View From The Top Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 @andybowerman - have a read of the timeline. Doesn't make good reading, especially the part when the mentions players being told the club needs to "cash in".

Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 Goolie ? Jos ? Doesnt mean anything yet. Not sure you would describe that as 'cashing in'.
farawaysaint Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 https://mobile.twitter.com/AndyBowerman Talk of several goodbyes I hate summer.
Minty Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 I hate summer. I don't, it's fun watching people get their knickers in a twist. People need to learn to deal with it. Players come and go, that's football.
alpine_saint Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 Not sure you would describe that as 'cashing in'. Osvaldo ? The Gash ?

View From The Top Posted 12 May, 2014 Author Posted 12 May, 2014 We have an official chaplain? Apparently every club has one. Who knew??
shurlock Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 I agree but it's fun watching people fall apart as their dream of UCL football melts away. Don't be ridiculous- most people want to see us build on what we have, that's it. Boll**ks about the champions league has nothing to do with it.
Sour Mash Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 Do we have an offical Mullah or Guru to ensure equality for all of our fans? What do they say about the transfer news?

Boll**ks about the champions league has nothing to do with it. Most people, in that case, are going to be bitterly disappointed. The question is whether we are losing players because they want to go or are we losing players because the club wants to sell them.?
Gambol2K9 Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 It's Lallana, Shaw and Lovren that are keen to go. Lovrens been saying goodbyes to friends so he clearly expects to be off.
shurlock Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 Most people, in that case, are going to be bitterly disappointed. The question is whether we are losing players because they want to go or are we losing players because the club wants to sell them.? Who knows - ultimately, there's only so far they can go with us. Given Lallana's age and the fact he's had only one full season at the very top, can see why he would want to take advantage of this window of opportunity. Shaw, though the brighter prospect, is a different matter. Time is on his side and he's in a relatively pressure-free environment where he can continue to learn. Jackonary's posts made the upside pretty clear. Guess what we do with the proceeds will give some clue as to the board's motivations and the answer.

Gambol2K9 Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 I was as surprised as you but a friend of mine knows him in a professional capacity and he said his goodbyes on thursday. She knows nothing about football so assumed it was common knowledge. A seperate friend of mine that works at the club told me last week that 3 players were keen on a move to a bigger club. Couldn't say anymore for obvious reasons, although accidentally slipped and gave away Shaw. I assume the other is Lallana and now I guess Lovren too. Would be a disaster.
Professor Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 The club has said that players will leave - the ones the manager doesn't want to retain. They have also said that requests to speak to players under contract who the manager wants to keep will be refused. That is where things are at the moment, regardless of rumour and whispers. This can't rule out a change of stance if the board fail to produce a credible plan to go up a level but until the manager and the players know what that is, decisions are unlikely to be taken. Why should any player want to leave if, having finished 8th, the club was to bring in several international class players to boost the squad? But equally, if the board can't see a way to strengthen on top of what we already have, desires to stay will be affected, although it would still take a lot for a player to break his contract if that was against the wishes of the club. The Club Statement on this is the key to the key summer. No sign yet when that will come but this is only Day One and the first step is obviously the negotiations with Pochettino.
Bearsy Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 It seems Cortese has even got Baby Jesus on his despicable payroll! This is frankly disgusting! More time contemplating ur sins, and less time spreading destabilising cortese bullshits in future pls, man of cloth!

Add to that Osvaldo and maybe even Gaston and that's a lot of money coming in and a lot of talent going out. If that actually happens, I can't see the likes of Morgan, Clyne and JRod wanting to hang about too long.

BlakeySFC Posted 12 May, 2014 Posted 12 May, 2014 Let's just wait and see what happens eh, lets not go into meltdown everytime someone hardly reliable tweets/says something that can't be proven and probably hasn't been decided on yet.

That's gotta be up there with 'Just ignore the trolls' as advice on this place... perfectly sound advice, but unlikely to be followed by the large number who just can't help themselves. ;-)

That's where you are wrong bear, Nicki C brought in the god guy to fight off bids from other clubs. Now the midget son of god as gone, god guys powers have been weakened. This is why he has had to say good bye to a few of the players.
