Take a bow son(s and daughters)!

After last week's triumph against Everton, where we confused them with the 'diagonal ball'...

I know they do a wonderful job (I remember when goalmouths were a mudbath before December) but why do they always have sprinklers playing before k.o. and at halftime even after months of rain? How many goals have come from splis in the watered areas?

I hope this doesn't make me look stupid but...

.. how do they do this?

Is it just to do with which direction the mower goes round or do they gut the grass to marginally different lengths or...???

The same way they make crop circles.

I remember in the 70's it was a mudbath from one goalmouth to the other, The Dell was pretty bad but Derby's Baseball Ground and Stamford Bridge were even worse.

The penalty last night, where the ball seemed to settle into a dent on the pitch, reminded me a bit of the Frannie Lee one at the baseball ground where the spot had disappeared all together in a sea of mud and the groundsman had to come out and re-measure and paint it.

I always preferred the 1976 kit one they did a few seasons back. Not a fan of the crop circles.

Our groundstaff have been brilliant since the days of the Dell. The climate helps but we've had flawless pitches almost as long as I can remember.

That's what I've been wondering as I've never seen so many players slip as I have this year, both in The Premier and Champions league

Look absolute class - fair play

Considering the volume of rain we have had this past winter and the fact that we do actually play on floor, clever designs aside I did think the pitch looked pretty impressive just before kick off on Saturday (well apart from the wonky roller line in the Chapel Itchen corner).

And congratulations on winning the award.

Probably already answered. But it's just the direction the mower goes round, so that the grass is pushed in opposite directions when cut. Looks good.
