tisspahars Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 Given Hodgson's comments today that he will disregard the last games of the season, has had his squad in his head for a while, and basically will be going on what he saw between November and March, and given that everybody seems to know there is one spot available between Rickie and Carroll, then (see title)........
Batman Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 i thought carroll would come in and score the goals for west ham, given their style etc. now, it would be a travesty if Lambert is left behind for carroll
Gemmel Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 "I'm rather hoping we don't get any more examples like we had with Jay Rodriguez. He damaged his cruciate ligament in a game where I was actually watching from the stands. You hope that's not going to happen again. I ma reading too much into this to think he is suggesting that Jay Rod was going? Saint_Tony Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 I said Carroll could have a chance if came back and went on a scoring run. Think he only scored 2 since coming back, and has had minimal impact
DT Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 Would be v surprised if he takes Lambert. Has looked off the pace for a long time. Perhaps he's saving it for Brazil
red&white56 Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 Mind you every time whammers play the taters talk up Carroll as if he was Suarez...... If Roy can be persuaded by the press then Carroll could be going..............

J-Rod has been excellent this season but he was competing with some established international talent and would probably have been a certain (but late) cut. Still a tremendous accomplishment. Hodgson's saying it could happen to anyone, including shoo-ins. As for Lambert, he brings things to the table that Carroll couldn't bring in a million years - on and off the pitch; some of those things are "key imponderables" in the cauldron of a World Cup. I think he'll go.

One of the most prolific English goalscorers, plus he'll get you something from nothing. He'll even score on his arse. How many other English strikers are that committed?
Saint_Tony Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 I don't think he was ever going to take J Rod, his injury means Roy doesn't have to worry and can tell us he might have selected him. I think Rickie's performed better in the last few games, and what other options are there other than Carroll?
saintadjg Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 I think JROD was going too.Look at Royston face every time he saw him play well.
Saint_Ash Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 I like the fact Roy will name the 23 and the 7 standbys and not name 30 and cut it to 23 before they go crushing some players. I think rickie is the 23rd player on the plane, if not then he'll be first choice stand by, I really hope he goes though. Adam will be a starter.
team-saint Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 Would be v surprised if he takes Lambert. Has looked off the pace for a long time. Perhaps he's saving it for Brazil did you watch the game on saturday?
DT Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 No - it's my new tactic to make us win, not watching. Was he world-class?
The Cat Posted 29 April, 2014 Posted 29 April, 2014 No - it's my new tactic to make us win, not watching. Was he world-class? No, but he was England-class.
Tom28 Posted 30 April, 2014 Posted 30 April, 2014 Would be v surprised if he takes Lambert. Has looked off the pace for a long time. Perhaps he's saving it for Brazil Have you watched any of our matches since January?!
rooney Posted 30 April, 2014 Posted 30 April, 2014 Would be v surprised if he takes Lambert. Has looked off the pace for a long time. Perhaps he's saving it for Brazil This is a wind up surely?
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 30 April, 2014 Posted 30 April, 2014 Not another one leaving Saints - how much are Brazil offering for him?
davefizzy14 Posted 30 April, 2014 Posted 30 April, 2014 Rickie will definatley be in that final 23 man squad
mini_me Posted 30 April, 2014 Posted 30 April, 2014 Got told by someone ITK that JRod was on the plane and RL wasn't and now Woy is undecided on RL.
