  1. 1. Who do you want as manager?

This is the bit I dont like. It would be nice to have the new man in within the next week to ten days. Get some plans in place for moving forward. Also who is he expecting to see at the World Cup? Maya, Gason? Surely everyone else is on the way out anyway.

Think he's more acknowledging that we've got some World Cup players of note. See no reason if we sell him with an ambitious challenge he'd refuse to sign till he'd watched all the World Cup games.

Saints don't play a game between now and July so even if he was appointed tomorrow the World Cup is indeed a good chance for him to see them in action.

How naive. In the meantime, half the first team will be gone. We need to move swiftly to stop this happening. Surely the board has known for some time that we might be in need of a new manager and has already sounded guys like this out? But no... let's have a fu-ckin twitter converstaion about it

Anyone that watched his side beat Chelsea twice in the Champions League this season, made the Europa League semi finals in 2013 and quarter finals in 2014 on Sky and ITV?

Not everyone anally retains all details from every game. Could most on here name the Benfica or Juventus manager?

Wouldn't mind taking him as a player if he can ping one of these in every once in a while either ;)

In all seriousness though, he seems like a good fit for us - we just have to make sure he's the right guy to take us forward (tbh I would take sideways).

I am happy to admit I only know about him through the context of Saints, and his name has been knocked about a bit here. I'm no great Euro - football follower so happy to claim limited knowledge.

But look at his long hair, his nice suits and olive skin. Chuck in a bit of European experience and a trophy or two and he's the total effing package.

Get him in RK by the weekend or its hunger strike time for this fan.

Could he take Simeone?

No, not anyone. A handful of those people retained the name of the Basel manager.

You do realise not everyone plays Championship Manager all day?

How is it naive? All he said was he was going to watch our players at the World Cup, that doesn't mean he can't be appointed in the next few days.

The Tweets I posted were of a journalist quoting what Yakin said in an interview, not Yakin himself tweeting.

No panic appointments needed. Several weeks till World Cup starts to identify who we want & convince them to join.

When did I say panic appointment. The board have had an idea for weeks about the Argie leaving. Would be disappointed if a lot of the groundwork hadn't already been done.

But thats the point. It shouldn't be a panic appointment. We all knew the argie was leaving so surely the board did weeks ago? So surely they have already done their homework and sounded out the replacements. Please don't tell me this has come as a shock to them? If we dally around now, it will be a vote of no confidence from the players no doubt about it

It is imperative that we appoint the new staff very soon. No f*cking around. The board gave a chance to show us what they're made of.

No, it's imperative that we appoint the right person and don't rush into things. I very much doubt we will be buying or selling before the WC. Agents will want to wait for a deal, knowing a decent WC will push the prices up through the roof.

We are lucky it's a WC year, there is no great rush to do anything. Not appointing a manager will be far better than announcing tomorrow that we've appointed Hughton, Sherwood or Whiskey George

He certainly looks the part. Every inch the premier league manager. The likes of Sean Dyce, Redknapp, Pardew etc will be well beaten before they've chosen their zonal or man marking defensive system for dead balls.

F*cking rotate. Get the right man in quickly. How hard is it to understand!

Yakin would be my number one atm.

Moyes and Klinsman wouldn't be that bad surely. I'd rather have Yakin, but it wouldn't annoy me if one of these two were to come in.

Laudrup is in the middle for me (maybe he'll try in the cups though eh ;) )

De Boer and Benitez, great managers- except they're too big for our club. I highly doubt they'd come here.

Hughton/Mackay/McClaren type managers- NOOOOOO

This, this and thrice this

Yakin seems like its a perfect fit and hopefully the players see that as well. In my view it's imperative the board move quickly as agents will be all over the players and it gives a new manager lots of time to look at players during the WC and on film if he's not seen them before (I.e championship, etc)

Dream: F. De Boer, Jorge Sampaoli

Good: Yakin, Tuchel, Laudrup, Rosler

Acceptable: Moyes, Lambert, Poyet, Mackay

Poor: McLaren, Howe

God awful: Hughton, Petrescu

Why would Rosler be good but Moyes only acceptable? And Lambert and Mackay would be acceptable.. really? How do you rate their chances of keeping hold of our want away talent when they have their heads turned?

Interesting the odds for Koeman. He was supposedly interested in the Swansea job, and surely Saints is a better one. Yet he has some big clubs on his cv.

Looking at his wiki page (I know) Koeman seems to start off all right then it all goes south after 12 months or so. He seems to have moved around quite a few clubs (admittedly famous European ones) not sure if he'd be right for us.

Chose the right suit in the morning and you've won half the battle come three o'clock.

55% win ratio even including a poor run with Valencia, and doing pretty well with Feyenord in his last job this season. Sounds ok to me, and he is the sort of name that players would respect.

Whoever it is they have to be made aware that they simply must beat Tottenham Hotspur (aka, the 'pride' of north London, the sleeping giants of world football, famed all over for the 'tottenham way', league cup winners in 1999, feking w@nk stain c unts).

Similar with Laudrup.

Just nice to have some big names being offered in the bookies. Makes a change from Dowie, Adams and any other ex saints

This. The Saints job must surely be the most attractive proposition that it's ever been. Let's just hope those in charge are happy to pay top dollar to secure one of the many top managers who would take the job.

Just my personal opinion on the candidates discussed. Moyes probably unfairly discredited after failure at Man Utd but not sure he'd be a perfect fit with us. Rosler plays a more progressive style of football and would bring less baggage than Moyes. Acceptable bracket would be more 'begrudging acceptance' as I'd hope we'd choose a candidate from the top two lists.

It's all subjective and I'm not representing this as a definitive list, merely my own take on the situation.

Good. He can feck off to Spurs next summer.

Fair enough Toon. They all look like very disappointing alternatives at the moment that's all.
