Lallana's post match comments

For me it works like this over the summer.

No MoPo, Shaw and/or Lallana and our owners will have demonstrated lack of ambition and failure to build upon a team with potential-real potential - for the future.

If that is the case then it will be time for us all to campaign hard for new ownership and new finance.

For me Adams statement is a warning to our owners. We all know he is happy, he is our team - life and soul. Without his leadership, passion, enthusiasm and selflessness we are championship bound IMHO. With him, with investment, with our players and with our manager and a goalkeeper/striker we are on the verge of champions league.

We must keep all our players. We must keep our manager. We must keep our ambition. We must keep our captain. But there will also be a more wealthy owner if we want to continue to advance, we must find one, or our owners must continue with the investment.

what the hell is that? What's with all the "we musts"? Is that meant to be a memorable, rousing speech? And more importantly, its actually very disrespectful to all the other players at Southampton to suggest that if Adam leaves we will get relegated.

We must stop making dramatic posts. We must stop talking out of our arses. We must not think we are Winston Churchill or someone.

I hope he will stay...but c'est la vie...

Players come. Players go. I'm sad to see some go (historically, Bale, Channon, Williams, even Keegan for example - even though he was only with us for a short while), but it's never changed the support I give to the club and the team. I even check out how they are doing at their new clubs and get a buzz when they make good headlines (loving watching Bale At Real Madrid at the moment). Others (Kenwyne Jones being a prime example) I am happy to see the back of. They are professionals with a finite career so I'm not going to begrudge them the chance to enhance their career or to set themselves up financially for life - as long as they do so in a respectful manner.

Of course, if our better players go, then it's going to make it harder for us to progress or push further up the league, but hopefully, it gives a chance for someone else from the academy to make the step up.

I'm still grateful we've got a club to support after we went in to administration. It still feels like it's OUR club and not one that's been bought as a play toy by the ultra rich and been left with no real identity. :)

I heard from someone employed by the club in quite a senior position on Friday that all the rumours and paper talk that Lallana and Shaw having already agreed deals elsewhere is a load of rubbish.

The guys name was Les someone....

We were told on Friday by the most senior football figure at the club, categorically, there have been absolutely NO contact from other clubs regarding transfers and that NO one will be sold if we want them to stay.

Yet people STILL insist on speculating because they’ve got a mates taxi driving dad who took a guy who claims to be an agent to the local co-op & told them that Lallana & Shaw are off.

If you want the media to stop speculating about their future, then we also need to stop claiming we know they’re off & spreading idle bull**** gossip

Agree with this.

Players will come and players will go, the higher in the Premier that we are and success that we have the more likely we are to retain the best players and attract improvements to what we have. However I cannot begrudge one of our star players in their mid twenties, who we have had several good seasons from, leaving for a good fee to a 'superior' team in the Champions league and better salary etc., I do though expect some loyality/service from the younger academy players for several seasons now that we are in a healthy premier league position. (Walcott, Bale, Oxlade leaving quickly was a different matter considering we were in the lower leagues at the time).

I also think that the team spirit that we have counts alot for helping retain players. In alot of other careers people are less likely to leave a job where they enjoy being with colleagues who have become friends, get on well with the manager, feel like a valued member of the team and there is a good atmosphere/facilities, even if there is a better paid job at another company being offered. However if the manager leaves and the colleagues start feeling uncertainty then other options may start to be considered!!

This for me. We are Southampton..................like it or not our better players have, do and always will move on to better clubs. We have a relatively small ground that we can't fill every week and a small catchment area for support. That's life sadly but nothing will change and as long as there is a club it will my support.

He's obviously leaving. Can't begrudge him a move though, he deserves to play at the highest level and sadly that won't be with us

I'm pretty sure you said a while back that you were changing your name to Tiger_Tony as you had switched teams to Hull. ;)

I have no contacts at all, but I really do think that Pochettino will sign a new contract and both Lallana and Shaw will be at Saints next season.

Fair enough, if that's your opinion I have no problems with that. I'm just basing it on what generally happens in football when a mid table team has a player who is capable of playing for a better team and that clubs at the top of the table would like to buy. It's a pretty simple concept, but because so many of us don't want it to happen, we choose to ignore what is a likely scenario.

I will be stunned if none one of note leaves the club by end of August.

Despite these club pronouncements, in my cold, dark heart I still can't believe we're the sort of club to turn down £30m bids for teenage left backs.

Exactly, no club can guarantee this, hence Reed saying we will 'probably' turn down any bids. We need to be realistic and accept its more than likely that Lallana and Shaw will leave. I can see Morgan staying though
