Compared to Hoddle, Venables never really got the criticism he deserved, and came away from Euro 96 with a reputation enhanced, after what was all in all a mediocre performance on the pitch (but overshadowed by one brilliant demolition of Netherlands).

 

Yes, great tournament for atmosphere ('Football's coming home' etc), but not TV's doing.

Didn't need to qualify.

Two years to prepare.

Our record over 90 minute matches P5 - W2 - D3 -L0 , pretty average. These were ALL at HOME.
