Special K Posted 6 May, 2014 Share Posted 6 May, 2014 Mods, as an experiment, can you change the text associated with "Registered User" to "Peasant"? I am trying to gauge the effects of mockery and shame in the market. Can't we just stick with "Plastic" thereby aligning peasant forum members with fans who don't go to games very often so they suffer the same shame and humiliation? And yes, I count myself amongst those ranks, before the bleeding obvious is pointed out. Seriously though, I've seen descriptions of posters on other forums that differ from the Full Member or Registered User tag, so I guess that is easy to do? Instead of Full Member or Registered User, why don't the Mods use a wee bit of humour and label posters according to consensus. Tags like Trollmeister, Big Girls Blouse, Forum Bore, Conspiracy Nutter, etc could be used to alert posters to potential M.O? Just putting it out there, like. I can think of a few who could be classed as a Country Member........ (only joking chaps).

I can think of a few who could be classed as a Country Member........ (only joking chaps). I've suggested alternate user classes before. Mack Rill is "fish fish fish", apparently. Ultimately, this creaking forum framework doesn't seem to have the chops to do that properly, and without some form of inherent labelling into the process, begging the obvious question - who gets to assign the labels. Archaic as it is, there's a level of effort and personal interpretation required to determine who is what on this site, something that's probably a good thing. My suggestion slices things much more neatly. Can you afford a fiver? No? Then take the "Peasant" tag and all that implies, such as living in a bin outside Starbucks leeching free wi-fi. It should be me , given as it was cancelled last week after I w3as admitted but it will be in no later than july. AS the NHS have to get BUPA in Stirlingto do it if it is not done by the 5/7/14 I can wait till then , as I have far more faith in the BUPA specialist Shoulder surgeon than the generalist orthopod who is scheduled to do it But then again it might be another poster thats having surgery in the next few months , its rumoured a certain unhappy poster is going to have ground breaking happy pills shunts inserted into their body

Turkish Posted 6 May, 2014 Share Posted 6 May, 2014 (edited) As someone who has quietly passed the 10K hump, it's something I wonder about myself. Ultimately, the insult is "hur hur, you're on a football forum loads so you must have no life". This message is somewhat diluted by the fact that the messenger is also on a football forum, presumably jipping off doing Something Less Boring Instead in favour of making that point. It'd be like me finding out one of our male posters pranced around the house in come-fúck-me boots and donning a pair of stilettos to take the píss. Like you say, I find it odd that someone who is posting and arguing on a football forum would have a go at someone else for how much they post on a football forum, whilst arguing with that person. it's clearly an attempt to belittle the person they are arguing and suggest that because they post less they obviously know far more about the subject in question and in any case have a far better life, because they are spending less time arguing on a forum, although they do seem to get much more hot under the collar when they do. It's also interesting to see that the 'bully boys' who were making all sorts of accusations at me yesterday have gone quiet since being invited to provide evidence of their claims. Making unsubstantiated accusations and then failing to back them up. Kind of troll like isn't it? Edited 6 May, 2014 by Turkish
Turkish Posted 6 May, 2014 Share Posted 6 May, 2014 Certainly Mr Turkish: Anyone who posts, on average, over 8 times a day needs to get a life HTH HTH - yeah that really annoys the hell out of me too. However, I have used it in this instance for ironic effect. HTH Why? 8 posts a day, an average for 2 minutes a post = 16 minutes a day. Can do that whilst on the sh*tter. Which I often do to be honest.

hypochondriac Posted 6 May, 2014 Share Posted 6 May, 2014 Homophobia doesn't make you a troll. It makes you a bigoted moron, but trolling isn't about opinion, it's about dominating and getting reactions, nothing more. Dune is a deeply unpleasant bigot, but that's not what makes him a troll, it's the persistent hijacking of every thread to make sure it's about him that does that. Fair comment. Wes Tender Posted 7 May, 2014 Share Posted 7 May, 2014 I support a tag for every wes post reading 'bigoted moron. ' I seem to have touched a nerve. Whilst we're enduring your self-righteous outrage about bigotry in a vain effort to ingratiate yourself nausiatingly with your heroes, let's hear your views on other forms of bigotry. Where do you stand for example on calling posters "mongs" and this a "mongboard"? Is it something you agree with? I don't recall reading any condemnation of that by you, so I would welcome your views. How about you suggesting that the original instigator of that expression be tagged in a similar way?
