I'm sorry but that's a load of ********. Clyne is definitely the better player at the moment.

How dare you. I reckon ur prob right that clyne is a bit better at the mo tbf, but I think that ultimately chambers will win the race to stardom. Or whatever

Clyne was brilliant against Everton and Hodgson was watching.

Hodgson? Is that the same Hodgson that said he won't be changing his squad plans on the basis of a couple of decent performances at the end of the season?

Yeah, the one that also loves playing mediocre centre backs as out-of-position full backs. That's him.

It wouldn't be on that basis alone. Walker's injury has forced a rethink and Clyne might well be next on the list.

Phil Jones taken to hospital with a shoulder injury he picked up vs. Hull tonight. If he is ruled out then we'd be relying on Chris Smalling as back-up right back to Johnson. Wonder whether Clyne will get a chance?

Would probably need an injury to Johnson for Clyne to be considered.

There's no reason why Clyne shouldn't be in the squad. With Walker's injury and now Phil Jones possibly out Clyne seems the natural choice to back-up Glen Johnson (who will no doubt be first choice RB). I don't rate Smalling at all, especially in the RB position. I can see the defence being a massive issue in Brazil for England.

It'll probably be Flanagan!

doesn't he play principally on the left side though? Not that it would be an obstacle to getting another Liverpool player into the England side I suppose.

On the subject of RBs, I read today ( came from a crappy paper I expect) that we're in the hunt for Trippier, now I'd think that RB was one position where we don't need any reinforcements just now.

What constitutes a surprise though? He's mentioned Clyne before by name as someone they've watched many times at club and England U21s and are well aware of what he can do.

Which is of course why he's not getting a sniff.

The squad is announced the day after the league ends. Roy will just read down the table, see if the champions have an English full back and choose him; if not, see what second place have; etcetera. That's how choosing an England squad works, right?

yeah prob bout right. Also if you can't get a big club right back then just pick one of their CBs. That's just as good.
