What the hell is the matter with the Daily Mail ???

I think three of three will leave in the following order, MoPo (Spurs) pre world cup- then after world cup-Shaw (Man U)and then Lallana ( Liverpool).

After this Les Reed will say I am responsible for all of this and will swallow a long samurai sword.

I think Lallana will leave this summer. I'd imagine we'll get around 20M. As much as I'd love him to stay I think the time is right for him to move on, he's 25 as good as he's going to get & deserves to play for one of the big four. I'd imagine he has a release clause in his contract. I wouldn't begrudge him a move.

It makes no sense selling Shaw though. He has a lot of improving to do & his value will only rise. I don't think Shaw wants to leave at the moment.

You think we'd sell our captain, a full England international, for £5mill more then we paid for Osvaldo and Ramirez?

"What the hell is the matter with the Daily Mail", what the hells the matter with a lot of posters on here more like. Clubs are interested in our better players and our manager , players that have had a fantastic season and a manager that is young, plays attractive football and is clearly weighing up his options. It is not some sort of conspiracy, some sort of establishment plot to undermine and keep SFC down with the plebs. It is bigger and richer clubs wanting to improve themselves and bring in people they think can do the job. What do people think , that spurs aren't looking at mopo , that Liverpool aren't interested in Adam, or do they really think Adam is not interested in a move, that clubs are pestering him like some sort of stalker. FFS , if it was an article saying saints were looking at Danny Ings or the Cardiff keeper, would that be BS? Until these people, players and manager ,sign a new and improved contract, they are putting a big sign above their heads .A sign that reads " make me an offer and I'll consider it". They may go, they may not, but the way football works they could stop all this speculation by walking into Ralph's office and offering to sign a new deal. If they did that the stories would be ". X staying at Southampton". That's the way it works, Rooney to Chelsea went away when he signed a contact. Forget this " I'll sit down at end of season " its code for " I'm thinking of leaving". You can't blame clubs for wanting our players and you can't blame papers for reporting it.

We might not have a choice. I think £20m is a fair price. The fact is we paid too much for Osvaldo & Ramirez if we indeed paid £15m (in hindsight of course). I don't think the club will be actively looking to sell but if Lallana puts in a transfer request it will be hard to keep him. If a club of our size wishes it's players to commit to long contracts in order to guarantee receiving large transfer fees then it has to be seen to be fair when players reach a certain level & wish to leave. I will be gutted though if it happens but won't begrudge him his opportunity.

They've got nowhere with the Lallana and Shaw to Manyoo story, so they make this piece of sh*t up :

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2615365/Adam-Lallana-lift-Brendan-Rodgers-Saints-star-ready-snub-Man-United-Liverpool-move.html

15m is an utter insult.

practically NO-ONE has named the Les Reed announcement rejecting all these claims..so perhaps it's a plot to get people throwing away more money at Paddy Power and Ladbrokes????????

£25 Million and he will be gone.

would take that if the board then uses the money to get in a quality replacement.

isn't adz an Everton fan though? still think he would leave for a top club, regardless. he's done all he can here and has matured into a fine player ready to test himself at a higher level. shaw on the other hand is still young and has much to learn before he can fulfill his potential as a world class player. no better place to do it than here where there isn't as much pressure to perform week in week out in a title chase. he'll be with us for another season or two more.

The thing is for the money we are not going to buy as good, we wont spend all that on a replacement either.

Boys will be boys, girls will be girls............and player's and manager's AGENTS will be Agents, talking to the media, spreading rumors, all with their clients interests in mind. It's all part of the game that plays out year in and year out.

Decisions are pending, waiting to see what Pochettino decides or doesn't decide. Should he end up at Spurs you can be certain every Tom, **** or Harry at the club will be seen in the media on their way to join up with him.

How many players did Strachan sign up when he left, or how many followed Nigel to Reading?

