shirleysfc Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 I feel we marginally gain from having him, what we get in him stopping play and closing down others we lose in poor flat passing and attacking guile, I still prefer Cork in to him but a good squad player for me. Are you suggesting Cork has attacking guile?
Dellman Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 Cork is a calm and skilful player but I reckon his square and backward passes outnumber his forward passes by a big margin. We need goals from midfield, I can't stand that old hasbeen Lampard but he is Cheleas's recored scorer and we lack that wfrom midfield

If we're holding out for that we're gonna be disappointed.
Bearsy Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 Played 1569 minutes, conceded only 9 goals and never more than one in a game.
saintadjg Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 Cmon Bear let's not let facts cloud things. The Haters are gonna Hate no matter.
Bearsy Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 The other way to look at it is 1569 minutes, no hat-tricks
Chewy Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 Played 1569 minutes, conceded only 9 goals and never more than one in a game. Precisely this. Our inability to score many is far less of an issue if you're not shipping goals at the back, and wanyama does an excellent job protecting the centre backs. Saying we need more creativity here is missing the point of our tactics. He operates as an advanced third defender which allows our full backs more freedom to get forward. It's no coincidence that our results have been markedly better when he's played. Cork is an excellent player, but wanyama playing means more points.

When our midfielders take the penalties talk to me again.
davefizzy14 Posted 4 May, 2014 Posted 4 May, 2014 Always said he's a top top player. Agreed. Victor is our powerhouse and that's 3 clean sheets in three games since he's been back in the team.
