Of course this could be reference to the deck of cards about to collapse at Saints as opposed to something positive. Fingers crossed for something good.

Maybe he is making a p*rn compilation best of !!

Have to admit I don't know too much about him. WHy would he be such a great appointment? I know Basel beat Chelski twice in the CL and that is an achievement' date=' but what else makes you so keen? (Honest question - not a saracastic one)[/quote']

he's obviously got something about him, I thought he was pre-supposed at Lazio actually but don't know where he is with that. Trouble is so many managers have come into the PL and been instant failures, there have been successes as well though, mainly from Spain.

Clearly it's about Pochettino leaving...

Yeah obviously, but that's hardly an entire evenings work. I mean do they expect more than one bit of news. We've all said for a long time that MP decision will affect a lot of other things.

Let's not beat around the bush, this is a great job for a manager to come into, and I think a lot of good managers will be interested. We are a top 8 Premier League team with the players to push on.

We're the fit bird next door, and a lot of people like to look over the fence.

err so were Swansea and West Brom, one got a complete failure and the other got Gary Monk. A PL team in our time is what the owner is prepared to invest in it once it gets to second base.

Quotes from Yakin (taken from Joe Batchelor's twitter)

Yakin: “It would be an exciting adventure. I have got an agent who is responsible for England. I heard about Saints, but nothing concrete.

Yakin: “I’ve watched the EPL and I know they were well placed It will be good to have a chance to see some of their players play at the WC.

Yakin: “I left Basel by mutual agreement. I felt I would like a new challenge and see what happens and what new opportunities arise.

Yakin: “My English is OK. It is no problem for me to use it with the team, perhaps it needs a few months’ practice for the public.”

Tuchel would be a great choice, he has done a great job at Mainz producing results, playing good football & on a budget. The Leverkusen job is no longer available so I think he would be gettable.

But would he 'translate' into the English game ? I don't mean language as I've read he speaks English, but putting it another way, how would the squad receive him ? That will be an acid test for any incoming manager.

Leads one to asking the question why do we have candidates for a job that is not officially vacant, or is MP long gone having paid his 2 million £ and no-one thought to mention it. Yakin quit Basle a while back, a week, maybe 2, did we lead him on to do that or was it just a good idea to him at the time. Probably just more tweetbolloax anyway.

Remember that MoPo was lined up for 3 weeks before the Don pulled he trigger on Nigel....

Anyone know what his record for speaking to the press is like? If he's not prone to speculation those quotes are very encouraging. Might well be in the pipeline already.

Don't think so as Alex Crook's news agency were hassling agents on twitter throughout the day before getting the quotes out of him. May not even be in the thoughts of the board.

I don't know much about Yakin, but I saw him mastermind those wins over Chelsea and he seems to be highly rated

Basel play decent football, based on those games I saw in the CL I would say get him in

Benitez is an absolutely ludicrous suggestion. Would never, ever, ever come here.

Dude you are posting more than me today and I don't have to work, please tell me you are in charge otherwise your getting sacked in the morning lol

I don't watch a lot of lower league football so difficult to comment but I liked these positive comments from Brendan Rogers on Eddie Howe (after the FA cup game):

'When you have a team that want to play football they are the most courageous players on the field,' said Rodgers.

'It is easy to coach a team to sit back, not want the ball and defend and then just wait for a hump up the pitch.

'The courage that the Bournemouth players showed today was fantastic - they have got better, I have watched them as the season has gone on.

'It is coaches like Eddie Howe who will take the game forward in this country because they believe in a way of working and they have a philosophy.

'Bournemouth are a very good side and I give credit to them first of all. Eddie is similar to myself in terms of the philosophy of football.

Might as well post more when there is more to talk about. Plus, Benitez is a ridiculous suggestion. Fancy Mourinho too?

Other possibles:

Martin Jol

Sean Dyche

Gianfranco Zola

Dennis Rofe

Anders Limpar

Ha, Benitez is ludicrous but Zola and Jol arnt?!?! Ha!

(Ludicrous suggestions for completely different reasons).

Hey I'm innocent, remember I didn't highlight him on the odds earlier :-)

Poyet? He was a knob at Brighton but fits our style.

I have to agree with that, look what he achieved at Sunderland, he was the main man at Leeds too even though he was not the manager.

Posted

I agree Yakin ,but a statement of intent would also be Benitez or Mancini now we are the best opportunity in the league.

A Hughton, Maclaren ,Mackay type journeyman would not be well received by the Kingsland Red Family. !

Posted

Yakin would get my vote. Definitely think that would make the players have a think about going anywhere and did some really good things with Basel

Supporting that: Positive comments from him regarding the possibility, and he's currently leading the odds at the moment (william hill have him at 11/4). We can pretend that Macky isn't the bookies' next favourite :p

Never thought id say it but bring back cortese for all his faults we wouldn't be in this mess, the board are directionless, les reed has known for months MP was off and fed the fans a load of lies

Yakin. Got to be.

10000000000000000000%, if beating Chelsea and Spurs in Europe over the years and developing players with a low budget for the team isn't enough I look forward to seeing the guys credentials who is better.
