Ralph Krueger - post-match comments in hospitality suite

Not long ago, he said that the Expansion of St Mary's was second to the completion of the training facilities

Now the message is that he is quite happy with the Stadium as it is

IMHO, that means we WON'T be "enlarging" Sta Marys, and believe it or not, how far ANY Team progresses does depend on how large their stadium capacity is.

You are the true king of jumping to conclusions. Congratulations on another one.

The PA system has been practically inaudible since the stadium opened. Installed by sound engineers responsible for Jamaica Inn

I have a vague recollection of a SISA meeting when Andrew Cowan said it would cost 500k to upgrade it to a decent standard and they didn't want to spend that sort of cash on it.

Personally I'd prefer not to hear all the guff over the tannoy. A few tunes at half time would be fine. Still don't understand why the big screens are not used to give the information out. It's about time all the half times scores from all four divisions appeared too.

I don't. As I don't want to be a delusional mong

I don't think it is delusional to aim high. Best to aim high and fall short, than set low expectations, where you simply aim for mediocrity. The club should aim to win every game in every competition, however unlikely that is. Otherwise what is the point of the players even bothering to run on to the pitch.

It is no coincidence to me that the club has had its best finish in years against a backdrop of higher standards and higher expectations, supported by a more ambitious transfer policy. If the club had set low expectations and aimed at mid table obscurity, would players of the standard of Lovren and Wanyama join and would players like Lallana stay?

Completely agree about the other half time scores. Doesn't take much effort to stick them up there and with the mobile connection being erratic there's plenty of people who'd like to know them. As for half time music, ours is always so laughably poor I'd rather the tannoy wasn't improved.

I heard that we have planning permission to extend the Kingsland Stand but that its not going to happen 'until we get into Europe'.

There's not been a single planning application made in the last five years for the stadium and planning permissions don't last that long in the unlikely event that we had one prior to that. So no, that's complete b*llocks.

They don't teach the meaning of the word "want" down in Plymouth? Impressed you've reached this far in life without knowing the meaning of that word, it's said so often in the English language.

How and why did that escape the curriculum down there? :uhoh:

I was told that by a club official just two weeks ago.

This is A Trolling Attempt

All good reading. Glad his comments about progress up the table were firm without naming league positions. They're only sticks to be beaten with if they don't happen, or happen immediately.

Especially pleased he said he'd rather deliver actions than words. The words are useful for now though

Written with such authority and also complete crap, it happens to be my opinion.

There is always one on the company that manages to stay after heavy purges, Les Reed is one of these, what does he do? Les "Charlton" Reed is what exactly to the club?

Barry, you put a lot of time and effort into this site, well done, I find it amusing and appreciate your work.

With your latest idea, going after Les Reed, how about going down the whole blackmail angle, in that he simply knows too much to be 'purged', and KL, RK etc are well aware of this hence theyre running scared.

He outlines his role in the opening minute of this video...

As I'm sure you know.

Saints with Les Reed as director of football have been extremely successful. Yes, a few transfers haven't worked out but the vast majority have helped Saints achieve what the player was signed for.

I was talking to a person yesterday that is as close as it gets to the players. It seems that the players are very happy at the club, love playing for Pochettino but are not that impressed by Reed's statement or regard him highly. If Pochettino stays it is unlikely there will be departures. The significant comment was made regarding Pochettino, that it wasn't about money, but about his ability to strengthen the squad. There also appears to be criticism amongst the players about the poor value of some expensive imports. Reading between the lines, more Lovrens and no more Osvaldos.

Thanks for the info Derry.

I've always felt that MP has got too strong a hand for any delay to be purely down to how much he wants to get paid for himself (and his coaches as a collective i would assume lets not forget) and everyone should really know this by now. It really cannot be about his (and his coaches, physios and sports scientists etc.) pay packages because Saints would pay a large premium to renew and retain him and his team for the next 5 years+ knowing that this is exactly what the players and the fans want and which is best for continuity and growing this team momentum.

