The first concrete confirmations of an approach across all mediums. Notably the BBC who held back for a while, and then put it as their front page story.

It's clearly happening, just a matter of the announcement now.

The beeb have run stories about deals that haven't gone through before, you know - whether because they weren't real or because talks broke down.

What's actually happened today that makes everyone so sure it's happening by the way? I'm really confused.

Simon Peach on twitter confirming 'advanced negotiations'. Then it ballooning across all media. I guess we do trust The Peach after all.

Absolutely nothing that I can find. I used to be good at searching the interweb too.

It's time for the new project to start at Saints. He's gonna sit down with the board tomorrow and set the goals for the new project.

Those quotes are from after the last game of the season, aren't they?

All this "there's no quotes" "it's not on either OS" is very naive. It's clearly been leaked by decent sources to get this much coverage. Much like just before Adkins and Cortese left.

Here is why it smarts a little:

1. Who on earth is qualified at our club to name a successor?

2. It provides the perfect catalyst for players to seek to move - rather than state how good the club is they want to join, they can point to Saints lacking ambition and unable to keep Pochettino etc.

3. We get into just about the best shape we've been in my lifetime and it feels like it could come to a spectacularly abrupt end (it was a fun journey back up though)

4. It is a sobering and numbing reminder that no club really is ever going to break the mould in the Premier League unless there is more player and Manager loyalty

That looks like a quote (or two) from a couple of weeks ago to me?

That's what he said after the Man U game, it's clear that the project is not to his taste. Will probably not be to many of our tastes to be honest.

No, but so what? You write about him as if he was your unfaithful wife. It doesn't make him classless, forgettable and not as good as he thinks he is.

True. Still doesn't make him classless, forgettable and not as good as he thinks he is.

I dont think he's acted with much class, i wont give him much thought after he leaves and i dont think he's as good as he thinks he is. He has been in management for 5 years, he has so far won nothing. The BBC lists his career highlight as "Secured notable wins over Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea"

Now a sticky. Is it official ?

Did something at SFC die today, or did it actually die back in January and it has been twitching its death throes ever since ?

Was it your mental health?

If you were trying to come back and hope no one noticed, then you've failed as you're spouting the same crap.

All true of course....but I do find myself getting less and less bothered by the prospect. We may end up with somebody better - who knows. Cortese didn't have much football experience when he came in but still did OK on the managerial appointment front. This lot might do ok also....they can't do worse than the WBA board surely?

That article is referencing this...

http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2014-05-26/pochettino-heavily-linked-with-spurs-job/

Which is using quotes from straight after the Man Utd game. A lot of time has past since those quotes and the meeting he talks about happening "tomorrow".

Indeed. I'm gonna have to dust off the munch-o-meter at this rate...

Firstly i am not saying this means Poch is off and this is a possible replacement....but Chris Hughton was at the Grand Harbour hotel today.....he could have been there for anything completely unrelated to football and i gather there was a very large party there. Before you ask my source i can say its impeccable and i have seen the photographic evidence. The fact he was happy to have his picture taken with someone suggests its probably unrelated to Poch possibly going but i thought i would share!

Is it wrong for me to hope he fails miserably at Spurs if/when he goes there.?

We really have made a big mistake I letting him go.

My faith in the hierarchy at saint will have been severely dented.

Sometime I hate football....we pay the money, but have no say...

We Re the lifeblood of any club.

If he does leave, what do you think they could have done to prevent it? Is it really a case of "letting him go"?

Guess the mongboard is more attentive to some things than others, GS. Certainly better than your two last attempts post-ban. I understand the UI has a Heisenberg, so a neat ploy to piggyback off a legitimate poster (of course, you have done something similar with Olallana, so the modus operandi has your fingerprints all over it). Next time, remember to get lubed up and insert yourself nice and slowly, not hit it quick and hard.

Struggle to see any circumstance where saints board could present guy who failed as Norwich manager as replacement to potchettino if he goes.

Hughton=Relegation. Following in Norwich's footsteps.

I am not saying I want Hughton, but I suspect the WGS appointment would have had the exact same kind of post.

dunno. Had norwich been selling their best players and houghton had a record of keeping them up, then maybe

last summer was the complete opposite, so much so, that a few on here hailed them as a great example of doing business

Would like to say it was done on a limited (mental) budget against top quality opposition but our Glasgow never extended the same courtesy.

Mclaren isn't the worst. Lots I'd rather have before him. I think we're unlikely to go for a manager who is already in a job.

Agree. We will try not to pay compensation and are probably too nice/ethical to steal another team's Manager.

Martin Hunter might fancy it.
