  1. 1. Who do you want as manager?

Increasingly excited about this potential appointment. Let's hope the board are on form and sell Koeman the club as best they can (please Ralphy no talk of marketing staff recruited from Apple!)

Just looking at his goal scoring record as a CB - it is absolutely staggering! Managed 26 for PSV in one season and 19 for Barca in another. 239 in 685 games in total!

Obviously means nothing with regard to his managerial skills, but could certainly see the likes of Lovren being content playing under someone with such a high profile.

If Koeman was here yesterday and went home, its not really evidence of anything except the probability that he was interviewed. Doesn't exclude one or more other candidates and doesn't mean that a decision has been taken. Whoever gets the job will be in Southampton when the announcement is made for the photoshoot and press conference or press release. If it is to be Koeman, and I think many fans would be extremely pleased if it is, he'll have to get back here quite soon.

Maybe he had has his interview before yesterday (Man u did theirs in portugal) and he was just coming over to look around the facilities, sign the paperwork and do the applicable photos ?

worked at Feyenoord but not at other clubs???

Ajax: He won the league twice + 2 cup wins

Benfica: He won the Portuguese SuperCup

PSV: He won the league

Valencia: He won the Copa del Rey

AZ: He won the Dutch Super Cup

Those 2 Super Cups are those country's equivalents of the Charity Shield. I think in both cases he took over clubs that had just won the league. So neither of those wins are particularly impressive.

Don't think beggars can be choosers, the most recent one we have is the JPT.

And the Ajax wins were over a decade ago and the year he won a Cup at Valencia they were near the bottom of the league.

He seems to specialise in doing one season per club and is pretty much a journeyman manager who was deemed by Swansea to be an inferior option to Garry Monk and by West Ham to be worse than Fat Sam.

Still he has applied for every PL job he thinks he has a sniff at so is the easy option for hiring by our failed ice hockey head coach chairman.

prob wants to make amends for knocking us out of world cup 94. I will forgive koeman his past sins if he takes Saints to Wembley.

Glad I'm not the only one who remembers this.

Platt.

The big danger is that if Koeman takes the job, Platt will sit in his car outside SMS plotting revenge.

What had Poch won before we employed him...near relegation with Espanyol!

Is it time to start thinking about new songs for Koeman? any we can steal from past clubs?

Maybe... "You signed MoPo, we signed Ronnie Koeman, Ronnie Koeman..."

(might be dependent on league position / score)

Koeman 'ave a go if you think you're 'ard enough...

Sorry for this, but when I read that it put this in my head (in the style of... Gary Glitter):

Koeman Koeman, Koeman Koeman, Koeman Koeman Kooooeman... THE SAINTS

As I said, sorry.

I did too CB, what game was it, all I remember is shouting out the abuse.

Me too. I think that was the game where they miked up Graham Taylor for the whole match for a documentary, from which the phrase "do I not like that" sprung. Yes, that's not a typo, that's what he actually said, about a thousand times during the 1 hr docu.

Wont believe he's signed until I see it on his Wiki page

One of these ambitions was to join Southampton FC, Ralph Krueger (Southamptons Chairman) contacted him upon the Departure of Mauricio Pochettino. Koeman was promised a £50m transfer budget and aims to get Southampton FC into the Champions League. [16]

Nice one Glasgow ;)
