pap Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 Depending on how many of these you tick off, you might be having a mid-life crisis. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/you-having-midlife-crisis-check-2020597#.U0582xHBW-k.facebook I didn't even bother counting. I know I am Are you mid-life mental?
Bucks Saint Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 Only about 6. Not sure if I should celebrate or be very worried.
Big Bad Bob Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 The only one on that list that really applied to me was 28!
Hatch Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 15 or so. Been having a mid life crisis for about 5 years, think I am nearing the end though !
SNSUN Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 I'm 33 and an awful lot of those apply to me. I'm old before my time. And I don't even have a mortgage yet...
Convict Colony Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 I fancy buy a motorbike but have done for years and really fancy a triumph bonneville with scrambler tyres so I can cruise the forest tracks here and cos they look sick - example aside from that nothing else as a lot seems to be work related as well, I'm 38 and retired already :-) I thought taking up triathlon or cycling was the new mid-life crisis anyway as all the old dudes I knew at work used to really get into it massively.
badgerx16 Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 I'm 54 next week and I scored 5 - not sure when my mid-life crisis will kick in.
scotty Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 4- possibly. 15 and 18- certainly. The rest- nope. So I suppose that makes me 2.5 at age 52. Has a pleasant symmetry, imo...
mini_me Posted 17 April, 2014 Posted 17 April, 2014 Ha ha thats a scary list of shizzle.... I was gonna buy a push bike to ride to work but **** that now !
badgerx16 Posted 18 April, 2014 Posted 18 April, 2014 Ha ha thats a scary list of shizzle.... I was gonna buy a push bike to ride to work but **** that now ! There's no point in buying a PUSH bike, you are supposed to throw your leg over the frame and RIDE it.
Delboy Dave Posted 20 April, 2014 Posted 20 April, 2014 I fancy buy a motorbike but have done for years and really fancy a triumph bonneville with scrambler tyres so I can cruise the forest tracks here and cos they look sick - example aside from that nothing else as a lot seems to be work related as well, I'm 38 and retired already :-) I thought taking up triathlon or cycling was the new mid-life crisis anyway as all the old dudes I knew at work used to really get into it massively. Retired at 38? You pullin my chain?
Convict Colony Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Well I am not gonna work again unless I fancy it, I might start something online next month to give me something other than gym, playstation and saintsweb to do.
Delboy Dave Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Well I am not gonna work again unless I fancy it, I might start something online next month to give me something other than gym, playstation and saintsweb to do. What did you do, rob a bank or summat
Convict Colony Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 What did you do, rob a bank or summat work too hard for 7yrs and then moved to a country where cost of living is cheap :-)
Dr Who? Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 12..... But some I have wanted to do for a long time, like learn a musical instrument, always starting new hobbies..... Also most would want an easier life.
Dr Who? Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Also there are many things I would like to do, but do not have the time or the money to do them. I think this is the main reason for 'midlife crises' is that the kids grow up the debts reduce and you have more time to do/buy those things you always wanted to do/buy. You also have more time for hobbies and money to do them!
St Chalet Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Perving over ex-girlfriends is a sign of midlife crisis?
Saint Luke Posted 22 April, 2014 Posted 22 April, 2014 49 years old. 1 12 18 23 25 34 Not enough to qualify, but pretty sure I am in one.
pap Posted 12 June, 2014 Author Posted 12 June, 2014 Recently got a guitar and am learning to play. Fúck, I'm such an archetype.
jjsaint Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 Recently got a guitar and am learning to play. Fúck, I'm such an archetype. Alto sax is my mid-life crisis instrument.
The9 Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 I got 9 (irony), but about 5 of those I've always done.
Patrick Bateman Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 Surely the only modern mid-life crisis for a male is to spend in excess of a grand on a road bicycle, buy all the lycra and padded pants things and go out cycling all the time pretending you're in a "peloton" ...
Gemmel Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 Recently got a guitar and am learning to play. Fúck, I'm such an archetype. I have no rhythm and no timing, but I would love to be able to paly instrument ....Drums would be my preference, but it won't happen.
RonManager Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 How do you know you're in the middle of your life? My ambition is to live forever. So far, so good.
CB Saint Posted 20 June, 2014 Posted 20 June, 2014 How do you know you're in the middle of your life? My ambition is to live forever. So far, so good. Im hedging my bets and decided to have a 40yr long mid life crisis. All bases covered.
pap Posted 21 June, 2014 Author Posted 21 June, 2014 I am enjoying mine - long may it continue Alto sax is my mid-life crisis instrument. I have no rhythm and no timing, but I would love to be able to paly instrument ....Drums would be my preference, but it won't happen. Well, I've been playing guitar for two weeks and would definitely say learning an instrument is worth it. Gemmel; was kinda like you. The enormity of how much there is to learn and overcome put me off for years. However, what really spurred me on this time was foreknowledge that with enough practice, most stuff becomes automatic. I've been organically touch typing for the last ten years without any kind of formal training. I'm near a keyboard 24/7 - just got good. Same thing applies with the guitar. Day one I was all over the place. At the end of week one, was able to find most of the major chords. At the end of week two, it takes me less than a minute to switch between them So yep; I'm still an utterly shíte guitar player, but working it into most stuff I'm doing and slowly getting better. Very encouraged by how much has clicked in the first couple of weeks, and it's a decent way to spend time. P'raps it's a hallmark of being middle aged, but I'm keenly aware of how I spend my time these days. This really doesn't seem like a waste of it.
Minsk Posted 21 June, 2014 Posted 21 June, 2014 Almost 51 and scored 5 - and one of those is because of work. How can I not flirt with women 20 years my junior when they flirt with me??
Tokyo-Saint Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 9, That makes me "obviously too young to understand the question". Suck on that oldies!
CB Saint Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 9, That makes me "obviously too young to understand the question". Suck on that oldies! You are obviously in the experimental stage of your life. A midlife crisis it something you should aspire to, not be pleased that you haven't reached it yet.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 All I got really was perving over ex birds on facebook and wanting a simpler life. I guess I am just a lazy pervert until the mid life stuff starts to kick in.
buctootim Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 Im 52 and over my 'crisis' - otherwise known as having a good time while you've still got the fire.
buctootim Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 You all spunked out now Tim? Ya know I think I might be. Fit women in their 30s still do it for me, but Im not rich enough to turn most of them them on. Fit 50 year olds are pretty rare...
the saint in winchester Posted 23 July, 2014 Posted 23 July, 2014 I'm 54 next week and I scored 5 - not sure when my mid-life crisis will kick in. I'm 54 now and scored 22! IT's all downhill now, but hopefully I'll be through the MLC by 55!
