Adam Lallana - Medical at Liverpool

It is a shame that after all his years with the club, that Lallana seems to have blotted his copybook with a lot of Saints' fans. Certainly not the club's fault and you do wonder if it is a case of ego having expanded in direct ratio to instances of his name featuring in the media but in the end, being good at football doesn't in itself make a person any more worthy as a human being.

If Adam thought he might want to leave Southampton in the foreseeable future, he shouldn't have signed a long contract and should have accepted the lower pay that would have resulted. When he was tapped-up on behalf of Liverpool, which regardless of whether there was personal contact with him, was certainly done by way of by the leaks to the media, he should have been honest about it and if he wanted to leave, he should have made a transfer request, which would of course, affected any 'loyalty payment'.

There is an impression of excessive self-interest by a young man who like many footballers is paid out of proportion to what they do. Premier League footballers don't get have high earnings because they do an important job, but simply because there is so much TV money sloshing around in football that the participants are able to each grab a share.

If the new manager does want to keep Lallana and either persuades him to stay or the club refuses to release him, either way its going to take a lot of PR effort to re-build bridges with the fans. If he turns out in our first home match in August, there may well be a few boos amongst the cheers unless a very good story is put out.

As I wrote, while it is unfortunate it was not said with any malice. I realise that the criticism being levelled at him is due to people thinking that he has a somewhat self-aggrandised view of himself, but which PL footballer doesn't? (Well, I don't think RL does, but it was a generalisation) And in his defence, he gets taken there (not voluntarily) and gets asked a question. What was he supposed to say - something esoteric? Maybe he said the first thing that came to mind without really thinking about it. Maybe he meant to say it differently. Isn't it a bit of a non-story? He may well also not know the link between the favelas and football/sport and that Brazilians already have many (sporting) heroes - is that really basis for criticising him? And I hardly think that he meant to come across as being the character portrayed in Huff's subheading that says "To be around me may be a life-changing experience for you."

Anyway, I consider actions like Liam Ridgewell posting photos of himself wiping his butt with £20 notes or Phil Bardsley on the casino floor covered in £50 notes is worse.

This. Nail on head. He was an idiot for speaking without thinking, although he probably can't come out and defend himself at the moment whilst behind the England protective fence. I would be interested in what he has to say regarding all the speculation when he gets back.

On a separate note, it really disappoints me to see so much negativity about Adam. Although I suppose it comes with the territory now that he is established in the England squad.

Whether he stays or goes, I hope people will appreciate what he's achieved for us over the past six or seven years. I certainly do.

Just think for one second about some of the absolute dross that we have had the misfortune to watch over the past ten years...some utter mercenaries turned out in the red and white. He isn't one of them, no way.

I love how Liverpool are meant to be so great but all you scousers really wanna be is Southampton. You wanna be little ol' Saints, don't cha?. :) You little cutie pie!!!!!!!!!!!

It'd be much easier for you to just get a ST at St Mary's.

We offer you 25 millions, that is maximum for Lallana, but you are so greedy...I think you don't deserve him.

Now you see old bean, if we hold his registration and he is contracted to us, we can set the value, not you northern tea leaves. That's business. If you "owned" him then you can set the value. But you don't, so you have to meet our valuation. We obviously rate him higher than you do :)

Liverpool or anyone else that wants to buy one of our players is going to have to pay through the nose. Nobody is going anywhere for their value. Because of the long contracts a massive fee up front will be the requirement. Liverpool have done nothing yet that convinces me that they want to or can afford to do that and pay inflated wages. Sadly for Liverpool to buy Lambert, Lallana and Lovren it is pretty much going to cost them their complete £60m 2014 budget.

You see the thing is that down in the beautiful south where people dress correctly and parent(s) can count past 10 we don't need the money and considering you payed over 30 mill for a horse I don't see that the future of the England squad is worth any less than 25.

Well he is here until 2018 unless the club think his inflated fee makes him worth selling. So in a few words you either pay or **** off. He isn't going to kick off because not playing won't get him in the England team with the Euro qualifiers up next.

Suarez perfect for Real Madrid, says everyone outside of Liverpool and a few inside it. But you just won't sell him. I don't think you deserve him.

Shouldn't she be Wagging in Brazil with all the other Super Stars Bimbo wifies?

You sould have tapped her up, slipped her a few Rhohypnopol (?) and got some compromising pics of her with Bearsy in order to Blackmail AL into staying ;-)

There are rumours that his wife doesn't want to leave the South and is happy here.

...apparently.

don't be silly. when I mentioned wife and new baby might be happy here and being part of any decision about moving, I was told not to be so naive.

I see the Fail are talking about Spurs now which would fit nicely with CL footie!
