Lallana's post match comments

Are we concerned about Ad's comments? Must admit to say he was happy and not going anywhere would have been nice to hear.

From BT Sport:

However, England international Lallana -- who has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham -- refused to offer any guarantees that he will stay when questioned over his future after Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Everton.

“I am concentrating on the last two games and then I will sit down in the summer and see what happens,” he said. “I just want to enjoy my football. That’s when I am at my happiest.

“We have top players, a top manager and a top team. If we can add to that in the transfer market and keep progressing I am sure we can compete [for European football].”

Meanwhile, Pochettino avoided questions over Lallana’s future following the match, insisting he would only talk about the match.

“There were many positives aspects from the win,” he added. “In the overall analysis, we just followed our style. We played in the way we know how to play. It worked for us to play a team that is fighting to get into the Champions League as well.

“I want to thank the players, the medical staff and overall the entire club because we matched our record in the history of the Premier League with this result.”

All sounds very positive to me. I wonder which sentence the media will choose to highlight though....

I think it´s more a stand from everyone at the club not to answer all silly (or not silly) rumours and get on with football.

Anyone who has seen the pregame pressers last month or two will understand if everyone at the club is fed up with it at the moment and has decided to just not answer journos questions about it.

Jack Cork's post match comment on the transfer speculation: "All the lads speak to each other a lot and we all know that everyone wants to stay here and play here and it would be a shame to ruin what we've got going"

Beautiful. That's looking out for your team mates and your club above number one.

Why are they asking those questions after what reed said yesterday, they are just trying to get stories going.

That may also be the reluctance on saying anything as reed covered it yesterday

As soon as a player answers a hypothetical question about the future, further questions will be put and answers will be analysed to try to construct a story. The press deal in innuendo and fabrication to sell newspapers. Truth matters to them not one little bit, just what can they get away with. The best way to deal with this and not to get drawn in, is to refuse to answer the questions, which looks like the instruction the club has given the players.

Why don't you then? Most bookies will give you odds if you go in and ask.

They offer odds to specific clubs, he could go to any number of teams. If he played for someone like Newcastle for example, everyone on here would be in agreement that he was too good for them and will move to a bigger club.

If it happens, it's because the club isn't matching his ambition. I don't think it'll happen because he wants it to regardless. It's quite clear that the players and management team have been alluding to pushing on and building what we've got. It's obviously what the fans want too. For the Board they need to balance the books. The players and Pochettino are challenging the Board. It may be a bit unfair of them to do so publicly but right now the ball is in the Board's court. Up to them which way we go unless the financial situation dictates we have to sell a couple but based on last years financial results and this years TV revenue then I think we're in pretty good shape.

If we shifted Osvaldo then there is immediately money for another player who can hopefully make an immediate impact. January's squad purging will also contribute towards freeing up wages as well. Maybe Ramirez leaves too?

No club has been given permission to talk to any of our players and that will remain so.

Any enquiries we get will probably be met with a ‘no, not for sale.’

They are all contracted, they all have existing contracts and we intend to honour those contracts.

On the back of those firm and emphatic statements, I think you'd get great odds on an open bet too.

I am not concerned :)

I know your connections Westie, so this pleases me no end. ;-) I must admit, I am worried we will see some exodus, simply because of the stupid sums involved, yet as you know, I have always wished footballers had a desire to win things with their mates, rather than take shortcuts... Keep this lot together and we have a lot to look forward to.... After all, if someone is earning 40k a week, leaving for 80k a week and a short cut to medals is in my opinion greedy... But that seems to be the way of the footballer these days. Hope all is well with you and yours.

As it is not clear what the clubs plans are going forward he would be silly to say anything at all.

I think he made clear what he and all the players want they want to stay and grow together they recognise they have something special.

The key is will the owners and management feel the same and back them? We will know soon in the summer. The biggest test and catalyst for the future direction and the players will be how keen we are to hang on to Mo PO

Heard from an Ex-Saints player yesterday who said both Lallana and Shaw are off in the Summer…although this conflicts with another of my sources who said Lallana was staying but Shaw may be off somewhere but not to United.

So I don't know who to believe at the moment...

Why would "an ex-Saints player" know anymore than anyone else ? Particularly as a couple of them are axe-grinders anyway.

Nope...Back then the Club had a vision, drive, direction and a plan that the Coach and players believed and bought into....Now we have........best i can see is waffle and fan pandering...I don't believe there's much left of the above at the Club anymore and seems to be reflected in a some of the uncertainty now surrounding the players and Coach.

One thing's for sure....This wouldn't be happening if Cortese was still here and Ralph and whats his name need to get a grip and start showing some leadership instead of just talking about it, before it's too late.

Yeah, whatever. Love how some posters get so wound up by posts that aren't based on false hopes. Lallana will leave, I don't want it to happen but would rather accept it now than wait for forum meltdown when it inevitably happens
