Lallana's Left Peg Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 Imagine a few years ago if someone told you Ronald Koeman would be Saints manager. Ridiculous. Whatever ambivalence people have about his record, the Dutch league etc., there can be little doubt this boosts the club's profile and will attract a lot of interest. Spend some decent money and it's clear we're not just the little club that's lost its players and given up. I agree with that but I worry about the amount of change that will happen in just one summer: 1. Losing your Manager and coaching staff (no continuity at First Team level at all) 2. The first transfer window for the new Board (and Les Reed) to get stuck into 3. Losing a few of your best players It's 50/50 whether or not we come out the other side of it in half decent shape. We have a chance to, but I do worry about Les Reed.

It's incredibly spooky actually. Relegated together in the PL back in 05, relegated together to L1 in 09. How closely our futures have been over the last 10-15 years is unreal. I honestly thought we'd banish that one now, but going at this rate we will do well not to follow them! But Koeman looks a done deal to me, would bring stability and some leadership in a time when we are seriously lacking either. Hope we get it done ASAP so we can try and start a salvage operation! He's experienced enough to handle it, I reckon. Up here in Norwich I am fully aware of how the two clubs fortunes have been closely tied. Like you I am convinced that a high quality manager will make all the difference as I reckon the board will take the right actions but are still wet around the ears and it is a cut throat 'dog eat dog' world in the Premier league ! St Jim Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 Shortest odds are now 8\13 for Koemen. Looks nailed on. As with one of my previous comments I still don't get why Dyche is such short odds (currently 2nd favourite at 9\2 and 4\1). He's been hardly mentioned in the media and on forums. All whilst also dealing with a lunatic as chairman/owner he then went on and done what we all know with burnley (in style), when I don't remember too many people tipping them for promotion now, whether he would be right for us, I don't know. Leslie Charteris Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 Koeman could be great for us inasmuch as he would probably settle any players fears about the club's ambition. Sean Dyche has done wonders at Burnley, was poorly treated by Watford and I think would do a good job but maybe he would not command the respect of our "big" players in the way Koeman could. He might get the Luggy treatment and so, on balance, I really hope we get the Dutchman.
