Starts tonight, 7pm on Sky Sports. Best sporting event of the Christmas period by some distance.

 

Tough to look past Phil Taylor after the form he has been in this season, and the fact he is doubly motivated having not won it either of the last 2 years. Don't think Kirk Shepherd will make the final again.

 

A good outsider bet might be Mark Dudbridge, who has made finals before and seems to have picked up a bit of form as well.

 

Any other tips? Anyone going to the Ally Pally for a session?

Will probably have it one a fair bit. Shame its not on at the Tavern anymore.

 

In theory Dudbridge should be out in the third to Part who I think will romp into the final again (beating Jenkins in the QF and Taylor in the Semi). The bottom half of the draw looks like a romp for Barny with maybe Lewis or Wade giving him a good game in the Semi.

 

Im probably totally wrong though....

The Mosconi Cup is very good, but it's in December, not over Christmas. Also, it isn't quite as good as the darts. Good that we won it again this year, though.

I have tickets for Tuesday lunchtime session, and we are sat at table right at front next to the stage. I will be on the telebox.

I got on TV 4 times at the Premier League darts in Bournemouth last year, including a slo-mo shot into the ad break. All down to a £3 Canadian flag in support of John Part.

I think that is the day of the Loose Women Christmas Special. I've got it on series record so I never miss an episode.

Ah, that explains why Scholten was such a decent price. I thought it was a mistake when I saw it yesterday! Anyway John Part also lost against the exceptionally well known Bill Davis ;)

Anyway you can easily win your tenner back tomorrow with Hills unless you are going to be at St Mary's at 4pm or more likely can't figure out which is the likely outcome of the following !

I'll be watching the real World Championship in the new year

 

It's a real shame there are 2 World Championships but are not Taylor and Van Barneveld the 2 best players in the world !? Would be hard to argue against it I suggest though of course the quality is still there in the BDO with the likes of Anderson and Webster. I no longer have Sky but I'll be watching the BDO Champs as well and looking forward to it a great deal. Have to admit there is something about the BDO version which the PDC Championship does not have though hard to describe exactly what it is though possibly that I'm really old and remember how much I enjoyed watching the likes of Bristow, Lowe, Wilson and Rees !!

I enjoyed watching those guys too, but they all joined the PDC in the end. And let's face it, anyone who's anyone plays in the PDC. The BDO tournament seems positively archaic by comparison.

 

With regard to who's gonna win it this year, I really can't see past a rejuvenated Phil Taylor, although I'd tip Andy Hamilton as my dark horse. Like the look of the Austrian lad, Sujlovic, too. Very unorthodx, but totally unflappable.

Up against Taylor now, should be interesting with Stompé winning their last meeting.

 

Yeh, should be a good game when they meet, although Stompe wasn't at his best today he didn't waste any of the opportunites Mardle presented him.
