I'm with you here Jeff. Lallana's been great for Saints and last season he played out of his skin under MP. However I will be amazed if in 12 months time he is valued at anything like that money, and his apparent determination to be off has dulled the affection of many a supporter, including me.

I have no idea, but if all we have heard is true, that would be about right to take it from 20 to 23 then to 26 to cover the cherry's cut, wouldn't it?

 

Of course if it works out at 19.9m then that is derisory, outrageous etc.

That's exactly it. If you make a final offer after you have already made a final offer you have handed the advantage to the seller.

Its only mid June, they have got over 2 months to make a few more final offers :)

I love the way clubs like Liverpool think that they can use their cast offs as make weights? If Borini was so good, why isn't he in a Liverpool shirt rather than being farmed out to Sunderland? And if there is a chance that we might sign Pelle, why would we take Borini? If we wanted Borini, then he is the type of player who isn't in such demand that we couldn't just put a bid in without him being part of a make weight deal.

Osvaldo certainly won't be back.

but he's not quality IMo. He is lightweight and hardly prolific. As i recall he was dire at the start of the season. Didnt he also collapse in the dressing rooms at halftime in one game?

Borini was at Sunderland and scored 7 goals in 32 league games. Sunderland really struggled and it could have ended with them going down. So personally, I am a little more ambitious than having a striker who scores once every 4.5 games and I want more from Saints than to equal Sunderland.

 

He is younger than Pelle that is true.

Love Ads, forever a Saint and I hope he continues to improve year on year. But if he feels his time at St.Marys is over (for now) then £20m is a good wedge and about right IMO.

Don't forget that that would only be £15 million cash for saints with £5 mill for Bournemouth. It's not enough to replace him with someone as good.

After all, we're a selling club. Witness how we sold Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Bale, etc. Lallana isn't worth more than £15 million, £20 million tops, etc,etc.

 

We really do need to refuse to budge from £30 million up front for him and £20 million for Lovren, again all up front. Let's see who blinks first. They will learn a valuable lesson and all the other big clubs will watch them learn it. It is that we don't need the money and if anybody wants our players, then they will have to pay through the nose for them.

The concept of worth is obviously something that they don't quite grasp. How can anyone say how much he is worth as there is no set defined way of doing so? Therefore as he is registered/contracted with us, it is us who decide what value we will accept. As you say, it maybe inconvenient that little old Saints don't roll over and be grateful that Liverpool want to sign half our team, but shït happens.

 

Before the end of the season, Liverpool and Spurs were always the two PL teams that I disliked more than others. Liverpool seem so damned arrogant even while living in the shadow of Man U for the pasty 20 years. There seems to be a thought that they deserve to be at the top. It may well transpire that they will, as the dominating force in the league always seems to change and I can't see Man U being up there for 4 or 5 years. I also took exception to being told that all neutrals wanted Liverpool to win the PL last season - I certainly diidn't and actually wanted Chelsea and then Citeh. Spurs, also seem to think similarly, but with them, it's more personal after having come out of WHL in the 1990s (think 1998 ) after a 1-1 draw and being involved in a totally unprovoked fight. Since the end of the season, my opinion has not changed.

Who the hell do the scousers think they are FFS?! I'll tell you what they're trying to do - hoover up the best players from one of their rival clubs...they know we could pose a serious threat to them next season and they're trying to de-stabilise us. Wait until they offer what we've asked for - £30m - no less - up front. With some decent incoming players we'll be making their life a misery this coming season just like we did last season.

 

As for Lallana - frankly if all the rumours are true he's really let himself down. Instead of attempting to stand head and shoulders to the likes of Gerrard as Captain of a top 8 Prem side, he looks like some whining little subservient boy. Man up Lallana and stand up for something that matters - something you've helped to create. The alternative is obscurity and eventual rejection as a nobody in scouser history.

To be fair, I have no idea of the precise, actual, or rumoured percentages involved (have Liverpool already secured an agreement with Bournemouth? etc) or the amount offset by 'Add-Ons'.

 

My totally uninformed assumption was that the £26m WOULD give Bournemouth their cut AND us about £20m 'Up Front'. Maybe Bournemouth get a twenty percent cut instead (5m) and 1m gets paid in instalments per champions league game?

 

I dunno! Just riffing on the progression from 20-23-26 million.

Whats next a change of name to the Liverpool Saints, there ****ing arrogance is mind numbing, I did see on bbc today that Lallana is looking forward to meeting with the new manager,maybe there is hope; as for Liverpool, "go forth and multiply"

strange how everyone is so quick to praise our Academy products (like Lallana) and yet when it comes to buying one, they shy away from the high price tag.

 

Good players cost money.....just look at some of the fees that some Prem. clubs have forked out on " foreign rejects " (and even some English ones)

 

well it's seller's market Brendan ......and Adam is top of the list. Final word; you want him?....so either put up .....or shut up !

Loving the 'pool fans squawking about the valuation. They just don't seem to get it.

 

AL may well be worth say £18m where all parties want to the deal to happen. But, we don't want to sell him. This is the bit they can't / won't get their head around. They need to add a number to the £18m which will change our mind. It really is simple supply and demand.

 

That said £26m up front would be a fair deal IMO
