SAINTRichmond PROVES once again what a SENSIBLE and BalanCED forum contributor HE is.

And you CB, (sorry cb ) demonstrate yet again that whilst al you can do is slag someone off, whilst not offering any sensible contra suggestions yourself/

What I say is what I think. It may prove to be wrong, but ir might, just might, prove to be correct

What will you say if what I say comes to fruition cb ??

Good. Why spunk a ton of money when it's not needed. Yet.

Why say that ?? We might Qualify for Europe next season. You have to plan ahead, submit plans, get approval etc etc. It all takes time (4 to 5 years if all went well )

Yes, Cortese has gone, but at least he DID have plans to take us further, and was ready to get them implemated. It is painfully obvious to me that Katharina/Krueger's plans are NOT so ambitious

Contaction rather than Expansion

Painfully obvious? you know nothing just like the rest of us. We may very well have a firesale this summer and have to readjust expectations, but don't pretend it's blindingly obvious as of now because it simply isn't.

How is it painfully obvious?

And how would Cortese have paid for his ambitions?

Possibly because our best season in 10 years has seen our average attendance drop by 500-600.

Probably a better idea to actually start filling all areas of the ground on a more consistent basis before we start the clamour for more seats. An 8th placed finish in the PL has brought in less ticket sales than a 14th placed one, so there's absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that European football is going to bring in more fans. If anything it could be the opposite.

I'd rather take the new regime with less ambition than the previous psychopath with his.

Risdale had similar plans to take Leeds further.

Less Ambition ? Psychopath ? You really are a snidey git aren't you. As I have said on many occasions I dont think you want a really succesful club. You'd rather Saints were a parochial 1st Div. club so imbeciles like yourself , Illingsworth , Macmillan and so on could wheedle yourself some sort of influence. You lot were never as happy as when Saints were in turmoil and you could organise your marches and meetings. You'd love it if things went tits up and you could organise some sort of "Trust".

Sorry, cant agree on this occasion.

My only criticism of Cortese was his transfer activity was a bit hit-or-miss.......

Wanyama, Lovren, Davis, Clyne all look quality buys, a couple of the others (no names needed) look like absolute disasters.

OK, but Why have attendances dropped, even though we are having a great time on the pitch ?

I would venture to suggest the main reason is MONEy. A lot of people, myself included, are not in a position to throw money away. I have to be careful what I do with mine

But that is where having a Bigger Capacity Stadium would reap long term rewards

If 30000 fans are charged £30 to see a match, the Revenue would be £900,000

In a 40,000 capacity stadium, you would only have to charge £22.50p to get £900,000

It would not work out exactly that in reality, but you should see the point. £22.50 is more attractive ( ie Affordable ) tha £30 is it not

The longer the Club delays in expanding St Marys, the Higher the ST prices will rise, and the Less affordable they will be to the likes of myself IMHO

But this is very simplistic.

What business case, where you want to spend capital investment offers no return on investment apart from the intangible aspect of "more people"?

It'll be built more like;

Capex request: £25m (to build 10,000 seats on the Kingsland stand)

Anticipated sell outs x4 (vs Man Utd, first game, last game, league leaders); 10,000 x £30 ticket (average price) = £1.2m

Assume 1000 extra tickets at x5 matches = £150k

£1.2m used to increase base salaries of players to a) retain existing and b) attract better in lacking areas/squad depth

£150k to pay loan interest of £25m

Better player investment/retaining key players means a push for Europe (top 5)

European competition generates £60m incremental revenue

£60m incremental revenue to pay capex request and invest etc etc etc.

We no longer live in a nice friendly world where extra room means the prices will drop. You want capital investment, you pay for it and recoup a reward over, what, 3 or 4 years in this case (my version in too simple, but you get what I mean).

Duncan, if it wasnt for self interest i suspect you would rather real ambition for our club.

We really have not seen how good the new man is in selecting a new manager if MP leaves. NC did it 3 times and got right for each situation. Get it wrong and we could plummet
