My initial thoughts were positive.

 

Great to see as many of our players as possible representing themselves, their countries and SFC at the World Cup.

 

However on a more parochial level, I wonder if the lack of a summer break will mean that our World Cup players may return tired, or carrying knocks from the competition?

Maya? Not a first teamer. Ramirez? Same. Osvaldo? Will be leaving. Lambert and possibly shaw? In the squad but will hardly play. Lallana? Possibly, but England's likely early exit will soften the blow. Apart from perhaps lovren, I really don't see it being an issue.

Our England lot will be playing four games, top. The winners will play seven. I don't see it as much of an excuse, barring severe injury.
