Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Take the honours sir. Good tun and cross from Shaw but Lambert unable to put it away. Good run and cross from Clyne prior to that as well. Decent start.
igsey Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 You! How much space do they want to give Shaw?! Great ball for Lambert.
nta786 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert. Unlucky mate, twodecent chances hes had now.
Rasiak-9- Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert again the weak link. Hopefully he can prove me wrong. At least he's getting chances and does look like there'll be more to come.
nta786 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Two things. I've noticed GS hasn't started the math threads, build up and reaction threads recently. Maybe because our season is over. I've also realised how weak our bench is today. Cork, Gallagher and Chambers will be our 3 subs today I reckon (possibly Guly :/ )
OttawaSaint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lol 20 passes, then they rip us open with one punt up field...
trousers Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 This game has a familiar feel about it.... Saints dominating possession followed by you know what....
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Who wanted to drop Fonte for this? Massive tackle. How do you know???
Micky Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 87% possession in the first 10 minutes! Exactly what happened last time we played Villa at SMS - they only touched the ball 3 times but still walked off with all the points....
InvictaSaint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 This game has a familiar feel about it.... Saints dominating possession followed by you know what.... Surely it has 0-0 written all over it....? ;-)
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 This game has a familiar feel about it.... Saints dominating possession followed by you know what.... The difference between this and last week though is that we have at least put 2 or 3 decent balls into their box so far.
saintsmike25 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Already the problem is obvious with Ward Prowse, Morgan and Wanyama in the centre none of them is pushing further up to support Lambert and Lallana, both Morgan and Prowse should be pushing further up.
dubai_phil Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Grrrrrrrr streams are bloody useless today. Guess someone must have nicked the tin can at the end of the cable screwing our innernet. So back to merry davington & big Adam

With Davis already pushing up in support that would leave only Wanyama playing in the DM role.
Wrensup Posted 19 April, 2014 Author Posted 19 April, 2014 Take the honours sir. Good tun and cross from Shaw but Lambert unable to put it away. Good run and cross from Clyne prior to that as well. Decent start. I feel privileged, where is everyone today?
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 El Ahmadi could easily have been booked for that. Late and cynical on JWP.
Grey Crab Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 I feel privileged, where is everyone today? Playing well and still 0-0. I'm sure Glasgow and alpine will turn up if we concede.
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 I feel privileged, where is everyone today? I'm sure they will all come out of the woodwork if we fall behind.
Dalek2003 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Looking good now, surely a matter of time? For what, a Saints or Villa goal ?
igsey Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 For what, a Saints or Villa goal ? Depends on your way of thinking. If this were most teams, then Saints - we're well on top. So probably a Villa goal.
John Boy Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 I'm sure they will all come out of the woodwork if we fall behind. I'm here sitting quietly in the corner. Soccer Saturday reckon Villa are playing for a point! Also in other news apparently Chris Foy has had to be replaced after taking the ball full tilt in the chops from Shelvey in the Barcodes v Swans game, Merse and Pinocchio were almost wetting themselves so probably worth a watch later.
John Boy Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Blimey Skates v The Gas seems good value for those who paid their pennies to get in. 2-2 Rovers fighting for their lives
saintsmike25 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert has been awful, think we need to bring big Sam on in the second half or take Wanyama off.
Saint Charlie Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Wanyama has been good. No threat in behind but subs won't change that, we just have to keep going...
northam soul Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert has been awful, think we need to bring big Sam on in the second half or take Wanyama off. Wanyama has been excellent. Ward Prowse is the one who still offers little. We just don't have anything on the bench going forward.
Rich102 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Missing J-Rod so badly. JWP Davis Wanyama and Schneiderlin is overkill surely? And yet there's no obvious option on the bench either. Le sigh.
shurlock Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert has been awful, think we need to bring big Sam on in the second half or take Wanyama off. Eh? Wanyama has been very good. If we're going to take any midfielder off, it's JWP.
shurlock Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Wanyama has been excellent. Ward Prowse is the one who still offers little. We just don't have anything on the bench going forward. Just seen this - totally agree.
saintsmike25 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 To be honest Morgan, Wanyama and Ward-Prowse have all done okay today. But in terms of balance we've dominated possession but apart from a lucky deflection falling to Steven Davis, I haven't seen us really threaten at all. Lambert has been left so isolated and while Lallana is busting a gut to join him, the others seem content to be "water carriers", but that won't do, we're already dominating they need to take up advanced positions and actually make space in the final third. This has a 1-0 either all over it, and while we're playing well I'd like us to take more risks against this Villa side that look short of confidence.
Sheaf Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Eh? Wanyama has been very good. If we're going to take any midfielder off, it's JWP. I'd be tempted to swap him for Chambers and push Clyne up into a more direct RW role to try and get in behind them. Would definitely give us a better attacking option I reckon.
Dalek2003 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Missing J-Rod so badly. JWP Davis Wanyama and Schneiderlin is overkill surely? And yet there's no obvious option on the bench either. Le sigh. This
pangy Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert has been stranded alone up top, nobody has been supporting him and the final balls have been rubbish With no J-Rod in the team we look hopeless up front,I would take off JWP and bring on Sam and drop Rickie back
austsaint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Lambert has been awful, think we need to bring big Sam on in the second half or take Wanyama off. VW looks good today. Still can't see what JWP brings to the side; I'd replace him with Chambers or Reed.
Convict Colony Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Wanyama has been good. No threat in behind but subs won't change that, we just have to keep going... This just been watching him and morgan and big vic has been a beast, the first 5mins was like he morphed into beckham pinging balls around, most amusing. We are dreadfully slow up front, not seen much of JWP really aside from the 1 bale, clyne same, very ragged at the end. Reed for JWP ?
