Now, I'm not one to stir it up but...

@jocelynpricee: can't believe I served Adam Lallana and Mauricio Pochettino this evening ??

@joeallencm1990: @jocelynpricee did it look like a farewell ??

@jocelynpricee: @joeallencm1990 when they left it did, either that or it was some kind of contract

@nad_THFC: @jocelynpricee @callum_haymes where?

@jocelynpricee: @nad_THFC @callum_haymes Chilworth

Not a dig at you Dan, as I like your twitter insights - but there is such an enormous amount of turd floating around at the moment, it's like wading through a bath of ****.

Totally agree - hence why I said about stirring it up.

Look, 90% of us, including me got roped right in with the fake Poch pic. Just goes to show how easy it spreads with social media these days. Finding the good amongst the bad is incredibly difficult with a story like this.

Twitter is making the closed season an utter nightmare! Every, tiny, incy little thing is being ripped apart, analysed, analysed again and then the analysed responses are analysed some more. We'll be talking earlobe sizes soon.

Bring on the world cup...!!!

How could Adam be in chilworth and with England in Portugal ?

Although I have just seen (in the paper ) Johnson in Monaco walking around the pit lane

Think they are back from Portugal now. Training at St George's park this week ahead of the friendlies planned.

The Board said that nobody would be sold if he wanted to keep them. How much clearer do they need to be?

.......................

Quite simple, a statement made before any bids were received does not deal with the new situation after those bids are received or reported. So if the Board want to make it clear that they are holding on to these players, they need to repeat that players concerned are on long contracts and are not for sale. If they are not determined to see off those bids, then of course they can't make such a statement. In these circumstances, its not surprising that the manager has failed to commit himself.

Shurlock made a good assessment of the situation in post 257, although he did put the Board's inability to call Pochettino's bluff down to a lack of credibility, whereas I'd suggest that it's down to weakness and a lack of direction.

The entire point of the Board's statement was in anticipation of enquiries or bids being received - or else why make it? They made the statement and haven't seen fit to make another one since, so it's reasonable to assume that their first statement holds good and they don't need to repeat it.

That is, it holds good unless the "he" it referred to (i.e., Pochettino) remains silent in the face of these approaches, because he's the one (based on the Board's commitment) whose opinion is pivotal. The statement needs to come from Pochettino, not the Board - and he's too busy protecting his own position (probably with Spurs rather than us) to make such a statement.

If he's "failed to commit himself" it's not because the Board aren't supporting him - they've made it clear that they would. It's because he's too busy pursuing a cause other than the best interests of Southampton FC.

The board have stated that players aren't for sale and that talks with the manager had/have begun. What else could they say?

So what's the hold up ..... have the talks stalled because MoPo's interpreter is on holiday ??

The Board have said that no player that MoPo wants to keep will be sold, but that is full of holes

What if MoPo goes ??

What is the Club's stance on Player's going then ?? They can't even sort out who the Manager is going to be

Bodes well for any major signings (joke) don't you think ? I would have thought that one of the FIRST questions any prospective signing would want to know iswho the Manager is ?

I think Ralph is back in Canada at present, how long for I am not sure. I assume Les Reed is handling all negotiations.

err the spurs job. My take on this is Mopo is the one dragging his feet not the board.

Who said he´s on holiday?

Might be working the book shops over there... ;)

Very true, should get a few plugs on his favourite Canadian radio stations too.

Will also give him some time to dream up some more 'models of leadership' to possibly put into place.

Not the best source but anyway

@GoalUK: Tottenham are set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, Goal can reveal: http://t.co/0wjxFkgt9B #THFC http://t.co/HzobG1FZAu

You missed a bit.....

"As of Sunday night, no official approach is understood to have been made to Southampton but the south-coast club are resigned to losing the 42-year-old and braced for Spurs to finally make an official move."

you should have disected that link

The Southampton boss has been the favourite for the job since Tim Sherwood was sacked earlier in May and several talks have taken place with intermediaries. A broad agreement over a salary package worth £3 million per year is believed to have been reached a week ago.

I thought de boer was their preferred applicant

So how can they say he ios about to be appointed when no official approach has been made

Who said the south coast club are resigned to losing him

Utter tosh in my humble opinion

Just more re-hashing of the same stuff as last week. Fluff and bluster.

What makes me question this one most though is the bit about Saints being resigned to losing MP. If that were the case, we would be making enquiries about a replacement. With the level of media scrutiny at the moment, I'm pretty sure that would have reached at least twitter.

I guess Ralph is looking for a new point man and a couple of defencemen, this will help during our power plays next season. A good backup goal minder would be useful as well.

It's taking too long now though. Needs to get his skates on.

You mean Les Reed

Worrying IMO how the responsibility for sorting Poch's extension has been devolved to Les Reed. When Ralph came in he was talking about discussions evolving organically, and about both him and Poch sharing the same emotional values and drives, which to me, suggested a level of responsibility for sorting out the contract as well as a quiet confidence that any negotiations would be concluded swiftly.

However, Poch has done his best to distance himself from any sort of perceived cordiality between the two, just talking in quite cold terms about the 'new board', and stating on a number of occassions that talks over a new contract have not even taken place. Wouldn't be surprised if Les Reed took over contract negotiations purely because the club realised RK wasn't getting very far or telling Poch the things he wanted to hear - i.e. concrete vision for where to take the club, and not vague guff about maximising our potential.

As I've said beforehand, Ralph is a likeable man with a lot of dignity, and he could in time prove to be a good Chairman for us. That said, I think he has been thrown right in the deep end and I'm not convinced he has the experience or football knowledge to convince Poch he is at the right club. Would be more than happy to eat my words.

Is it not possible that RK went to Canada, to tie up some lose ends, See family, sign a business deal with Saints, or having an input to The 2014 Celebration of Excellence to celebrate Canada’s tremendous successes within the Olympic Movement which is happening next week .

I doubt very much he was having a holiday , but then only **** stirrers would come up with that sort of spin

Ralph is good with local businesses though, for the purpose of a balanced argument.

Yes, agreed.

Sorry, but the stuff with Canada isn't his job anymore. We are entering a fortnight that might well define how the club fares next season, so he should be around.

Whatever the truth of this situation, as far as Saints fans on here are concerned Pochettino is looking more and more like a traitor to the Saints cause. Should he stay many on here will continue to harbour dark feelings towards the man because he didn't come out on Day 1 after the ManUre game and state his loyalty to Saints. Whether this is true or not he will be regarded by many as only having stayed as second choice. Would he then be held in the same affection as before? Once goods are tarnished goods its hard to go back to how things were before. If many of the rumours are true about his hesitancy to re-sign for Saints because of possible other offers maybe it is best he moves on now?
