Gemmel Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 As fantastic as a season we have had, I am assuming there won't be a pitch invasion? Would be a tad embarrassing IMO (Although perhaps not as embarrassing as Readings) Additionally - We might get an insight into some players futures, based on their reactions during a lap of honour. sydneysaint17 Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 Pitch invasion would be very embarrassing - we've had a good season. Good - not spectacular. It would undermine the celebrations for previous and future successes if we carnivalize the last game of every single season. On top of that, the players certainly wouldn't like it - sure they would much rather do a lap with their family's.
alehouseboys Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 I'm sure a couple of posters on here are on a wind-up but if you do decide to run onto the pitch (and yeah, it would be cringy) don't be surprised to see the mancs quickly join you. If you're up to taking them on then fill her boots.

Fan The Flames Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 Lauging at all the people saying how cringy it will be; when I was a teenager living in Brighton and going to the Goldstone, getting on the pitch for the last game of the season was never about celebrating the season achievements it was just about the fun of getting on the pitch. I don't know what you did in the Dell in those days. So if a load of kids want to run on to the pitch good for them. Also I don't think the stewards/police will let the Man U fans on the pitch as well.
Chewy Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 2 games in 1 season (or is the Everton game a myth GS?). Nah. I can't believe the asylum are letting him out twice in quick succession. Maybe they think he's getting better, but judging by what I read I'm not so sure.

Whitey Grandad Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 It wouldn't embarrass me, but I'm not a precious over-sensitive wilting wallflower with an inferiority complex. It's the end of a reasonably good season and an opportunity to close it off with a show of enthusiasm for the players and our wonderful owner. Whitey Grandad Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 just to clarify things, for anyone over the age of 12, whats exciting about going on the pitch? You've obviously never tried it. Anyone under 12 will be running around screaming with their arms in the air, it's what children do in a big open space. Others will be calmly enjoying the situation and quietly taking in how the stadium looks from a totally different viewpoint. And of course it's something that's illegal for the rest of the year. Gemmel Posted 9 May, 2014 Author Share Posted 9 May, 2014 From a personal perspective, the only thing that would encourage me to go on the pitch, is if that plank on the PA system (Who only appears at the last game of the season - Is he a copper?) spends the whole of second half telling us not too. Note to plank; Two announcements will be fine, three at an absolute push if we are spanking utd and Guly scores. But however much you like the sound of your own voice, continual announcements from 46 mins through to 90 are not required.

Absolutely, the reason the Championship relegation pitch invasion turned nasty was the constant "stay off the pitch" messages and worst of all, bringing the dogs out. That suddenly got everyone angry and turned a good natured pitch invasion into something pretty lairy. The following season was my last foray into the Northam. The whole stand spent the entire 2nd half singing "on the pitch, on the pitch..." etc, booing the PA announcement then at the final whistle, when a hundred or so do run on they boo them and call them "w*****s". Made me realise the Northam is full of all mouth no action muppets, season ticket moved after that. Up the Itchen!

Barry Sanchez Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 So you think Wigan did better last year then us this year? For me yes, I would take a Cup and relegation as I am old enough to remember when winning meant something, we only want to stay in the Premiership and remain at the party on the fringes, they have a day they will remember for the rest of their lives but that's just me. alehouseboys Posted 9 May, 2014 Share Posted 9 May, 2014 Sounds like like you are stuck in the '70's and '80's ! And it sounds like you've got your head stuck up you arse The Mancs have played up every time they've been down. The OB struggled big time to keep control in the Cup game and there's some still smarting from the last time we played them last game of season when one of theirs got seriously injured in clashes before the game. If ours get on the pitch I can't see there being enough stewards/coppers to contain them.
