Adam Lallana - Medical at Liverpool

Dr Who?

Yes

But if it comes from Marca or As then it's probably fairly factual. Obviously they don't get it right all of the time but they have direct access into the top level management at Spanish clubs and don't usually need to make stuff up to sell their rags. Football isn't so secret squirrel outside of the UK.

This will be why Liverpool were so keen to biuy players so quickly -- before any news about Suarez going got out.

just as I said...or at least I think I might have done. Once Barca and Real come sniffing around any Hispanophone is a goner. It's their spiritual home(s),even though they come from the suburbs of Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

If what the scouse echo are alluding to and if llalana is saying that through Gerard and okay he can **** off .

I still think it's his agents and Gerard pushing this but I think llallanas career will be on the decline if he goes there .

Adam you need to man up and grow a pair

Even with Suarez, Liverpool's title challenge was based on a great run of 8 or 9 straight victories at the tailend of the season, some which they spawned.

With the burden of the CL, I think they'll struggle to make top 4 next year, without Suarez they're midtable.

However, I do feel sorry for LFC, it's not fair that Suarez should be unsettled by newspaper reports, they'd never act in that way, would they?

This is pretty disgraceful transfer dealing in the press by Liverpool. I hope Suarez does one and buggers off to a bigger club just to screw them over.

Interesting that; looking at the Liverpool Echo site it reminded me of the Mirror's website....and look who owns the Liverpool Echo? You guessed it....

I do love a bit of uninformed frothing at the mouth.

There's nothing in that story to suggest it is evil old Liverpool that planted that story.

Its very sweet that on this forum there remains a view that Adam Lallana is a sweet innocent helpless Saints devotee who had never considered earning more money or playing for one of world football's biggest clubs before horrible old Steven Gerrard got hold of him.

Maybe, juuuust maybe, Adam Lallana wants to join Liverpool of his own free will?

Completely correct, and why shouldn't he? Forget the loyalty thing, he's stayed with us because it suits him, now he's changing jobs because he's had a better offer. If we make him a better offer he might stay but I doubt it. I for one have no problem with that apathy from my own personal disappointment and that's my problem not AL'a isn't it?

Adam would do well to read some of the Liverpool fans forums before making a decision. At least we could forgive him... Liverpool fans think he's a waste of space....certainly not worth £30m

An example.

Adam Lallana huh???? Are you kidding me. 30 million pounds. Well, another Andy Carroll is about to enter LFC. Even Borini is a better player. Rogers will make a grave mistake to sign him for that crazy amount. With 30 million pounds Rogers can buy somebody like Benzema or Alexis Sanchez. When I see Lallana running and moving in the field I just laugh. No disrespect, but I just think he is just an average player and certainly should not be playing for LFC. It will definitely will be a waste.

england10:36am via TweetDeckLallana: "It’s another game and a chance to finish the tournament on a high, then get home and assess everything."

"assess everything" - in relation to England or Saints?

I wouldnt be surprised if he starts to have reservations about a Liverpool move. With Suarez gone and Gerrard unlikely to be as influential next season all of a sudden glory doesn't look so nailed on (though the money might).

But he might still want to be reunited with Podge at spurs.

Am a huge AL fan, however his performances for England in last two or three appearances have been quite poor. He has been very static, often too far advanced and out of reach of the ball and also standing like a statue whilst marked.....

I don't know if he has been over coached for England? England are far too Zonal with players appearing to have to be in a certain areas of the pitch but still AL has been a bit shaky....

Have to agree dont think Adam's value has been enhanced at the WC unlike Shaw who did Pretty well last night

I think Shaw will probably go and is likely to be First Choice LB for England but no idea about Lallanna never thought he was worth £25m a bit of a show pony sometimes without the real end product still a pretty good player but not really the Dogs Bollix

Sorry but whether lallana is worth 10, 15, or 30 mil is not the point. What we accept is all about what it would cost us to find a replacement equal to or better than him who would be willing to come here... To ensure we carry on progressing... Same with Shaw. The price is not what he is worth but what we think would allow us to find an equal replacement after, agents fees and sign on and bonuses have been taken care of... If we don't replace with equal or better we go backwards.

too many seem to now accept that there is nothing anyone can do, that unless a club spends 200mil, they will never get better than 8/9th and accept players will leave .... Sorry but we can, we can keep them and get them to honour there contracts and invest modestly to build on last years progress. The club just needs to have the balls to do it.

