notnowcato Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 Will at least mean he won't be off in January. Also doubt he'll be back to form before April.

Shroppie Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 "Another 7 or 8 weeks before he'll be back in full training" according to Koeman at this afternoon's pre-match conference No problem with that. No point in rushing it and he won't be fit for transfer enquiries. Just hope that Tadic, Long and Mane stay fit.
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 Walcott has only just returned to first team training after 9 months.
Bucks Saint Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 Walcott has only just returned to first team training after 9 months. Indeed but he has to contend with the Arsenal medical / recovery people

notnowcato Posted 17 October, 2014 Posted 17 October, 2014 Walcott has only just returned to first team training after 9 months. Plays for the Arsenal stiffs today.
Turkish Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Will Rodriguez get in the team? I'm a big fan of his but on the evidence so far he's far from guaranteed to walk back into the team. Tadic and Pelle must be two of the first names on the team sheet and Mane is showing promise. People slate Long for his price tag but he does what he does very well. so whilst he gives us anther great option he's far from guaranteed to a place once he's back.

Front three of Rodriguez -- Pelle -- Tadic will be devastating. I think Koeman is a good enough coach to pick from JRod, Tadic, Mane, Long for the two to support Pelle depending on who we're playing and how the games are going.
S-Clarke Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Mane, Jay and Long will rotate that position. We have much more depth this year in that area. So much pace and movement.

I think Koeman is a good enough coach to pick from JRod, Tadic, Mane, Long for the two to support Pelle depending on who we're playing and how the games are going. That's my point through, our game is built around Pelle, Tadic is quite possibly our best player so Rodriguez is competing for the other place with 3 players. mane has only really just got going so remains to be seen on him but first impressions are good. he's by no means guaranteed to be first choice like the other two. A few months back most of us were desperate for his return.

I guess the good thing about this is that (currently) there is no need to rush him back and he can recover and get game time at a sensible rate.

Think we'll see him in the FA Cup - honestly don't think he'll be fit or match sharp enough to slot back in for our top 4 finish
Turkish Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Think we'll see him in the FA Cup - honestly don't think he'll be fit or match sharp enough to slot back in for our top 4 finish We won't be playing weakened teams in the cups any more mate
CB Fry Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 It's very satisfying, when in a pessimistic moment where I worry what would happen to our team if one of our key players got injured, to remember that one of our key players IS currently injured and we're doing effing great anyway. But the point is, Jay Rod will come back just in time to cover African Cup of Nations and/or inevitable injury or loss of form to someone else. Basically what I am saying is we're nailed on fourth place.
derry Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 If he doesn't sign the contract on offer we should unload him for another big fee to a PL top mug. Never been a better time. If he doesn't want to be part of this team and wants a move for the money, best that he goes.

Whitey Grandad Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Basically what I am saying is we're nailed on fourth place. Oh dear. Does that mean away trips in August to countries we've never heard of in former communist republics?
angelman Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Basically what I am saying is we're nailed on fourth place. Lawro disagrees with you.... Lawro on the battle for fourth place... That is going to be one of the stories of this season because a big club is going to miss out, it is just a question of who. I would pick my one-two-three now, which is Chelsea as champions then Manchester City and Arsenal, but after that it is extremely tough to call. Manchester United and Liverpool are the two main contenders - Everton could go on a really good run and still get there, but I doubt it, and Tottenham I am still not sure about - and they could end up having a big scrap for fourth. United have got the advantage that Liverpool had last season, which is no European football. That is a massive factor, as Liverpool are finding out - they are just about to start another run of seven games in 21 days, the same as they did in September and October.
hutch Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Oh dear. Does that mean away trips in August to countries we've never heard of in former communist republics? Scotland?
Ultimatt Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Koeman could go for a change in formation. - - - - - - - - - - - - Pelle - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mane - - - - - - Tadic - - - - - Rodriguez -
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 So many top options, Tadic is incredible and is basically undropable, as is Pelle. Then you have Jay Rod who we all know about, mane who is raw but IMO looks very very good and long who despite people criticisms works so hard for the team.
Roger Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Play Forster Clyne fonte Toby Bertrand Vic Morgan Mane j rod tadic Pelle
Golden Balls Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Play Forster Clyne fonte Toby Bertrand Vic Morgan Mane j rod tadic Pelle Dropping S.Davis is very harsh.
hutch Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Dropping S.Davis is very harsh. I would use Davis and Long in the PL games. Keep Tadic and JRod fresh for the CL.
S-Clarke Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Play Forster Clyne fonte Toby Bertrand Vic Morgan Mane j rod tadic Pelle Don't understand why Davis always pulls the short straw! For me, he's one of the first names on the team sheet. He's completely dependable, technically very good, a leader. He's one of our key men, he's in the team every week for me.