The delay, for me, is simply about two things :1. SAINTS TRANSFER BUDGET. The size of the budget is a good barometer of the scope for Mopo to grow himself and this team further. The bigger it is, the more likely he will stay. 2. MOPO ALTERNATIVE EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS. In a nutshell: What other clubs are there with attractive ambitious footballing projects with budgets to match wishing him to join as their new head coach. This would have a personal financial aspect but it is not the be all and end all for him because professional development is more important than money to him at his level. He is someone growing an excellent international reputation and will be paid accordingly in due course. One day he will probably want to manage Argentina national team for example and/or a Real Madrid or a Milan for example. Footballers are not the only ones with ambition - young coaches have it too so if there's an interesting project out there then that's a possible. I can think of a couple off the bat : Monaco and Milan.

With luck I hope he stays and so do the team. I hope we get to spend a "net" extra £35M without letting any of our star players go, if that's the budget, (ie its not £35m but we sold MS or LS to fund it) because for that we can get 4 or 5 good players to add to current squad and that could make a significant difference to the capability of the team next year. We all know the main positions that need strengthening.

How much does full membership cost? It might be worth it just so I can put this muppet on ignore.

Five quid, probably save you millions in anti-depressant drugs though.

Ok, done it, well worth a fiver.

Can I now respectively ask other posters not to quote Mr Sanchez.

(yes I know I quoted him myself earlier, sorry)

BS is the only poster on here who I have ever put on ignore. It's a waste of time though, as you still see his posts when everyone else quotes him - which is what he strives for. If every fooker just ignored him eventually he would get bored and do one..........

Keeping all our players and spending another £35mill on new signings seems by far the least likely scenario of all those available.

Hoping for that is going to lead to disappointment, I'd say.

I assumed that the 35 million includes whatever we might get for the players we obviously don't want to keep. If we could get

15-18 million for them then I think an extra 17 million or so from this years PL revenue might be considered perfectly reasonable. Hard to estimate this years revenue precisely but it must be approaching 90 million or so all told (PL+Matchday+Commercial)

I think you are confusing 'wanting' with 'expecting to happen', which kind of makes you what didn't want to be.

I absolutely WANT us to win the league, and the FA Cup, and the Champions League, etc. I don't 'expect' us to win any of them though. No, not even the FA Cup, although it would be nice.

Having said that, look at Liverpool this season? Who would have predicted them to be top with 2 matches to go? How far from them are we? Arguably, if we swapped Gaston and Osvaldo for Saurez and Sturridge (and with a bit more luck with injuries - i.e. Boruc, Lovren, Wanyama and JRod being fit ALL season) that could be us.....

Justly, we really aren't that far off, it would be a pity to let it all go to waste. We've had a few really bad results that have harmed our progress this season, most of them due to injuries but a couple due to plain inefficiency in front of goal (like Cardiff and West Ham at home,)

The way I see it, Mopo wants to see the new executive get on board the vision that Cortese sold to him. Understandably, considering the utter disasters that Ramirez and Osvaldo have turned out to be, KL and the board are a bit "reluctant".

Theres a battle of wills underway, imo. If the board really want to keep the club meeting forwards, Mopo to stay, the players to stay because Mopo is staying, they have to come up with a number to satisfy him for transfers. I reckon a compromise can be found, Mopo will get the ballpark number he wants, but he will probably need to accept Gashy is going (Osvaldo is as good as gone anyway).

I don't think there is any 'battle of wills' at all. It's just that many, on here, want everything done NOW!!

Both Reed and Pochetino have said they are happy to wait until the season has finished before working on his new contract. After all, it's not as if his contract runs out in July; it still has a year to run.

Reed has also stated: any player MP wants to keep will be kept; no player will be sold without MP's approval; no player will be brought in without MP's approval; and, that MP has already identified the players he would like to bring in.

However, there are those who like to ignore all of the above and stomp their feet because it hasn't all been sorted already.

This ^. I think MP doesn't want to go down the road he went down at Espanyol so wants to know he can strengthen. The board want to know the league position (and so the final numbers) to know how much to give him

Think I can give you the final numbers after Newcastle lose tonight - 8th position and all the associated riches with that position :-)
