sussexsaint Posted 5 May, 2014 Posted 5 May, 2014 Just got 2 tickets for me and my boy. Really quite excited about this. A massive part of my youth and nice to share it with another generation. Yes it was pricey but unlikely to happen again. Anyone else going ?
hypochondriac Posted 5 May, 2014 Posted 5 May, 2014 Yep. Got mine when they first went on sale and going with my dad. I imagine there will be a few different generations enjoying it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 May, 2014 Posted 5 May, 2014 (edited) My missus went to a TV recording of one of the first series. She was a couple of rows behind the red Indian but not quite in shot. Edited 5 May, 2014 by Whitey Grandad

Hamilton Saint Posted 8 May, 2014 Posted 8 May, 2014 I saw Monty Python do a live show at the St. Lawrence Centre in Toronto in June, 1973. One of the highlights was Eric Idle doing the Travel Agent Sketch.
sussexsaint Posted 8 May, 2014 Author Posted 8 May, 2014 Love that rant , so true of package holidays as a kid
pap Posted 8 May, 2014 Posted 8 May, 2014 Two funniest lines in Python history:- "You are f**king nicked, me old beauty!" "Found this spoon, sir!"
sussexsaint Posted 9 May, 2014 Author Posted 9 May, 2014 "Found this spoon, sir!" That is utterly wonderful, in fact that whole film is a work of barely equalled genius - so many wonderful lines and vignettes - the fact that it enraged the church was just an added bonus. 'he has a wife you know?'
pap Posted 9 May, 2014 Posted 9 May, 2014 That is utterly wonderful, in fact that whole film is a work of barely equalled genius - so many wonderful lines and vignettes - the fact that it enraged the church was just an added bonus. 'he has a wife you know?' It's still the funniest film I've ever seen. I've got so much admiration for the way they went about their films too; whatever the setting, just fill it full of British people with contemporary accents and views. On what other level would "leave that Welsh tart alone" even work? I also took Latin at school, which makes the whole Romanes Eunt Domus bit extremely funny. Well, funnier than the past pluperfect anyways
Minty Posted 9 May, 2014 Posted 9 May, 2014 If you can`t make it to the O2 :- http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Harbour_Lights/News/item/Monty_Python_Live_Mostly/ Have got tickets for this as couldn't afford to go to the real deal - surprise for the wife who is a big fan. Looking forward to it, although slightly apprehensive because there's no way it can ever be as good as the original series or films...
sussexsaint Posted 9 May, 2014 Author Posted 9 May, 2014 true but still a chance to say goodbye and thanks
miserableoldgit Posted 9 May, 2014 Posted 9 May, 2014 I saw Monty Python do a live show at the St. Lawrence Centre in Toronto in June, 1973. One of the highlights was Eric Idle doing the Travel Agent Sketch. I saw them at The Gaumont (now The Mayflower) in April 1973. Had front row tickets and can remember them brushing past my legs as they were leading Eric Idle away at the end of the travel agents rant! Great night. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Chap in the Chapel Posted 9 May, 2014 Posted 9 May, 2014 Going to the O2 on 18 July with the wife. Have been a fan for years and can't wait!

sussexsaint Posted 23 June, 2014 Author Posted 23 June, 2014 July 5th approaches the more I read about it and see clips of them rehearsing stuff the more I'm sure this is going to be epic. All told its going to be 3 hours ! Stephen Hawking as recorded bits for the galaxy song and they are auctioning off chances to be a 'Bruce' for charity. Watched Meaning of life with the boy on Saturday as part of his 'homework' , he was in stitches - forgotten quite how many fantastic bits were in there. It was great watching them with someone who hadn't seen it before - he nearly choked laughing at 'Oh God, ooo you are so big , gosh we're all really impressed down here I can tell you' Looks like a pain in the arse venue to get in and out of though

Jesus Christ, worth noting that it's also being shown for free on Gold that same night http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27830239
Saint Luke Posted 22 July, 2014 Posted 22 July, 2014 Was there on Sunday - excellent. Is there comedy like this out there anymore? My wife's step brother was in the classroom scene in The Meaning of Life! Did Izzard and Myers appear on any other nights or was it just Sunday?
