SNSUN Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 I'll just be pleased the sooner all this gets sorted and we get a new manager. It needs to be ASAP to give the new man the time to bed, and start sorting out the unenviable job of player ins and outs. If Pochettino stays, I wonder whether his heart would be in it or whether he'd be waiting for the next chance to jump ship. Lets hope we don't drag our heels on the replacement. cellone Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 Will be a shame if it is true, but if it is and our destiny isn't to break into the top 4 or whatever it is that some people want then I can happily live with being the club that produces and provides exciting young players for the national team, even if they do later move on to bigger and better things. There are a lot of worse situations to find yourself in! Happy to be a loser in a competitive situation means you are in the wrong place.

OldNick Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 I'd have Adkins back like a shot. Viking Warrior Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 i am I still hopefully he will be staying .i know the media odds are stacked against me . The club are doing their best to keep him as we speak . It's not over to the fat lady has sung . And that has not happened she's not even gargling . Maybe were unable to keep our three stars and that has had an impacts on decisions to be made by him . If goes he goes and I might end up with egg on my face. But I don't care . I love the club come what may . I have a gut feeling the spuds were close to getting de boers but they screwed that appointment up . Is the Basel coach any good ? As long as our backgroungd staff don't leave other than doddies and co we will be alright . Keep the faith
croydonsaint Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 If Pochettino goes as seems likely at this moment, I will be left with the feeling that we have been played by him. In hindsight should we have allowed the stalling, has the board been naive, obviously we do not know the story but this is how I am left feeling. I would prefer us keep him to the last year of his contract, also all our players under contract, refuse to sell now and then plan for there replacements, manager included over the next year. At least we would be letting them go on our terms................... but this will not happen. I don't think taking Adkins back would be a bad shout. At least he cared about the club and blimey, wouldn't he be motivated for many reasons. Lets hope we can make Pochettinos defection into a positive. Saint86 Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 Still not convinced he is gone... I'm still waiting for Lallana and Shaw to leave (as reported by BBC and all others)... and I'm still yet to see any evidence of an official approach or the club giving spurs permission to speak to him or his agents... And even if he were to leave, I don't think Les Reed will have been sat around with his feet up on that front. There are plenty of good replacements we can have. Either way, I do not have the same case of MoPo love that many of our fans have.. With the same squad of Adkins, his games last season had an almost identical points tally to Adkins last equivalent number of matches, I would always have been curious to see how Adkins would have done with this team. And if our players are so great now, how on earth did MoPo get such a reputation for only finishing 8th I like the man, I like the style of football.... But the sky was falling when Adkins left, it was falling when Cortese left, and it will be "falling again"... We are not going to lose the entire first team..... and Jayrod, Davis, lovren, clyne, chambers, fonte, lambert, wanyama, boruc, morgan etc is still the core of a very capable team... So not worried, saints are bigger than any individual.... and as stated, there is absolutley no proof that any of them are leaving. In the case of Lallana, and Shaw, the only evidence is Reed saying that any bids will likely be rejected. Keep smiling and stop bed wetting, we have a billionaire owner who enjoys the club and the best youth academy in the world... how wrong do you think this can actually go?? Professor Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 As soon as MP refused to sign the contract extension it was best that he left. We must hope that Tottenham will take him as he's a lame duck here now. There are plenty of good managers out there and its open to the Board to bring in someone who the players will respect. Far more important is the need to refuse player sales as replacing players of international standard is far more difficult than replacing a manager. Now is the time for the Board to show they have the guts to act quickly on a quality replacement and turning away the predators for the stars in the squad. alpine_saint Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 I get the lack of loyalty, few fans or clubs are either. BUT, I certainly find it hard to wish him well as I believe he could have taken Saints above Spurs next season. Even trying to think about it objectively, I tend to think it'll end badly at Spurs and he won't be there within 18 months. Gutting news regardless and will be interesting to see what the board say about it. Losing MP, Lallana and Shaw, and maybe others will produce a horrible atmosphere and likely have a large portion of the fan base against them. Not a good position to be in so soon after Cortese. They'll have to pull off an amazing appointment and some brilliant signings to get people back on side quickly. They cant even sort out a kit and decent sponsor, FFS. You are asking a bit much. Still waiting for someone to prove that to me actually, if our owner is so bloody rich why can't she just chuck money at the club like every other mega rich owner in world football. Minsk Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 Pochettino showed what sort of a guy he is by stabbing Adkins in the back to walk in the door. He openly admitted that he had been watching us and waiting for the best time for him to take over, which was just as Adkins had turned the corner with our form. Anyone shocked by him now not showing any loyalty needs to have a word with themselves. Yes, he had us playing great football but I never really liked the guy; hence my Falkland Island flag avatar. That said, wouldn't have minded him to stay so long as the football stayed good. Similarly, I am certain there are other good managers out there who would like to work with an amazing crop of young English talent coming through. We will see what will be; and I will continue supporting Saints regardless.

adrian lord Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 Poch leaving makes Shaw and Lallana's departures pretty much a given. Possibly others too. Saint_Tony Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 That's exactly how I'd feel IF it wasn't so obviously linked to a board failure to keep him and imminent player departures. BallBoy Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 For a little while I began to believe that he might stay but it is now clear that, even in the unlikely eventuality that he does, his heart is no longer with us. The board have been unimpressively silent. They now need to take a firm line and make it clear that nobody else leaves until a new manager is appointed and then GET ON WITH IT. Speed is of the essence or we end up with turmoil throughout the close season period with no chance of hitting the ground running again. The players and the fans want leadership. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 May, 2014 Share Posted 26 May, 2014 I think the board needs to come out and make a really strong statement either that a) Poch has been given permission to speak to Spurs despite being offered a new contract or b) there is no foundation to any of these stories. At the moment we look like we are being mugged for MoPo and have not given up much of a fight. We need to be clear what the situation is in the light of incessant media rumours he is off and Les Reed's statement is too long ago to count. Personally, if he goes, I'll be massively disappointed as I felt we were on the cusp of something really good. As things stand, I can see more than the 2/3 players leaving that THEVMAN alluded to as we will have been perceived to have been a soft touch with Poch (rightly or wrongly). Ralph has come across as open & personable, Gareth Rogers hasn't said enough publicly to be seen as a strong CEO. The board need to get a grip to show the fans their mettle & convince us they have the capabilities to keep us progressing with or without Poch. At present, I can't say I've seen anything which would give me confidence but I guess there's always hope, if nothing else, and maybe we can attract someone even better?