Fans are complicit in what the prem has done to football if are ' accepting' that it's just the way things are...

Some good points FC. I would expand the question of value and make the point that if we sell Lallana it must be for an amount that the club thinks will make us stronger overall, not just to replace AL. If we sold him and for the money got another Lovren, JRod and Gk then the actual figure is almost irrelevant.

The point of sport should be wrapped in learning, progression, a sense of achievement within structures that encourage all and favour none. And then there is professional sport, in particular football!!

It will take a very strong so called 'smaller club' to buck the PR juggernaut money making machine that is the Premier League. Maybe we could be that club...the next few months will give us a clue.

I'm with you FC. Just looking at last season, I can see us winning a fair few more games than we actually did, and while the points haul was our record for a 38 game season, I was slightly disappointed that we threw so many points away, as well as not finishing at least 7th. Maybe we should have had 4 more points from Sunderland, 3 from Spurs away, 3 from Villa at home etc etc. Just those lot come to 10 points and there are others as well. I am not sure whether we were still the team that threw away more points from a winning position or not, but not winning a game having gone behind is a bit concerning.

If the club is seen to treat its players poorly when they want to better themselves then new ones will possibly not want to join and younger players may not want long contracts.

I have found in life being confrontational is not always the best approach if Adam wants to go I think he should be allowed to go most people reading this board I expect would be ****ed off if their boss made them work when there was a better offer some where else.

Of course footballers have signed contracts but that is surely a benefit to SFC because they can get millions when players leave but not much if players had not signed longer contracts but if they are not sold they will eventually leave for nowt

How would we get new players in if other clubs adopted your approach

I just think it is normal these days for players not to be at clubs for long periods so it is great that we have such a good Academy but you raise an interesting point which I feel is more theoretical than practical

Football is a team game we may lose a couple of players and replace them by lesser players but as long as we replace more lesser players with better ones we will progress but I doubt the club has the ability to progress to be a consistent top 6 club but who knows

but Frank since I have followed the Saints the best players have been sold on to bigger clubs. I can't see how we can change that. Perhaps if the players are brought through from a very young age they might feel more loyal to the club but having agents on their case 24/7 will unsettle.

players want to win things and I suspect they will not get much opportunity here.

As for agents , they are abig problem, their greed to squeeze every penny out of a players potential is detrimental, IMO so many players lose their way when they start advertising campaigns or promoting products. Their eye is taken off the ball, it seems mad to me that they earn so much and then have to drive up and down motorways to film shampoo ads or the like. It is pathetic, don't they know they have more than they need?

The World Cup has revealed to the world what we already knew if we were honest great player though Adam is he is too one paced to make it to the very top of the game and certainly not a 30m player. Interesting to see what Liverpool decide now the hype has eased off.

Shaw has done the reverse he looked quality when he finally got a chance and I'm sure the vultures will be circling low and in numbers!

I think the board made a mistake in not taking the money while they could. I don't think we can play hard ball on him now. Potentially we will get back a player who is disenchanted , and perhaps like. MLT when his England dreams got crushed became a shell of the player he was ( not that I put AL in MLT bracket)

Shaquiri has scored two goals for Switzerland; rumours abound that Liverpool are getting tired of chasing us for Adam and switching their attentions to Shaquiri. Good news for us.

Not really, was hoping we would sell Lallana for £28m and buy Shaquriri for £18m

we've yet to convince an £18m player to join us and we're working with a one in three success rate on big money transfers since we were promoted.

i'd be circumspect about replacing adam, even if there are shiny prospects elsewhere.

I haven't been watching the Switzerland/Honduras game tonight, but in the first game, Shaquiri really wasn't very good at all. I'm not convinced.
