BotleySaint Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 (edited) People wanted the board to fight for him. That's what they seem to be doing. If he wants to go there is no easy way to make him stay but risk a 'worsening' of relationships. What can they do except ignore him until Liverpool put in the bid they want? Right or wrong, they are playing hard. Edited 1 June, 2014 by BotleySaint

Turkish Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 In defence of the board they want the best deal for the club. If Lallana wants to go then he has to put in a transfer request and sacrifice whatever bonuses he is entitled to. Fair enough, maybe they should have picked up the phone to him but if he is pushing for the move he goes on our terms and puts in a request to move. Don't really see what the board have done wrong there.

Bending to the player's whims is one thing -the clubs interests are the priority; but not answering phone calls is another. Saint Charlie Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 (edited) If they ignore calls because they are playing hardball then thats one thing, but I imagine its more a case of them just not knowing what to actually say. Absolute bunch of amateurs in charge, not enough football administration expertise and ultimately too much naivety at PL level compared to other well run clubs. Too many executive level people with no clear deliniation of who does what. We never hear from the CEO who effectively is top dog. Bizarre. He has said lots of players are unsettled and this was before the match on Friday. If this was such a problem whyvdid he not question RK on it? As said, he's either a **** journalist, not knowing the correct questions to ask, or he's exaggerating to get people to follow him/read his articles more. Not like journalists to do that is it Charlie? andybeal Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 The situation hasn't been helped by Hodgson and England allowing medicals etc to take place this weekend and in Miami - the England players should be totally focused on the task in hand. Lallana is looking like a spoilt child at the moment, it's a shame that his career at Saints is drawing to a close in this way, but from where i see it , it is totally down to him. If he wants to go he should put in a transfer request and give the board a decent amount of time to get all offers together.

The club don't want to sell, but if they are forced into it they want £30mill I actually commend the board for looking after the clubs best interest If they are refusing to sell it gives me a glimmer of hope that we may be looking to build on the success we had last season and that they considered SRL as surplus to requirements as we are going to get in a worldly next season Like I said its a glimmer of hope
