After last night I guess we all knew all three were in (although I seem to remember one of the papers had Ruddy in their 'official' list instead of Forster), but I glad it's all official now. Well chuffed for all of them but especially Lambert as it'll be his last chance to go to a major tournament and fully deserved too. Absolute club legend.

When we bought Lambert for £1m 5 years ago... if you'd told me he would drag the team to the Premier League and play his way into a World Cup squad... :D

Similar story with Lallana!

And for Shaw to be the youngest ever defender England have called up to the World Cup...

Huge congratulations to all of them, very proud to be a Saint right now :D

And a shout out for JayRod as well. I don't think we would have had four, but he'd have been on standby at the least.

I think JRod would have been in before Sterling. Tough on Clyne not getting on the standby list, but great news for the three players in and for the club and the supporters. Proud to be following our boys over to Rio.

Brilliant, well done lads, credit to your skill and hard work and the team around them. Hodgson saying how good Saints have been this season. should have been all 6 with Jack and Nathaniel had Jay Rod been fit. Proud to be a Saints fan today, really is a great all round achievement.

Great for our club and those selected. Especially Lambo!

However looking at the team I am not happy Wilshere, Jones and Lampard have been picked. Wilshere has been crippled for most of the season...again. And even when he played he was **** most of the time. 19 games this year with his last on 12th of February.

The team should be picked on players playing well right now, not who they play for. We have done the Lampard and Gerrard thing for years and it has never worked. I would of taken Cork, Puncheon, Johnson or even Shelvey instead of him.

Brilliant for all three!

For Rickie because he's dragged himself from League One to the World Cup and we've shared that fantastic journey.

He's okay in League One but he'll never do it in the Championship...

It's brilliant for Adam who has been with us pre-admin, minus ten, and he suffered all the lows.

Burley, Dodd, Gorman, Poortlvliet, Wotte, Pearson, Pardew, Adkins and Pochettino ALL spotted the talent in Lallana before Liverpool noticed him, even Bournemouth recognised his talent, why are Liverpool so far behind?

An expensive error.

And it's brilliant for Luke who represents all that is good about our academy and the Southampton way of playing football.

What a great day. :)

Hi praise indeed for Saints from Hodgson, when was the last time an England Manager mentioned Saints. I think never. Just goes to show how high we have risen over the past few years.

Just trying to blag himself another Home and Away Season Ticket to watch us next season:toppa:

From the BBC's live update -

England manager Roy Hodgson on the selection dilemma between Southampton's Rickie Lambert and West Ham's Andy Carroll: "The fact he played for Southampton had no effect, but Lambert had been with us throughout qualifying campaign. It's great to see Andy Carroll back playing but it was a choice between two players and I didn't think there was room for both."

Not sure if I'me reading the comment right, but almost phrased as though playing for Southampton is a positive thing compared to playing for West Ham. Not sure I've heard an England manager say that before, let's hope that positive bias will help keep hold of team this summer. And of course, Roy's right!!

Well done and congratulations to all three. J-Rod would certainly have made the back up list as a minimum.

By the start of the WC we could only have 1 Southampton player in the squad :mcinnes:

Let's hope not. In all honesty, why sell before the WC? If the players are determined to leave then fair enough, we now having starting prices for their sale. At least we can try and sign replacements now but the price of Saints players can only go up with the WC exposure.

The buying club will also be pushing for the transfer to go through before the WC,so it really will be a case of who budges first,I don't believe we are in need to sell no matter what the press/media says.

These boys have progressed through the ranks and owe a lot to SFC so I would be surprised if they try and push a transfer through,so we really should resign ourselves to losing them if the bids are coming in.......however they leave at the price we decide to sell at and if they don't like that price don't buy them and they will stay with us,the future is bright at St Marys and anyone coming into this club will see we are going places and it is a fantastic place to play

I note only a brief comment on the Saints Official Site re the three lions

but then we have others that are off to the world cup as well

Maya, Gaston and Dejan are already called up, think that will be about it unless the rap that Cabaye got on his ankle on Saturday is worse than expected. Still 6 players, that will bring us a bit of a bonus, might even get something for AOC as well, can't remember how far back the formation bonuses go.

The Rickie Lambert story just gets better and better - he deserves everything he gets.

Just such an amazing story that will likely never be repeated again.

SSN asked him what he was doing this time seven years ago. He couldn't remember. Turns out he was playing in a L2 playoff semi-final for Bristol City against Lincoln.
