Pochettino's Future

Isn't this a bit OTT? What do we actually KNOW as opposed to believe? Many reports of Spurs wanting him. Does Levy really want him? Has he been approached? Does he want to go there? Is biding his time? I don't KNOW the answer to any of these questions. What I do KNOW is that Les Reed said that said that they were comfortable with the situation and that he and MP were/are planning next season (inc. transfer targets etc). Also MP has said a number of times that he has a year left on his contract and cannot understand what the fuss is all about. Will he stay or go? I don't know......but I don't believe that everything printed in the press is gospel either

We know hasn't come out and categorically said "I will still be the Southampton manager for the 2014/15 season. One day I may wish to move on but after only 18 months here I am only just beginning the job". It was an easy thing to do if he wasn't looking around.

I think he'll stay because if reports are true that Levy wants him but the rest of the Spurs board want de Boer, Pochettino isnt stupid enough to walk into a job with half hearted backing and sky high expectations. If Pochettino wont commit to staying for the medium to long term (ie at least two more years) personally I'd not offer a new contract and start looking around for a new coach.

Along with thousands of other things that he hasn't said! So you are taking something that he hasn't said as proof that he is leaving/wants to go?

He has been asked the question endless times and he is in the centre of a storm of speculation. He could have ended that with two sentences. He has chosen not to. In football thats akin to "approach my agent and make your best offer".

This is me. My dad is in the cricket circles and Mike Vimpany told him this last night. Purely passing it on. I deleted the tweet coz i couldn't deal with the amount of notifications!

I hope you can deal with the PM requests.

Jim White reports that Pochettino's been Spurs' number one target since they decided to bin Sherwood and they hope to get a deal done this week. No surprises there, really.

Which is why he's 5/1 on favourite really, that's approaching past the post odds I believe.

who bloody cares....just go Pochettino. No loyalty and stringing Saints along to get the best deal for him....and making us a media circus. he could have just said "I'm staying" but has chosen not to.

Saints will still be here long after he goes and I just hope we get a real quality replacement in (e.g. de Boer)

Still of the opinion he's long gone, and has been for a few weeks. Spurs have been the ones hanging, but if he was staying here it would have been announced weeks ago IMO. It's ok, we've got a Bruce Arena and Malky Mckay dream team lined up.

We won't get De Boer, don't fool yourself.

If they make an official approach can't Southampton just say no........or is that too simplistic ?

They could, but it's clear MP wants to leave IMO. As I said, if he wanted to stay here then this would have all been sorted out a few weeks ago - the fact it's dragged on has been to our detriment.

The most recent news was that there were internal splits on the spurs board, some wanting MP, others not.

Perhaps those splits have now been resolved and it's full steam ahead. Which is news.

I don't care how many times I have said it, "The Dream " died when KL told Cortese that she would NOT continue Funding at previous levels

THAT is why Cortese left, and THAT is the main reason why Pochettino will follow

He owes NO allegiance to KL

The effect(s) of those happenings won't be long in materialising IMHO

I know it's depressing to think about, but it's just hard to really see how a club like ours can ever really progress beyond upper mid-table. We're at a major crossroads and if we could have kept Poch and the team together, with a couple of additions who knows what could have happened. But there just doesn't seem anywhere for us to go, we're still considered little old Southampton who sell/lose managers just when we get to the brink of something good. We seem a bit rudderless at the moment, and face slipping back and losing all the ground we've made up. So frustrating.

Honestly, we earned nigh on 80 million £ from the PL last season, round about 20 million in ticket sales plus the other bits and bobs. If the board can't give the manager a decent operating budget out of all that then I hope they have a bloody good reason.

Well if he goes then our ambition clearly does not match his anymore. Not impressed at all by the new board. Unless we get a decent replacement in we will seriously struggle next season, if the reported player exodus is to be believed.

Shame, we could have really pushed on next season. (This is all of course if he goes!)