Leicestersaint Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 Davis has been excellent this season - he has improved on last year I think.

S-Clarke Posted 20 October, 2014 Posted 20 October, 2014 For who? Not sure what you mean? He's not replacing anyone as he's in the team right now. Cork won't start every week, he'll rotate.
Faz Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 Not sure what you mean? He's not replacing anyone as he's in the team right now. Cork won't start every week, he'll rotate. The great thing about our midfield right now is that, apart from Morgan, the others (perm any two from Davis, Cork, Vic, JWP and maybe Reed) bring different qualities, but don't weaken us. They will all get game time - we're still in two cups and chasing a CL place after all!
Toomer Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 On SSN this morning according to a source Jay Rob back by mid Nov.
trousers Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 On SSN this morning according to a source Jay Rob back by mid Nov. Did they say back in full training or back playing matches? Would be pleasantly surprised if he's "match fit" this side of Christmas
Toomer Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 Did they say back in full training or back playing matches? Would be pleasantly surprised if he's "match fit" this side of Christmas I only got a quick glance at it so I am not sure but it probabley said full training.
jasonb Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 This. He has been the best bit of business we have done for a long old time. My Villa supporting mate said to me at the time we signed Davis that we had a fantastic player with an even better attitude. His comments have certainly been proven correct. I also agree that I think he has improved and is possibly playing his best football in our progressive system. It just highlights what an excellent pro he is, his adaptability and enthusiasm to constantly improve should be rubbing off on all our young midfielders.
NickG Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 Its clear that Forster, Clyne, Fonte, Toby, Bertrand, Schneiderlin, Tadic all start if fit. Davis only missed one start and then was brought on so safe to say he is pretty much first choice. Of others , so far prem minutes; Wanyama 416 Long 364 JWP 329 Cork 296 Mane 183 JWP is high despite being injured for while. mane low due to late signing and international duties. I thought Davis was bit below par in a recent home game (QPR?) So doubted his starting place (only due to competition) but he was superb on Saturday. If all fit think the most used players will be Forster Clyne Bertrand Toby Fonte Schneiderlin Tadic Davis Then one of (in order of suspected RK's preference) JWP Wanyama Cork With not much between them. Then one of Mane or Long but both getting on most games. Good thing this season formation less obvious, could easily find good 442, 4231, 41311 etc. If Jay Rod comes back as he was he has to start...but Mane could be undroppable by then!!
trousers Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 I only got a quick glance at it so I am not sure but it probabley said full training. Cheers. That would put him 2 or so weeks ahead of where Koeman placed him last week so good news if true.
jasonb Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 I only got a quick glance at it so I am not sure but it probabley said full training. I'm sure I heard Ronald field a question in a recent press conference saying 8 weeks. Not sure if that's 8 weeks to be available for selection OR 8 weeks until returning to full training.
doddisalegend Posted 21 October, 2014 Posted 21 October, 2014 Has anything more come about regarding Jrods contract? Last I heard the club had offered him a better one but Jrod was rather cool on the idea.
