richard Posted 11 April, 2014 Share Posted 11 April, 2014 Tenuous link with Saints really but I really enjoyed the article. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/apr/11/premier-league-homegrown-players My favourite line is: "I can see no real reason why the whole thing couldn't in time be moved to China, where new stadiums could be built, huge crowds drawn, the branding retained, massive sponsorship attracted and no significant revenue or personnel supply lines interrupted." DuncanRG Posted 11 April, 2014 Share Posted 11 April, 2014 What a terrific article. And very proud to say that Barney Ronay's right about us. Let's hope others catch on.
SuperMikey Posted 11 April, 2014 Share Posted 11 April, 2014 Excellent article that raises some good questions - is it maybe time to impose a 'foreign national' limit on Premier League teams? Players and pundits have been calling for it for a while, and it would mean that teams might actually be tempted to put some money into their academy setups rather than just spunking £30m on one player from abroad.
