Adam Lallana - Medical at Liverpool

Dr Who?

heard some interesting gossip / information on the lallana to liverpool links. i heard fro someone at the bournmouth end if the conversation (close enough to be involved in any decision making) that liverpool have offered slightly north of 24 million however the caveat is that its paid in installments over 4 years (didnt ask how many).

Bournemouth have absolutely said no chance we want our 25% up front no negotiation andsaints also have said all up front or no deal as we need to spend the cash on replacements.

clearly liverpool have a budget for a number of players needed to bolster their squad for CL and dont want to spend a large chunk on one player up front so will only pay over 4 years.

sounds like unless either party backs down nothing will be happening and young adz will be returning to SMS with his tail between his legs.

And why should We, Bournemouth or anybody else be in existence to serve the Scousers every whim and fancy.

Either they put up or shut up and go elsewhere for their "bargains" to advance their Champions of Europe claims!!

Cue much wailing from the LIverpool mafia on TV (not least Jocky "They've gotta sell" Hanson") !!

Just pretty peed off with this lot thinking they can dictate what they want at the expense of others - I hope Adam is beginning to realise they are wanting to "underbuy" him and stays around with us with the Skippers armband that comes with the job!

Interesting, but do Bournemouth have any real say in how the deal is structured? Also, can they afford to be too demanding given their level of debts?

Here is an additional part of the BBC interview that's just been posted. Adam looks more like his old self, speaks again well of the club and how they were so supportive when he had his heart murmur problems. No wife with him in Brazil but his parents and other relations are there.

Atmosphere in Manaus much better than at St Mary's. Cheers Adam.

Just crap anyway, hardly any football transfers are paid in full at the time of transfer, that's why we owe 27 million £ for previous transfers. Still asking for cash in advance is a good way to ensure no player ever leaves the club during the period of his contract. It is also an excellent way to ensure that no-one ever wants to sell you players on favourable terms.

You are spot on of course but when it happens it just bad negotiation on the part of the selling club, or at least reflective of a club that wants or needs to sell, neither of which apply to us at the moment happily

Perhaps we are too occupied with Liverpool and their bid. I fear the unshaven podgy dago at THFC is likely to stir this one up again after WC.

Casual racism aside, AL is still very full of praise for MP. But, I severely doubt Spurs could match our valuation

Looking at the centre backs he's supposed to be chasing, you wonder what his transfer budget is?

If he wants to ply his trade with us next season, then I am all for that If he doesn't, so be it. He might have had his head turned, he might have changed, but frankly, if anyone (including Osvaldo) wants to try their best and to help Saints move onwards and upwards, to me they are welcome. We can all take the moral high ground or we can be magnanimous. We can cut our nose off to spite our face, but really, the club comes first. He hasn't lost us any money, he hasn't done anything apart from dream about the bright lights and the greener grass on the other side of the fence. It would be foolish to not look at all your options. He, or his advisers, might have been ill advised at the way they have gone about things, but that's hardly crime of the century. Maybe he is just wanting an increase in his contract. There is a lot of "propaganda" so who knows what's what?

Good post.

I will be very happy if he is still with us next season.

Every summer I get lots of offers from perspective new clients. This means I have to weigh up who I want to work with, and who I will drop from the previous academic year. Lots of factors come into play. It's life.

Won't stop them making similar derisory offers (as Liverpool have) just to test the water, and unsettle the player hoping it works to their advantage though.

Assume AL will not be going the route of appointing Jonathan Barrett as his new agent.

Not sure who they're looking at, other than a vague media link to Lovren, and today's rumour re O'Shea. Clearly opposite ends of the maeket.

As they're trying to pay 32 million for Lukaku it must be substantial, still there won't be much left after that. depends on who they can offlload really I expect, same as us,same as everybody.

It's football, it's fickle.

If Lallana goes, loads of fans will no doubt boo him for the first game we see him back, but equally if he's still here ripping Liverpool to pieces on the opening day, the same fans will be swaying their arms and saying he makes Messi looks sh*te.

