so... what if?

sorry for the lack of info in the thread title but I wanted to get some opinions...

Lets say MP and lallana leave this summer.

Poch goes to tottenham and lallana is sold to liverpool for around 35 million causing a meltdown on here and twitter (god knows that happens all the time)

BUT

Saints enquire of the status of david moyes/frank de boyer etc, they also enquire about players along the lines of el shawwrawy and Lukaku and caulker etc.

what If that happend? how would you feel?

we MAY have to accept this could happen but Im sure they will both stay. Is there anyone else you would like to take charge in case MP leaves? and who would you like to fill in lallanas boots while more youth players come through? lets be honest it wont be long untill this Josh sims lad comes into the first team!

Discuss.....

Pointless question. 'Speculative' rather than 'pointless'

If we were going to enquire about the likes of Lukaku then we wouldn't be losing the Manager and our star players.

Not logically true - if we had 35m cash then we may well be enquiring about some high profile replacements (not that RL is a direct AL replacement)

I'm pretty relaxed about it all - 'everybody' prefers Option A, manager and players staying; worst-case scenario is that next season we have a new manger and some new players.

Pretty much agree with Adrian, to keep your best players or to make any form of progression you need to show a level of ambition. Finding managers of Pochs level is very hard. And to sign players near Shaw/lallanas level of ability is nigh on impossible.

We need to try our best to keep that intact, losing maybe one isnt the end of the world but a couple and the cards will fall down.

As for Lukaku he is good but he isnt exceptional, he is massively overhyped IMO, Id rather go for Bony or Benteke

What we need to keep in mind here is that last season West Brom were 8th, they showed no desire to progress whatsover and it all fell apart for them. We need to stop the "academy at all costs" ballax and buy what we need now and then try to fit in any of the youngsters who are actually good enough to play at the level we want to be at. Like Shaw.

the loss of one player (two if you include Fortune to Wigan), Lukaku, had a huge negative effect on the effectiveness of their side. They did replace them with the much touted Vydra, the exciting, but underperforming Sessegnon and the ageing Anelka, but bringing players in that are as good as the ones that left is very tough as we may find out again.

we're deffo due a shit manager, we've had 3 in a row do pretty decent jobs. Simple statistical analysis tells you the next one is gonna be a real stinker. I wouldn't be surprised if they give the job to someone like alan shearer or barry sanchez.

LOL

Barry Sanchez as manager .... well there's a thought. I did once think about what would happen if a fan became our manager but I don't really want a Pomopey fan as our gaffer!.
