) on twitter follows SaintsFC. And Spurs ha ha! So Spuds are already interviewing for MoPo's replacement then.

John Boy Saint Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 Mr Koeman at London Gatwick Airport last night. Doesn't look like he would take der Schitt from der Lallana either......... Or any other bugger for that matter.
Professor Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 If Koeman was here yesterday and went home, its not really evidence of anything except the probability that he was interviewed. Doesn't exclude one or more other candidates and doesn't mean that a decision has been taken. Whoever gets the job will be in Southampton when the announcement is made for the photoshoot and press conference or press release. If it is to be Koeman, and I think many fans would be extremely pleased if it is, he'll have to get back here quite soon.

Scummer Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 worked at Feyenoord but not at other clubs??? Ajax: He won the league twice + 2 cup wins Benfica: He won the Portuguese SuperCup PSV: He won the league Valencia: He won the Copa del Rey AZ: He won the Dutch Super Cup Those 2 Super Cups are those country's equivalents of the Charity Shield. I think in both cases he took over clubs that had just won the league. So neither of those wins are particularly impressive.

I think in both cases he took over clubs that had just won the league. So neither of those wins are particularly impressive. And the Ajax wins were over a decade ago and the year he won a Cup at Valencia they were near the bottom of the league. He seems to specialise in doing one season per club and is pretty much a journeyman manager who was deemed by Swansea to be an inferior option to Garry Monk and by West Ham to be worse than Fat Sam. Still he has applied for every PL job he thinks he has a sniff at so is the easy option for hiring by our failed ice hockey head coach chairman.
