Tablet advice

I am in need of a tablet type device

All i require is to play video.

 

I need to be able to play nearly/all formats and be let me plug mu USB hard drive into it to enable me to view my vast collection of films/tv box sets

 

an Ipad would be a huge waste of money for my needs

 

any ideas???

not needed today but soon enough

dont need any of the 'app' stuff (unless it is to download media players)

but being able to install VLC (or something like that) is obviously essential

I moved over to Nexus a while back. Love the range, largely because you get a "pure" installation with no vendor crap attached.

 

The lack of memory card was potentially an issue, but after VFTT's advice, was able to get an OTG cable which allows you to plug USB devices in.

 

Playing SNES games on a Nexus 5 with a PS3 controller is pretty sweet. It'll probably be the best Droid tablet power-wise when launched.