Pochettino's decision is what will count, will influence events where players are concerned. Ambitions talk, perhaps louder than money. If the club, the board, show both to the manager, to the players, our future will proceed in the right direction. Should doubt, hesitation and lack of be the order of the day. we know what to expect.

Hi Bazza

I see that you have been active again today. Looks like 55 posts so far today. You must have a good job that lets you get away with this - or are you the stereotypical Scouser on the dole?

Have any of your posts been positive about Saints? I cannot find any. After a season when so much that has been good has happened to Saints I would have thought that perhaps a shred of light would have permeated through your soul. Why don't you wind it in a bit? Do something different. Get a life. Get a job. Perhaps you might find that if you changed your routine a little, spent more time away from this "mong" board, you might start to see things like most people do .... and not through s hite coloured spectacles which seem to be permanently on the end of your nose..

Or

Are you a Pompey fan on the wind up? You claim not but ... I don't believe you.

It isn't that various clubs will wish to sign our players or indeed our manager. Let them dream if they like and then report their longings to the media.

What is galling is the way that they report it. Liverpool have overtaken Man Utd in the bid to sign Lallana, Shaw prefers to go to Man Utd rather than Chelsea, Pochettino is a definite to go to Spurs, etc, etc. Why, we have even had headlines shouting that Shaw's leaving was virtually completed.

What none of these shrill articles mention, is that Saints have actually adopted a position that none of the players will leave unless Pochettino sanctions it and that there have been no approaches or offers from any club for any player.

The way that you would have it, is that players would have to sign a new contract every 6 months, or else they are on the way out. It wasn't long ago that Shaw signed a new contract and the speculation about him leaving came only a few months later. The club would have to make a Reed type statement every week, because the press have sure as hell ignored the last one we made a few days ago.

No, one can't blame other clubs for looking at our best players and our manager and the media reporting it, but one can certainly blame them for the way that they are reporting it, as if it is something imminent, when it is not. But they have got it wrong so many times over the years that anybody with half a brain would take anything they read in the Red Tops especially with a huge pinch of salt.

I love how everyone is missing the comment in the les reed video where the female journalist says that other clubs are briefing them on the bids for our players.

If that's the case it's hardly the papers fault for printing it (as much as I hate the mail) they simply wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't.

Not sure why some of you are so dense you can see through all this. Six months ago you lapped up every pro Saints story coming out of that paper, salivating over every word. Now the same source is running negative story after negative story, they were the ones who were most critical of Cortese being shown the door, they were the ones who are have done a huge about turn from us being a model club with a glorious future, to one where everyone wants to leave and is a shambles. Why do you think they are running these stories? What is the huge coincidence between what happened pre January and post January??

Its still annoying to read, whilst in the meantime I am finding it hard to come to terms with that Cortese hasnt simply moved on. He quit, after all...

Personally I think most of the press resent what Southampton have achieved, each journo has his team and no doubt it will be a choice of anyone from the top four or six, this kind of written garbage causes player unrest, currently they see Saints with a young and pretty much home grown side and no doubt they are all going green with envy; therefore why not write this with the hope that they just might be the catalyst that kicks it off, scum, all of them.

DM is dreadful but wouldn't denigrate it for its articles on Saints. How does this differ from any other paper? True and false rumours have filled the sports pages since time began. Can't believe so many don't get that and think there are agendas in play. Guardian had Lallana gone the other day.

On a roll today, the DM.

At least 4 separate stories regarding the dismantling of our team.

They really have a problem with us. Have we offended the "natural order" so badly ?

I wonder where the Cortese - worshipping Daily Mail are getting their info from?

They are a bit hacked off at not getting a summer trip to a delightful hotel by a lake in Austria this summer at the expense of (from recall the picture that was painted by the DM hack) the fat woman who was paying for it all and had the audacity to turn up looking like she shopped at Primark rather than Versace despite her inherited wealth............. And have an interest in her football team too: time for a Exorcist head spin.

Nowt much to do until June 13th when they start sharpening their pencils to stab Roy in the back for not taking a team with the average age of 35 to the World Cup
