All very positive and on message with what Adam, Les and Ralph have said in the past week! Might not be such a nervous Summer if we can get Poch tied down... Saint-Beer Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 The standard response: "I'm just focusing on the two games I've got left and then see what happens." Why do they keep saying, "see what happens or we will see what the summer holds", why not say I'm happy and not going anywhere?!

Ken Tone Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 And meanwhile the press are reporting that Man U has made an offer for a German left back instead http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/472687/Man-Utd-have-made-an-offer-Schalke-s-Sead-Kolasinac-braced-for-Old-Trafford-switch it seems to me that basically no one knows anything definite. Why do they keep saying, "see what happens or we will see what the summer holds", why not say I'm happy and not going anywhere?! I think there is a big game of poker going on behind the scenes at St Mary's - I think that Mopo and 3 or 4 top players are colluding together - I think MoPo and those players know that they are good enough to manage / play for a team that can win things - I think they all know that we are 3 / 4 players from putting in a good challenge. Therefore I think Mopo is stalling to put pressure on to increase the level of investment that will be available for new players and I also think that the players are doing same. what that min level of investnment is the big question - Personally I would say £30m plus the £10/15m we get from Osvaldo and or Gaston

Too obvious....this won't carry any weight with the miserableists and the conspiracy theorists. You need to rethink this and come up with something a lot more fanciful. It is logical and obvious to most that if Saints can buy the three or four good players we need, and also probably increase wages, then if the top players are happy as they are mainly young it wouldn't harm their prospects to stay a couple of years. Most have the time to play for a top English team and then go on to Europe; which is exactly what I would do if I was so fortunate to have the opportunity. Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 Probably because they though, '****, we got caught in the lie, lets quickly pretend we are looking elsewhare and deny all knowledge' Shaw is overpriced if even available so they're going for a less expensive but adequate option. Said it loads of times last week, no-one will give us 30 million for Shaw, not this summer anyway. There is better available (not talking about potential but actual state) for far less. Secret Site Agent Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 The standard response: "I'm just focusing on the two games I've got left and then see what happens." Why do they keep saying, "see what happens or we will see what the summer holds", why not say I'm happy and not going anywhere?! Probabloy because it is what they have been instructed to say, from their PR company. My 60 boys on site have all been told to say,'I know what you are saying, the Barrier will not be finished until 2020, if the piles were not there your hpouse would ahve ended up in the river, please call this man and he will explain it all.' it's all about control, control of the message, control of the media, and control of the fans perception. luke will only go when there is benefits to all parties, and not before. we are in a strong enough position to tell all the big boys to 'fargov' like Cortese used to do on a regular basis. And if luke wants to go, fine, he's on a contract and he can experience the 'jason puncheon experience', i.e. Not playing, training with the trainees, and not getting to show his wares on national TV. Although I think he is a bit more sensible than that.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 to me, the 'wait for the summer' where and if it refers to Saints and not England is that the players need to see what the overall objectives are for the football club. Build upon the special thing we have and no-one has a problem staying because they, and many believe this team plus a few more can achieve special things. If a decision is made to stay how we are and see how things go with the current playing squad minus a few players, then I wouldn't blame our best players to want to go elsewhere and compete at the highest level they can outside International level i.e UEFA competitions. the board probably are also very aware of the unique opportunity they have, and the commercial advantages that come with success on the pitch. I would imagine if they've got their heads screwed on, things will be ok and building will happen. It's much easier to get better national and global commercial deals when you are successful after all.
buctootim Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 It must xcross any owners mind to sell LS, AL, Osvaldo and Mayuka for £60m and buy Ings for £10m. The team would still be capable of mid table ish, you'd have bought the club for £50m nett and you could sell for c£150m. I don't think KL would do this but I'd be tempted... Minsk Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 I have said it before and I will say it again: I honestly think Shaw will still be a Saints player at the end of the summer window.
simo Posted 28 April, 2014 Share Posted 28 April, 2014 It's simple we'll keep Poch , Adam and Luke plow another £30m on new signings and then win the league like Liverpool might ! Of course this after we win the world cup I can hear it now ! "Excellent run from Shaw , who picks out Lallana who with a lovely bit of skill leaves xavi and inesta in his wake and then pick out lambert with a cross who buys the ball into the back of the Spanish net to surely win the world cup for England" (well that's how it all pans out in my dream anyway)

These answers are all similar and all started after Les Reeds statement.
