Attendance

While Arsenal "sell out" every week, the place is always peppered with empty seats because the season tickets are held by legions of bankers and corporate lawyers who are so often overseas on business or yachting in the Bahamas that they cannot actually attend.

Maybe Saints have 5-600 yuppies too?

Entirely possible. We should compare Saints attendances with yachts docked.

We haven't had an attendance thread for a while.....

31,313 today at St. Mary's, which means our average attendance to date is 30,147. With a sell out against Man United a given, we'll likely average just under 30,250 for the season, about 500-600 down on last season. I still consider that a good figure, but given we've had our highest finish in 10 years and earned an almighty amount of admirers for our style of play, one has to ask where the numbers went.

Prices aren't coming down next season, I think we can guarantee that (as season ticket prices have risen). So what more can the club do to attract more fans? Season 2003-04 in the PL saw an average of 31,717, a whole 1,500 up on this season. Any chances we can hit those heights next season?? The corporate areas are certainly a good place to start.

500 to 600 reduction in average capacity from last season is only 1.5 to 2%, which could be explained by dates/timing of matches, opposition away support, corporate attendence etc.., it would be interesting to see what the actual Saints paying supporter attendance is when away supporters, corporate, employee, player friends/family tickets etc.. are stripped away from the figures.

I personally think that the stadium is about the right size for our club and i would rather have it on average 95% full than filling a larger stadium for a few matches and being 75% full for the 'lesser' games. When we are filling the stadium rather than getting 8 - 10,000 for a League Cup match in September at £15 a ticket I may think that the pent up demand is there and stadium expansion is warranted.

Having another child half way through September means i wont be, however il go to every home and away game until there born, hoping it will be 5-6, then maybe some crap games in the new year, big games do not always appeal to me, i am watching Saints not the other team, and to be honest most teams in this league are better then the games i went to in L1, Yeovil Luton Exeter etc.