It's the "One Jerry Edwards" syndrome ... ;)

A lot of clubs structure their deals over a period of time, us being one of them.

Very true. He stuck by us as we dropped through the leagues and must sometimes look at Ox, Bale and Walcott and wonder what might have been.

The wages is the biggest factor - his agent would be saying, your stock is high just now and you have a (limited) golden opportunity to make millions.

what we all do in the same situation???

I like Adam and don’t understand the stick he gets. He had a fantastic season and to my knowledge has never publically said anything against Saints.

It might be something to do with the long-term contract he wanted which the club gave him and he was happy to sign just over a year ago, and now wants to rip up because it suits him.

It's because Gerrard and Liverpool have tapped him up since he first put on an England shirt. Well look at the loyalty they've shown to him. Offered Saints a joke £16m with add ons and now looking elsewhere after having him obey their orders and put his reputation on the line. Lallana should learn from Liverpools actions. He's damaged his reputation, damaged his captaincy, has gone from a respected England star whose professionalism at Southampton was admired by most of England to - as Clattenburg rightly identified - a changed man since he played for England and discovered the great Liverpool. He became arrogant.

I hope he changes back. But I fundamentally blame Liverpool for making him act like a spoilt brat. It's now time for him to make amends and channel his revenge towards Liverpool.

Aye. A hattrick on August the 16th.

How good would that be? Capped only by a Rickie Lambert own goal so we can sing about Southamptons goal machine!

An own goal from Rickie is probably the least that he owes us. He can start his Liverpool career once they have played us. An own goalfrom him would start to repay us for what we have done for him.

Make it an own-goal hat-trick and a missed penalty for Liverpool and we'll be evens.

Laughable. It's like he would never have considered playing for Champions League qualifying, one of the biggest clubs in the world Liverpool before he got called up for England. Never crossed his mind.

So Lallana is just Some dopey Saints yokel whose head was turned by evil scousers. "Whaaaa? You mean people can play for a different club? Thanks for telling me Mr Gerrard sir."

This forum never lets you down if it's idiocy you're after.

I thought they were going to walk away if this wasnt completed by the WC ?

I also thought the last offer was "take it or leave it" ?

Also interesting the reports now talk about mainly cash-up-front rather than daft structuring.

Personally think we should keep them straining at the leash and see how far the theiving tw*ts will really go...

you are top class at mocking CB , what were your words when somebody had a go at yo for your opinions .Something about your right to a view and shouldn't be slapped down. I can't be a##### to go and look but you got all precious.

As for AL head turned by Gerrard, I agree AL would have had thoughts about other clubs but having Gerrard in your ear encouraging you can make you jump. Had Gerrard been negative I suspect it would make AL less likely to leave. I am sure we have all tapped up players from other clubs to join us in our own sporting world, not professional of course but a word in the ear does make a difference

They have conducted themselves poorly this summer.

Yep. They really come out of this looking stupid, desperate and aggressive.

I have visions of some major nervous breakdowns occuring on Merseyside because they choked last years title. It was the same in 1989 when they lost that last game to Arsenal.

CBs sneering and mockery is in overdrive at the moment - every opportunity - to be honest its too much now and hes is beginning to look a bit silly.

£26M ? Depends how it is structured. In my view either all paid up front, or bugger off.

This is an England international at the top of his game, the c^nts are trying to buy, not a bloody sofa from a Littlewoods catalogue on the 'never never'.

Exactly if Adam goes he needs replacing and we are going to need the money from the sale to do that cash upfront or bugger off. I will say that even though we may lose some good players yet this summer I can't fault the board for making every effort to keep them. Funny that only a few weeks ago people were complaining that the board were weak and we were going to let people go for peanuts seems like the board are tougher than people gave them credit for.

If that is a clear £20m plus £6 of nonsense, I mean add-ons, I say we take it.

Love Ads, forever a Saint and I hope he continues to improve year on year. But if he feels his time at St.Marys is over (for now) then £20m is a good wedge and about right IMO.

When you say 20M do you mean pre- or post-Bournmouth cut ?

I cant see us going for less than 20M cash-in-hand.
