"As you know I am member of the board and director of the club and my responsibility is football.

Currently I am responsible for transfers, I’m responsible for contract negotiations and all of those board level football matters that the club is involved in.

I work very very closely with Mauricio, we speak every day and sometimes for several hours in the day and so we are very close and talk a lot about all the matters that go on here.

I think that there is a lot of misinformation out there at the moment that needs clearing up.

The first point I’d like to make is that with regard to Mauricio Pochettino’s contract negotiations that’s my role and we are very happy with the way we are approaching it at the moment.

Let’s clear that up because he’s asked the same question every week.

We talk every day and we are talking about the future - planning, pre-season, planning the transfer strategy. No player will be brought into or leave this club without Mauricio and I discussing it and his agreement. We talk about that on daily basis and we are planning for the future and the long term future.

We would like to focus on the remaining games of the season and Mauricio has repeatedly said that and therefore we will pick up the details of any contract talks in the summer when the season is over.

I would like to reemphasise that we are happy with that - both myself and Mauricio are happy with that – so we can focus on the details of pre-season, transfer market planning and so on. We are both comfortable with the situation.

The second point I’d like to clear up is speculation in the press about our players. That is my responsibility.

As we stand there have been no enquiries, we have had no bids and we have had no offers for any of our players. That’s accurate, that is the truth and that’s exactly where we are.

Reports that we are about to close deals on certain players are totally misinformed, misleading and are not true. No club has been given permission to talk to any of our players so reports that some of our players are in the process of negotiating stellar transfer fees or contracts are absolutely misinformed and inaccurate.

No club has been given permission to talk to any of our players and that will remain so.

As far as the policy in concerned we have had a great season, we want to build on that season, we want to improve the squad going forward, we want to retain the players we’ve got. They are all contracted, they all have existing contracts and we intend to honour those contracts.

Any enquiries we get will probably be met with a ‘no, not for sale.’ Our intention is to keep this very good team together and build on it by bringing in players to improve upon it.

Every transfer window, particularly the summer, is a difficult one because everybody is out there trying to attract players.

We have our targets, we want to improve the squad, these are things we are discussing on a daily basis and we intend to produce a squad that is capable of not just maintaining the position we are in at the moment but improving next season.

It’s a positive message we want to get out there.

Our fans deserve to understand there is not going to be a fire sale here and we have repeatedly said that.

We have had no offers for players, deals are not about to be concluded for any of our players, and we want to keep all of our best players here at the club and build on that for the future.

That is all I want to say and I don’t want to take any questions on it, I want to deliver the accurate picture of where we stand at the moment because of the speculation that is going on."

The full statement is even more reassuring then the snippets on club twitter feed.

I still think Shaw will end up moving on but if we can keep the rest and add to squad I would be happy with that.

Agree, and if we get top dollar and can reinvest well and keep the rest of the players then we could improve next season.

Only caveat to what Reed says is that the selling club usually the last to know when their player is sold.

Great statement. You'll always get speculation over our best players, but some of the stuff from the last few days is really getting carried away.

It was pretty straight to the point wasnt it and exactly what SFC fans wanted to hear

I suspect the mail etc won't be giving this many inches as they are certain the deals are done

Going to be the most irritating summer in many sense. When was the last time we had so many players potentially wanted by bigger clubs

THe Daily Mail has had a strange relationship with the club over the last few years!

Yes, potentially a frustrating summer, once we hit June though everything in the media will be taken over by the world cup, so there should be a month of respite from all this.

You are right, the mail seem a bit odd for us. Martin Samuel also

Reed also made the point in saying that any player in or our HAS to be agrees by MP

I was hoping for a statement from the club to quell the recent hysteria in the press and thankfully this has come from the man responsible himself.

I think that's worth highlighting... the fact that Les Reed himself came out and made the statement was a good bit of PR IMO.

Very positive words - reminds me of my fav song

It's only words

And words are all I have

To take your heart away

And that reminds me of one of my favourite songs

On we go to where who knows

To a place where there's still non-believers

What will it take for heaven sakes

For those who find what's real too hard to believe in

It's that same old story again

This is a pretty unequivocal statement. Glad I took the time to read the full version.

This is very reassuring; I tried to pick holes in it due to my tendency to be a bit paranoid, but couldnt.

My only comments are that I really hope he is fully in the loop, and a slight concern that this statement didnt come from Krueger. He may not be involved in the footballing side, but this has a commercial dimension too. Perhaps a co-penned statement would have been better.

The way I see it, Football is Reed's bag

Kruger (like Cortese) does not need to get involved publically

That's Glasgow put out on Gardening leave then!

No mate.

This is a classic 'false flag' operation.

KL is simply saying to other clubs bidding on our players 'put up or shut up'.

Stating our players are not for sale increases their value.

RK wants to sell more season tickets and hospitality, so he needed Reed to make a pro spin PR statement.

The bookies are rarely wrong.

All talk and no action, actions speak louder than words.

No smoke without fire, this is a smokescreen.

Read between the lines, the ommissions, what wasnt said.

The use of the word 'probably'.

etc

Thanks for posting that.

Really interesting at the end when a couple of journalists try and ask a question or two, the female journo seems to confirm these rumours have been started by officials at Man Utd.

Brilliant , nothing like an alternative view point on a factual statement from the source himself, keeps this forum alive !

Really didn't like the change in tone and tombre in his voice when he said this. Particularly around the word 'truth'. Given the chance I would be asking some very pointed questions around this.

Communication is 55% non-verbal, 38% tone and only 7% words. Our bodies have an annoying habit of letting out more info than we want.

**** me I sound like a SWF conspiracy troll-machine.....!
