dubai_phil Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 "So I am told" http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/worldcup2014/article-2620110/Frank-Lampard-goes-World-Cup-does-Luke-Shaw-Roy-Hodgson-faces-culture-clash-Brazil.html What an uninformative article by Martin Johnson BUT he does say he has been "Informed" Luke is going (Or is it just a Daily Fail ploy? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2620080/Ross-Barkley-Luke-Shaw-Raheem-Sterling-Co-World-Cup-England-Its-time-Roy-Hodgson-unleash-young-Lions.html to give them something to moan about when the squad is announce) Oh and yes of course Shaw should go ahead of Cole. We ain't going to win the bloody WC so give him the experience ready for the Euros when our new band of nippers may have a chance
Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 I think I will be more disappointed with Lampard going than if Luke doesn't go. We need to stop playing the old guard.
david in sweden Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 I think I will be more disappointed with Lampard going than if Luke doesn't go. We need to stop playing the old guard. IF he goes, it'll be his last chance to wear an England shirt - that's for sure. On his day.... he was v.good .....but those days are long gone. david in sweden Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 If Hodgson is planning for the future.....he'll do well to take the likes of Shaw and one or two of the younger starlets. Even if they do no more than a 10 minute sub. it'll do wonders for their future career.
Saint_Tony Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 Lampard is a surprise, I would think that might mean Carrick will miss out after what Roy said about United players. It will be good to see Roy make some brave decisions though. I'm actually getting nervous about the squad announcement, hoping Rickie goes
Turkish Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 Why do people find it nessasary to criticise this article? It's fair enough and Hodgson makes a valid point that the players know what to expect and boredom is a poor excuse for poor performance. Some may recall boredom was one of the lines trotted out for our failure in a previous competition.
Bearsy Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 Some may recall boredom was one of the lines trotted out for our failure in a previous competition. I do remember that, I remember thinking it was bolllocks. If Shaw does go I reckon it might be Baines who stays home.
Convict Colony Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 Have to say when roy was going on about boredom the other day for players in brazil I did chuckle. Having been to brazil and specifically Rio/Cabo Frio and Buzios the boys are gonna have a great time, watch them out of the their hotel rooms until dark everyday relaxing on the beaches :-)

Baird of the land Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 Have to say I struggle to understand why Lampard is going. Is he simply being picked because he's viewed to be a good influence/tourist within the squad.

Convict Colony Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 They are hardly going to be out and about mingling with the general public I would make the effort, didn't they spend much of Germany 2006 shopping with wags which ****ed most people off.
