I'd go for that. I think he's a cracking player who MU have underused. Put in him in a team where he'd be a regular starter and watch him flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Interesting!! Somehow I can't see Hernandez coming to us. Why he has stayed at United for so long after what, at least in my eyes, he has been treated shabbily is anyone's guess.

Yeah, sadly that is not going to happen. Would be awesome.

I love your thinking Alpine. Because Gerrard "tapped up" Rickie by telling him Liverpool is a great club and encouraging him to join them in case Liverpool bid for him (I would imagine that was a very long conversation and Rickie needed a lot of persuading) when on England duty, you are now anti-England. Yup, makes sense.

Nope, always been anti-England.

I only drop that stance when it is clear the authorities (Blatter at FIFA, Platini at UEFA) are shafting England over things like rankings/seedings or when I think for a brief moment in time, 3 loyal servants from my club will be amongst their ranks.

Philippine Your being totally unfair about alpine . He is so supportive of everything saints. Each day I see his copied post on this forum they give me inspiration , hope and positivity .

He should ask Ralph if he can be employed as the 1st teams motivational speaker . We would not lose many games . They would get so hacked off with him that they would have so much pent up frustration they would have the opposition with their backs to the wall we would end up winning the league

Yeah, they are even going to play Milner at right back to make Shaw look good. Hodgson really wants him to move to a big club.

I read that about Milner, seems like strange thing to do, then again it's only against Ecuador who are a bit hit and miss. Not too bad against the Dutch, not at all great against Mexicio. So Shaw might be up against Valencia in today's game, interesting test for him.

I honestly think Roy wants to pick Shaw ahead of Baines, but just needs Shaw to have blinder so that he has the whole of England wanting the same.

It's a done deal and has been for a long while

Will probably be for slightly more than 27m but most likely just add ons after that sum which are target based and sell on profit etc

It won't be Chelsea or City either

Done deal but he's a secret man u player? Or maybe man u aren't very commercial and can't be bothered to announce that one of most talked about players at world cup is theirs?

Or just maybe, there was no deal a month ago and the club, when making official company statements don't lie? And still 100% a saint until given option of leaving for united (which I don't think is a 100% certainty) only if we accept a fee, we haven't, and h e agrees term

Interesting if true:-

Luke Shaw is replaceable at LB, quite possibly by Matt Target, but if the deal included a replacement striker of Hernandez quality, Saints could end up better off.

Agreed, imagine it Hernandez in the middle with Mayuka bombing down the wings providing crosses.......

Have you seen Target play? I haven't, but I'd wager he is a massive step down from Shaw. I don't think some fans realise what a player Shaw is. He totally opponents last season and had most on the back foot. Not a chance we will end up better off from his sale.

I've seen him 3/4 times in academy games - hasn't stood out at all. My friend also reffed a few games in academy games, shares my view that he's nowhere near Shaw. Given that he's only 3 months younger than Shaw and Saints seem to favour playing Clyne on the left when Shaw is out, I doubt he's anywhere near ready for PL.

That said, he's playing England age group games and has signed a contract with us so there must be something about him. Nevertheless, borderline zero chance of us starting the season with him as a number 1 left back.

When Evra signed a one year extension I felt maybe Luke's deal had fallen thru or, perhaps, the deal is that Luke is loaned back to Saints for 1 year. In all I've read in statements by Luke I've never thought he'd not be at the club next season.

Indeed - I wonder if they listen?

I'm sure they do. They were clueless boardroom clowns only two weeks ago but thanks to your intervention they've turned into super competent negotiators with a plan. You should go into strategic leadership consultancy. Either that or learn not to **** your knickers at every newspaper story.

When i've seen him it struck me just how physically immature he is compared to Shaw. Very similar to Gareth Bale just before he started to flourish. The lad needs time.

I'm saving up all the best bedwetting quotes from earlier in the Summer ready for when the window slams shut. Will be a fun day.

I hope he does stay, and Lallana. Although I think Shaw has been far more professional - AL has burnt some bridges, but we're a fickle bunch. A good performance under Koeman and some badge kissing should fix it!

Now just need Osvaldo to kiss and make up, Gaston to get some fire in his belly and our own J Rod to get back from injury and back to his old best and we are away !

Didn't you get banned as Dibden Purlieu Saint for excessive bedwetting? The re-invention continues apace...

I put it down to your incisive interventions.

Still there's 8 weeks or so to go before we have a competitive team and a demonstration by the board that they intend to build and challenge rather than sell our players below market value... Such as Rickie Lambert for example, where we were done like kippers, but might have learnt a lesson.....

We shall see.

England defender Luke Shaw surprised fans with his choice of his toughest opponent during a Twitter Q&A with fans.

The Southampton left back, preparing to face the world's best in Brazil, picked out forward Victor Moses, playing for Liverpool on loan from Chelsea.

When asked who was his toughest opponent, Shaw said: 'That's a tough one but I'm going for Victor Moses, purely for his pace and power found it a very difficult test.'

Shaw also revealed that 'Arsenal away was the hardest game of the season' and if he had the choice to play another position he 'would want to be a forward, scoring goals must be a great feeling and that's something I haven't felt.'

The 18-year-old was selected ahead of Chelsea's Ashley Cole in Roy Hodgson's 23-man World Cup squad and when he received the call the 'first person I told was my mu

Shaw is currently in Miami preparing for the World Cup and 'out here we have been playing golf and also a bit of table tennis, atmosphere is great around the camp.'

The player who 'been most impressed with winger Raheem Sterling over the last couple of weeks', while the 'funniest team-mate will have to be Phil Jagielka.'

Shaw ignored questions from Manchester United fans about his proposed £27million move to Old Trafford during the summer.

But after just one season at St Mary's he already has his sights set on glory as he 'would love to win the World Cup and the Champions League one day.'
