Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 April, 2014 Share Posted 9 April, 2014 This would work, if you didn't have to be a top team in your own country to qualify for the Champions League. 3/10 - must do better.

The Kraken Posted 9 April, 2014 Share Posted 9 April, 2014 Man Utd sweep idea - how many years until they're back in the Champions League? Prob not long at all IMO. They were always going to tail off under Moyes but should still have had enough to finish 4th this season. I think they'll spend over the summer and finish 3rd or 4th next season, with or without Moyes (preferably with). Their days of dominance are gone but they have such amazing resources that it would be a f*ck up year on year to finish outside the top 4, and even Moyes isn't that inept. VectisSaint Posted 9 April, 2014 Share Posted 9 April, 2014 Why the Sunderland references? They play in our (proper) colours because they bought their original shirts in Southampton. The same as Atletic Bilbao (both Basque teams, Madrid were formed by Basque exiles in Madrid from the same club). Story is that they wanted to buy Blackburn Rovers kit, but kit could not be found so opted for Saints shirts, but kept the preferred Rovers blue shorts. The Blackburn bit could be rubbish because we of course played in blue shorts as well.

Which apparently by the end of each season had gone from Navy blue to more of a Blackburn blue in the wash hence the change to Black which was a bit more colourfast all them years ago. nta786 Posted 9 April, 2014 Share Posted 9 April, 2014 Doesn't seem fair that if Chelsea draw athletico, they get to severely weaken their side by removing their goalkeeper. Daft system. Shouldnt to be allowed to loan to clubs entering the same competition as you. It has been confirmed that Courtois can play. The loan system has always been a farce... Saint in Paradise Posted 10 April, 2014 Share Posted 10 April, 2014 It has been confirmed that Courtois can play. The loan system has always been a farce... Looks like he won't though ? Thibaut Courtois will not line up for Atletico Madrid against his parent club Chelsea if the teams meet in the Champions League semi-finals. Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo confirmed the news after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Barcelona in the last eight. The Spanish side would have to pay Chelsea a large fee to allow Courtois to play in the semi-finals, believed to be in the region of £8.25m, an amount that Cerezo described as unrealistic. Cerezo told Spanish radio station Onda Cero: 'If we draw Chelsea, Courtois won't play. It is a figure we cannot pay.'

So what you're saying is that no English team should ever be allowed to any other English team as they enter the FA Cup together? And league teams definitely can't loan to other league teams as they both enter the league. Sounds like a foolproof plan.
