#SaintsFC keen not to appoint another manager without a decent grasp of English, which would suggest a move for Murat Yakin is a no-goer.

Let's get this straight, people are simulteously annoyed that:

a) they didn't spend all their time convincing Pochetinno to stay

b) they didn't spend all their time in preparing the replacement shortlist

Brilliant.

Would be stupid to rule out some very good candidates purely because of their language - get him here before the World Cup, get him settled and get him learning English. A new manager would have several weeks before even pre-season training starts.

Thought he said his English was okay, but would need it to improve. Can't see that ruling him out. Might rule a few South Americans out though, and David Moyes.

I read somewhere that he said his English was good enough to speak to the players, but not yet good enough for the media. So about the same as Pochettino when he arrived then.

Damnit, was hoping that Hakuna Matata guy was going to get the job.

Sherwood out of the running then.

And definitely Paul Lambert, but maybe in his case it´s more to how he speak rather than the language that makes it impossible to understand him....

Must make Koeman a strong contender . Most Dutch speak better English than most English people.

...and in Meulensteen's case, even sound more English too!

Pleased it won't be Poyet. Shame if the Yakin rumours about his English are true. A lack of English didn't stop Pochettino from gaining the respect of the players...

I am told via a friend who is a Basel fan that Yakin isn't that great. Tactically he couldn't fault him against the 'big' teams- like the victories over Chelsea. However he said most fans didn't like him due to his defensive football and the fact he didn't go out to win games that were in most cases winnable.

Yakin won't be our Manager, am pretty sure of that. There is always a bandwaggon name at the start. Will probably be a few more too before we get someone whose name hasnt been mentioned yet.

Didnt lose many games though. Last season they lost just twice in the league and the season before only 6.

So 8 defeats in 72 league games.... Pretty good.

You also need to consider the impact of a manager leaving a club. Look at MP.... Prior to his departure he was worshipped (by many) but within 24 hours even his biggest supporters can now admit that he wasnt perfect and that will increase as some work through the 7 stages of the breakup :)

I was fortunate to jump straight to step 7 as never really warmed to MP at all.

- Shock or Disbelief

- Denial

- Anger

- Bargaining

- Guilt

- Depression

- Acceptance and Hope

My mate works with Tommy Widdrington's wife and he says that Widdrington has "put his name in the hat". He's exactly what we need right now - not only is he a decent, young, talented manager but he's also got all the fans behind him - I don't know anyone who doesn't want him for the job. He's just what we need for a united club.

I've heard he's got strong competition from Ian Andrews and Craig Maskell. They bleed red and white.

He has no more idea what saints are looking for than you and I on here . He needs to listen to RK interview in full

Widdrington, Beattie? Are you people for real? We are a top 10 premier league team and therefore deserve the best.

The Tommy Widdrington stuff comes out every time we need a new manager.

It's almost gone through the comedy pain barrier of being funny through constant repetition but not quite.

Gordon Strachan got the training kit delivered to his doorstep yesterday.

I'm most worried about the fact that MP is likely to take some players with him, in regards to the five year contract he'll be gone by Christmas.

I'd take Moyes personally, although we have to remember that even though he built a good team ay Everton with no bigotry transfers, they players themselves are on big wages

Peach is 100% Saints fan and has some decent links to the club.

Save your venom for Alex Crook.

Has Skacel moved into Martin O'Neill's house yet?

Poyet signs new deal at Sunderland - good news for us.

Weird, weird bloke and mostly atrocious signings.

I spent a day with Gus and I thought he was a really nice bloke and very funny
