BlakeySFC Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 I'd take Sherwood, Allardyce or Pepe Mel if MoPo goes.
Convict Colony Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 I'd take Sherwood, Allardyce or Pepe Mel if MoPo goes. Has barry hacked your account
Chez Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 I'd take Poyet. Yeah he's a knob, but I liked how Brighton played it out from the back, as we do, whilst he was there. I'm sure there are other better candidates from overseas, but my knowledge is poor on that subject.
Wade Garrett Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Source? Was told Sunday, when I originally posted it. Not 100%, but I reckon it's true.
Dalek2003 Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Glenn Hoddle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The return of the Mesiah.
SNSUN Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Glenn Hoddle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The return of the Mesiah. I see some Spurs fans want him back there.
saint-ross Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 No one up for a punt on any of the usual suspects...? Iain Dowie Alan Curbishley Phil Brown Dave Basset
CB Saint Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Glenn Hoddle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The return of the Mesiah. Have to admire your persistence
IanH Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 The manager of Chile if we could get him, Jorge Sampaoli. Plays the same style as Poch and also the same nationality I believe.
Badger Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Just looking at the betting for the Spuds job and the man who is 5th favourite is Thomas Tuchel - not someone I'd heard of. Just left Mainz this year having lead them to 7th in the Bundesliga and Europa League qualification. They also finished 5th in his first season there in 2010/11. Anyone follow German football and know what sort of football they were playing under him? He's now left Mainz so is available, would appear to be looking for a bigger job. I came across his name after reading an article about Klopp and Mainz. A feature on Mainz said their fans rate his achievements with them greater than Klopp. He is a highly rated 'thinking young coach', and already touted as a replacement at one of the big clubs in Germany. (Worth bearing in mind that we too have had up and coming 'thinking young coaches' in England, Adie Boothroyd for one, and things don't always work out for them). Wonder if he's attended any motivational courses run by a German speaking Canadian over the last couple of years.
Badger Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Let's just keep Mopo. Please. Best idea yet. Email 'tellralph@saints.co.uk' and put it to him.
tedmaul Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 The manager of Chile if we could get him, Jorge Sampaoli. Plays the same style as Poch and also the same nationality I believe. IanH Posted 13 May, 2014 Posted 13 May, 2014 Sounds as if he would liven up the dug out! http://m.soccerly.com/article/soccerly/chiles-jorge-sampaoli-the-most-hyperactive-manager-in-the-world-cup
KK the 2nd Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Some bookies are already betting on next Saints permanent manager. I've had a little punt on Eddie Howe at 33/1. I would prefer a young up and coming, bright and articulate individual to the ones that have been round the block a few times and I believe Howe fits the bill.
bristolsaint29 Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Glenn Hoddle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The return of the Mesiah. It's like Groundhog day
Solid Saint Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Looking like Sam Allardyce might be available soon...
SW5 SAINT Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 I would go for experience; Alex Ferguson, Barry Fry or Brian Clough. I suppose with Brian Clough we might get heavenly intervention as well!
Saint Charlie Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 If we get rid of a few players and are in transition then Big Sam is probably the best bet. He has an unwarranted reputation for playing long ball football, but we know he would probably keep us up.

SNSUN Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Well Pardew is off the list of replacements, he's staying with Newcastle apparently... ...breathes a sigh of relief...
manji Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Mopo's staying anyway but can I mention George Graham ?
waggy Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 At least not all the media have 'transferred' MP to Spuds. http://bwinbetting.com/leagues/premier-league/southamptons-boss-mad-give-hottest-ticket-town-spurs,54868.html
Saint George Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Hoping Pochettino stays, but if he were to leave then Pepe Mele would be a decent replacement for me http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01yyvf9 Have zero confidence the new board would be up to making the right appointment though.....Would probably be the Eastliegh or Sholing coach, "making the heart of the City click" and all that.

I've asked before but who appointed MP, Cortese wasn't a football person so someone advised him. Perhaps the same backroom staff that advised Cortese could find us another gem?

mcjwills Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Glenn Hoddle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The return of the Mesiah. Dalek I love your style :-)
aintforever Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Some bookies are already betting on next Saints permanent manager. I've had a little punt on Eddie Howe at 33/1. I would prefer a young up and coming, bright and articulate individual to the ones that have been round the block a few times and I believe Howe fits the bill. Howe was interviewed for the Saints job before we hired Adkins according to a mate who works at AFC Bournemouth so that could be a good bet. I think they would probably go for someone with experience at a higher level though.
Verbal Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Whoever we hire will need to be a caretaker. MP will be fired by Levy around November so we can have him back and Spurs can continue their policy of giving everyone a go.
SaintSteve Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 I've asked before but who appointed MP, Cortese wasn't a football person so someone advised him. Perhaps the same backroom staff that advised Cortese could find us another gem? Yes, but Cortese did a lot of research over a period of time, knowing Adkins wasn't the right man to take us forwards... this would be a rush job as whoever comes in has to sign a few players quickly.. not good
offix Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 Preference: MP to stay. If MP leaves us De Boer would be my first choice. Plays a similar style, great experience, and ambitious.
SNSUN Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 We could always get Nigel back.......... Nah, i reckon he'd rather see what he could do with Leicester... :-)
Forester Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 As others have said, hopefully MoPO stays. But if he goes then any of the following would have different qualities to bring: Moyes - great job with ok, but not great, resources over Everton and impossible job to take over Fergie's squad Poyet- despite being irritating at Brighton, did great job there and done similar at Sunderland. Plays quality football Benitez - loves managing in England, accept we may struggle to attract him. McLaren - great job at Middlesbrough, Derby and in Holland. Does not relying spending huge sums Howe - accept he is unproven at Premier League level, but who isn't before they take their first job? Could he honestly have done anything better so far in his career and still very young? I personally think Hoddle, yes still, Allardyce and Pulis are all in their different ways very good managers but all would be divisive of fan base. We want united club after what will I fear be an unsettling summer so would rule them out for this reason
maysie Posted 14 May, 2014 Posted 14 May, 2014 benitez? he would not touch this place. shame though You make us sound like an overused hooker
