Scoobysaint Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 It seems that not only are Man Utd gonna gamble on spending 27 million on a player the manager may or may not want, Spurs are gonna put a bid in for a player laid up with a cruciate injury. This is getting farcical now. Is Wally the kitman still at Saints, maybe Chelsea will put in a cheeky bid. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2626238/Spurs-set-bid-Southampton-striker-Jay-Rodriguez-summer-joined-Mauricio-Pochettino-White-Hart-Lane.html So thats the manager gone, Lallana gone, Shaw gone, JRod gone. Honestly... what a sack of 5hit the mail is.
Saint_Tony Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 As I wrote on here a couple of weeks ago, I understand MP is off to Spurs and that J Rod is one of the players he wants to bring with him, along with Lallana (looking unlikely) and Chambers
Bearsy Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 yes daily mail, i think spurs prob are about to launch a multi-million pound bid for striker with ACL injury. It's stories like this that make me believe NC is out there stirring up trouble. Spurs won't have started this rumour cos it makes them look like mugs, and we sure as shit didn't. In fact you don't buy players who have had recovered from that sort of injury until they have come through at least a season.

Baldbarbarian Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 Rafa Benitez wants to go to Spurs, to be honest I think they would be mental not to employ him. Professor Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 I don't mind this sort of rubbish being printed by the Daily Fail. Its nothing but a propaganda sheet that cares nothing about publishing lies. What I find sad, is the BBC repeating unfounded rumour as if it is fact as they did in the coverage of the World Cup squad announcement by saying that Southampton players were leaving as if the club and the players had agreed to that. BBC Sport seems to be so out of touch that they even allowed A Hansen to say on MotD that Southampton 'had' to sell its players.

They'd obviously try to get him for a knock-down price reflecting the injury, hoping that he makes a recovery so they're quids in. But it won't happen. shurlock Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 MP is clearly going there and I can see him wanting a few players. JRod would fit in very well there, Lovren would improve them a lot too. Again a shame as I really don't like Spurs! Lovren could do a bit better, as could MP, but don't think JRod is ready for much higher yet. Real shame we didn't do a little better this year, especially those 2 games v Spurs we should have won. Could have shown going to Spurs isn't some great step forward. But we're making it seem like a big step up if we're the ones selling off all our players. Wonder what players like JWP, Reed, Chambers, McQueen, Rowe are thinking. Disappointment? Excited they'll play more? Eager to prove themselves and get their own big move? I mean if any do well clearly they'll be sold. Great business model in theory, but in practice you'd have a really horrible atmosphere amongst the fans. Lowe got so much stick for securing a good deal for Walcott when we were stuck in the Championship. Been a long time since we were top flight and losing a best player, and even then with Bridge it was one player. Beattie it was a gamble to reinvest the funds. Now we simply just have too much talent and apparently it's not allowed. Why is clearly going there? He appears to be behind the likes of De Boer and Benitez. We're two places below them, they're not exactly miles better than us, and there's not exactly what you'd call job security at the Lane. Many of our players are only going to get better whilst Spurs' only striker is 30 and not going to get any better.

broncoboy Posted 13 May, 2014 Share Posted 13 May, 2014 At this rate we won't have a team left in a couple of weeks. Season ticket holders are to get to the ground early and bring their boots Those kids at half time are going to get their chance with a spine of over 60s to stiffen resolve I am worried. kpturner Posted 13 May, 2014 Share Posted 13 May, 2014 Of course, like most football fan opinions, they're based on rumour, instinct and other fans. Never claimed to be ITK about anything, just believe that MP will go. Just putting the pieces together based on little real evidence, but logic suggests there's little more he can do at Saints, we're likely to sell, he's in demand elsewhere and hasn't been overly keen to commit or say he'll be here next season. Thinking he'll leave isn't the biggest leap. Here's hoping your instincts are wrong then
